AIM To substantiate the therapeutic effects of carbonate buffer mixture on naturally occurring gastrointestinal atony in cattle. METHODS Therapeutic effects of carbonate buffer mixture (Na2CO3 50 g, NaHCO3 420 g, KCI 20 g, NaCI 100 g, water 10 L) were observed in 120 cases of gastrointestinal atony including forestomach atony, rumen impaction, rumen acidosis, omasum impaction and intestinal constipation. RESULTS Average cure rate of carbonate buffer mixture on abovementioned diseases was 95 %, and average dose was 1.4-0. 5. CONCLUSION Being a new approach for treatment of gastrointestinal atony in ruminants, the carbonate buffer mixture can eliminate the gastrointestinal atony originated from the over acidity in gastrointestinal canal.

ObjectiveTo observe the effect of telmisartan on plasma levels of inflammatory cytokine in coronary artery disease (CAD) patients complicated with diabetes mellitus and hypertension after percutaneous coronary intervention.MethodsFifty CAD patients who just had undertook angioplasty and implanted stents were randomly divided into two groups, the test group (telmisartan group, n=25) and control group (perindopril group, n=25). After treatment, patients were followed-up for 6 months; plasma samples were collected from each patient before and after percutaneous coronary intervention. Then plasma levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) were measured by enzyme-linked immunoassay. The changes of cholesterol, fasting plasma glucose (FPG), insulin and insulin resistance index (IRI) were observed.ResultsAt the end of 6 months, plasma levels of CRP and MCP-1 of patients in the test group significantly declined (P<0.01), and showing a inversely correlation with FPG (P<0.01), and FPG, insulin and IRI also declined. In the control group, only CRP and MCP-1 declined (P<0.05). Meanwhile, the frequency of cardiovascular events in test group was significantly lower than that in the control group.ConclusionTelmisartan can decline plasma levels of CRP, MCP-1 and frequency of cardiovascular events as well as increasing insulin sensitivity and improving glucose metabolism to unstable angina patients.

Based on the data of a national sampling survey, this paper described and analyzed the understanding, attitude, behavior, and their differences and influencing factors of Chinese medical researchers on ethical review of biomedical research involving human subject. The survey found that researchers with master’s degree or below, working in scientific research institutes or universities, no overseas experience, living in the central region and not serving as committee members have relatively poor acquaintance of "ethical review" ; researchers with the characteristics of male, the younger age, living in the western region, knowing less about "ethical review" , agree more with the view that "ethical review consumes too much time and energy" ; researchers who serve as members of the ethics committee are more likely to participate in scientific research projects that have not passed the ethical review process. Therefore, recommendations are put forward: comprehensively popularizing the training of ethical review, focusing on strengthening the vulnerable groups and regions, strictly implementing ethical review laws and regulations, and strengthening evaluation and supervision, so as to improve the service quality and efficiency of ethical review in multiple directions.

Under the background of high-intensity fattening, probiotics have gradually become wide-ly used feed additives. It can inhibit the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria, maintain the microeco-logical balance in the digestive tract, and improve the host immune function. In order to screen lac-tic acid bacteria strains with potential probiotic effects,23 acid-producing strains were isolated from rumen fluid of healthy Duolang sheep by CaCO3-MRS solid medium.Safe strains were re-screened through primary screening and hemolysis tests.Acid tolerance tests and bile salt tests were used to screen the strains that were relatively adapted to the rumen environment. The survival rate of the strain M2 was 93.80%under pH3.0 and 59.72%under bile salt concentration of 0.30%and the survival rate is higher than other strains under high temperature conditions.Subsequently, morphological observation, molecular biological identification, testing of pathogen antagonism, antibiotic tolerance analysis, growth characteristics detection and other methods were used to fur-ther explore the characteristics of the strain. The results showed that the strain to be tested was Gram-positive bacillus. After 16S rRNA gene sequence comparison, the strain was identified as Lactobac illus salivus, which could be used as a candidate strain to develop probiotics. The research results laid a foundation for its application in Duolang sheep breeding.
