AIM: To explore the expression changes of bone morphogenetic protein-7 (BMP-7) and its receptors (BMPR-Ⅱ, ALK-2, ALK-3, ALK-6) in the renal tubulo-interstitial lesions induced by unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO). METHODS: Rats were divided into normal control, sham operation and UUO groups, and sacrificed at postoperative day 1, 3, 7 and 14. The mRNA levels of BMP-7, BMPR-Ⅱ, ALK-2, ALK-3 and ALK-6 were examined by RT-PCR. The protein expression site and level of BMP-7 was detected by immunohistochemistry staining. RESULTS: Compared to sham operation group, the mRNA levels of BMP-7, BMPR-Ⅱ, ALK-2 and ALK-3 were significantly decreased, but the change of ALK-6 mRNA was not marked in UUO rats. The reduction of mRNA expression levels of BMP-7, BMPR-Ⅱ, ALK-2 and ALK-3 in the kidney tissue aggravated along with the delayed post-operated days. The results of immunohistochemistry staining indicated that BMP-7 mainly expressed in renal tubular and interstitial, rarely in glomeruli. In UUO rats, the protein expression of BMP-7 decreased in varying degrees according to the post-operated days. CONCLUSION: The loss of BMP-7 and its receptors (BMPR-Ⅱ, ALK-2, ALK-3) were observed in the early phase of fibrotic process and this may play a very important role in mediating the renal tubulointerstital fibrosis.

Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2012;(10):922-925
Background Cataract phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation is a primary treatment for cataract. However, tear film stability and ocular surface structure are affected after surgery, especially some cataract patients with diabetes.Researches determined that tear film dysfunction is an important causative factor of dry eye. Objective This study was to investigate the change of tear film after phacoemulsification in cataract patient with diabetes. Methods A non-randomized cases-controlled study was designed.Thirty-six cataract patients with diabetes (54 eyes)and matched 32 patients (40 eyes)with age-related cataract were included in this study in Tianjin First Center Hospital from October,2010 to May,2011.Phacoemulsification and IOL implantation was performed on the all patients with the same topical eyedrops in both groups.Dry eye-related symptom was surveyed and scored by questionnaire, and tear film break-up time (BUT),Schirmer Ⅰ test(S Ⅰ t)and corneal fluorescein(FL) were examined 3 days before operation and 1 day,1 week,1month,3 months after operation.Written informed consent was obtained from each patient before entering this trial. Results The percentage with preoperative symptoms of dry eye was 36.2% and postoperative dry eye symptoms accounted for 75.8%.Significant differences were seen in dry eye symptom score,FL score,BUT value and S Ⅰ t value between the diabetic cataract group and only cataract group as well as among 4 time points(dry eye symptom score:Fgroup =139.347,P =0.000 ; Ftime =342.741,P =0.000 ; FL score: Fgroup =14.073,P =0.000 ; Ftime =332.697,P =0.000 ; BUT value: Fgroup =28.198,P =0.000 ; Ftime =868.364,P =0.000 ; S Ⅰ t value: Fgroup =2.848,P =0.095 ; Ftime =564.017,P=0.000).FL scores of 2 groups were significantly higher in postoperation than those in preoperation (P<0.05),and those of diabetic cataract group were significantly higher than only cataract group(P<0.05),but no significant difference was found between postoperation 3 months and preoperation (P>0.05).BUT was shorter in postoperation than that in preoperation in the diabetic cataract group(P<0.05).S Ⅰ t values in postoperative 1 day and 1 week were significantly lower than in preoperation in both groups(P<0.05).However,S Ⅰ t values returned to normal from 1 month through 3 months in both groups(P>0.05).Conclusions Tear film dysfunction occurs after operationin cataract patient with type 2 diabetes. It is thought that cataract patient with diabetes is susceptible population of dry eye.Dry eye appears more early and severer in diabetes patients after phacoemulsification combined with IOL implantation.

Chinese Journal of Radiation Oncology 2017;26(8):914-917
Objective To summarize the clinical characteristics and evaluate the feasible treatments of primary breast lymphoma (PBL).Methods The clinical data of 34 PBL patients (age 24-79 years) who were treated in our hospital between April 2006 and December 2013 were reviewed.Of these 34 patients, 18 had stage ⅠE PBL and 16 had stage ⅡE PBL.Pathological types included diffuse large B cell lymphoma (29 patients), anaplastic large cell lymphoma (2 patients), marginal zone lymphoma (2 patients), and mantle cell lymphoma (1 patient). Two patients underwent surgery, four patients received chemotherapy alone, five patients received chemoradiotherapy, fourteen patients underwent surgery plus chemotherapy, and nine patients underwent surgery plus chemoradiotherapy. The 5-year overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) rates were determined by the Kaplan-Meier estimator. Results During follow-up, 26 patients were alive without lymphoma and 8 patients had died by the end of follow-up (7 died from lymphoma and 1 died from chemotherapy-related hepatic failure).Among the 6 patients who relapsed, 5(83.3%) had recurrence within the first 2 years of treatment. In particular, 1 patient who had bilateral breast involvement developed left breast relapse after bilateral mastectomy and chemotherapy, 2 patients had bone marrow metastasis, 1 patient had lung and mediastinal lymph node metastases, and 2 had skin relapse. The 5-year OS and PFS rates of all patients were 75% and 75%, respectively. Conclusions Since PBL is a rare malignancy, its overall prognosis is fair and the incidence of local relapse is low with chemotherapy alone or in combination with other treatments. However, further studies on the development of more effective treatments will be required for patients who have failed the existing treatments.
