Chemicals usage has been reported as the cause of accidents in a laboratory. Those accidents have caused many injuries, even fatality in many sectors, one of which happened in the University Teaching Laboratory. Accidents usually happen because of unsafe behavior, while unsafe behavior is caused by bad safety perceptions. This paper investigates the correlation of perceptions and behavior in University Teaching Laboratory. The result measured by regression analysis to find out the relationship between two variables showed that there is a strong relationship between perceptions and behavior. Therefore, safe behavior can be created through creating good perception.
2.Role of immunohistochemical cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2) and osteocalcin in differentiating between osteoblastomas and osteosarcomas

Background/Aims: Differential diagnosis between aggressive osteoblastoma and low grade osteosarcoma may be very diffi cult or even impossible on a small biopsy. This study was designed to assess the usefulness of immunoexpression of COX-2 and osteocalcin in the differential diagnosis
of the two tumour types. Methods: Immunostaining of COX 2 and osteocalcin were studied in 9 osteoblastomas and 30 osteosarcomas. Results: All osteoblastomas and 11/20 (55%) high-grade osteosarcomas showed COX-2 immunoreactivity. All low grade osteosarcomas were COX-2 negative.
COX-2 was signifi cantly higher (p<0.002) in osteoblastomas 9/9 (100%) than in osteosarcomas 13/30
(43%) and in aggressive osteoblastomas versus low grade osteosarcomas (p<0.01). Osteocalcin was found in tumour cells of all osteosarcomas and osteoblastomas and in the osteoid matrix of 84% of osteosarcomas and 78% of osteoblastomas. Strong osteocalcin was signifi cantly higher (p<0.02) in osteoblastomas (78%) than in osteosarcomas (27%). Conclusion: COX-2 is a valuable marker in distinction between osteosarcoma and osteoblastoma. Negative COX-2 could confi rm the diagnosis
of low grade osteosarcoma versus aggressive osteoblastoma. Intensity and distribution of osteocalcin
may indicate the degree of osteoblastic differentiation.

In recent years, there is a growing enthusiasm in honey which has potential health benefits, disease prevention and serves as substitution of modern medicine. Honey is a natural sweet product which is produced by honey bees from floral nectar and has been traditionally used to treat several diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, cancer and Alzheimer’s disease since ancient times. Gelam honey (GH) is one of the Malaysian wild monofloral honey which is widely used as traditional medicine by the local population. GH is enriched with several therapeutic properties namely, antioxidative, antiinflammatory, anticancer and accelerated wound healing activities. However, there is lack of literature focusing on the overall effects of GH and its medicinal value. This review paper summarises the phytochemistry characteristics of GH along with its therapeutic values which lead to a broad spectrum idea on several diseases. A concise clarification on the therapeutic properties of GH is expected to provide new knowledge to thescientific society in these modern globalization eras.

4.Validity And Reliability Of Vicon Motion Capture Camera Over The Traditional Anthropometric Method

Anthropometric study is one of the oldest branches of study in ergonomics where it serves a purpose in study of proportion and size for human body. One of the common methods used in anthropometric measurement is traditional measurement or direct measurement. However, Malaysia is still left behind other countries in development of national anthropometric database. Researchers in Malaysia are still relying on the traditional anthropometric (TA) measurement. There are several important factors that contribute to problems in TA such as accuracy, time, posture, identification of landmarks, instrument positions and orientations, and pressure exerted due to measuring equipment. In view of the fact that the difficulties of obtaining human anthropometry, it becomes necessary to propose a method which has less contact executed to respondent. This study aims to propose a new anthropometric measurement method using motion capture camera (MCC) method, later to develop the database for youth male population. A pilot test was done in order to confirm the measuring procedure as well as the flow of the study. Next, the Minitab statistical software used to check the validity and reliability of data using the tests of a) Accuracy-Pearson/Spearman Correlation b) BiasPaired T-Test c) Test-Retest Reliability-Pearson/Spearman Correlation d) Precision-Mean Absolute Difference and Relative Error Measurement. Results showed that the validity and reliability of this motion camera has successfully obtained and the anthropometric data for youth male respondents has successfully constructed. These findings can be used and expended to the national anthropometric database to be utilised in ergonomics design.

Abstract
Hematospermia is a distressing disorder in sexually active men resulting in great concern to the patient. We report an
unusual case of hematospermia with an atypical presentation, involving a 54-year-old man presented with acute
urinary retention after sexual intercourse. Although the causes are widely known, arteriovenous malformation as the
cause of this disorder has not much been reported in the literature. Transcatheter embolization of internal pudendal
artery is a promising option for hematospermia caused by arterial fistula or bleeding.

6.Assessment of biodegradability of PVC containing cellulose by white rot fungus

Aims: Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is the most widely used and environmentally damaging plastic. Processing, production
and disposal of PVC cause release of toxic chlorine based compounds into environment. The objective of the present
study was to assess the biodegradability of cellulose blended PVC by white rot fungi i.e. Phanerochaete chrysosporium.
Methodology and results: Biodegradability of the strain for the polymer was tested on plate assay, sturm test, soil
burial and shake flask experiments. The biodegradability of the polymer was determined by visual changes, plate assay
and carbon dioxide production. Morphological changes in the polymer such as pits, extensive spotting, clear surface
erosion, fungal attachment, roughening and deterioration of some parts were observed using scanning electron
microscopy. Chemical changes like appearance and shortening of peaks using fourier transform infrared spectroscopy
also confirmed the biodegradability of the polymer.
Conclusion, significance and impact of study: The present study confirmed that mixing of small amount of cellulose
increases the hydrophilicity of the polymer and lead to its microbial degradation and Phanerochaete chrysosporium has
great potential for the treatment of solid waste containing plastics.
7.The relationship between timing of admission to a hospital and severity of injuries following 2005 Pakistan earthquake.

PURPOSEThe objective of this study was to establish the relationship between the timing of admission to a hospital and the severity of injuries following an earthquake.
METHODSIt was a retrospective chart review of injured patients admitted to a tertiary care teaching hospital following the 2005 Pakistan earthquake. Age, gender, injury severity score, type of injuries, complications, operations, hospital stay and mortality were studied and compared at different time intervals using SPSS.
RESULTSMost injuries were musculoskeletal [145 (59%)] vs. all other injuries, including minor lacerations [103 (41%)], but the percentage of non-musculoskeletal injuries was higher within 24 h (67% vs. 53% respectively, p = 0.4). Injury severity score (25 ± 10 vs. 16 ± 9, p=0.01), multiple injuries [73% vs. 45%, p=0.05] and crush syndrome [20% vs. 03%, p = 0.02] were significantly higher in patients admitted within 24 h. More patients with head and neck injuries were admitted within 24 h (27% vs. 18%, p = 0.4). Patients admitted within 24 h had higher complication rates (67% vs. 32%, P = 0.01) as well as mean operative procedures (2.8 ± 1.9 vs. 1.9 ± 1.9, p= 0.08).
CONCLUSIONOur study showed that patients admitted to a hospital within 24 h following an earthquake had more severe injuries and higher complication rate than those admitted after 24 h.

8.Dual Energy CT and its use in neuroangiography.

The dual energy CT (DECT) technology has been recently employed in the form of two X-ray sources of different energies to enhance the contrast between adjacent structures. Its use in the cardiac arena has been widely highlighted due to the higher temporal resolution. However, it may also be used in the craniocervical and peripheral vasculature for better differentiation between contrast-enhanced vascular lumina and calcified plaques, in the characterisation of ureteric stones, and in the evaluation of hepatic lesions. The objective of this paper is to revisit DECT physics, review the literature and discuss its use in CT neuroangiography with case illustrations from our institution, and impact on dose savings.

9.Endoscopic Ultrasound-Guided Fine Needle Aspiration in Cystic Pancreatic Lesions.

Incidental pancreatic cysts are being increasingly recognized recently with incremented concern about health and frequent health check-up. Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) has emerged as the principal modality for imaging pancreas for various pancreatic diseases including pancreatic cyst. But imaging alone cannot accurately identify the exact nature of the pancreatic cyst. EUS-guided fine needle aspiration is a useful adjunctive procedure to differentiate pancreatic cystic lesions. Cystic fluid analysis with cytologic evaluation is important to diagnose etiology of pancreatic cystic lesions, helping the clinician to more accurately assess the presence or potential for malignancy.

10.A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials Comparing Surgical versus Conservative Treatments for Acute Undisplaced or Minimally-Displaced Scaphoid Fractures.

BACKGROUND: Surgical and conservative methods have been reported by various studies for high rates of fracture union and subsequent regain of function among patients with undisplaced or minimally-displaced scaphoid fractures. Hence, this study aims to analyze the best available evidence to comprehend the relative benefits and risks of these therapeutic options. METHODS: A systematic search of the literature from different databases and search engines was performed with strict eligibility criteria to obtain the highest quality of evidence. All randomized controlled trials delineating the outcomes of surgical versus conservative treatments for acute undisplaced or minimally-displaced scaphoid fractures were included and then evaluated using scoring tools: Cochrane risk of bias tool and PEDro scale. Data were pooled using random-effects models with standard mean differences for continuous outcomes and risk ratios for dichotomous variables. RESULTS: The search yielded 339 potentially related articles, further trimmed down to eight studies based on the eligibility criteria. The meta-analysis revealed that surgical treatment resulted in significantly better functional outcomes than conservative treatment. Furthermore, surgery resulted in the prevention of delayed union of fractures and reduction of time needed to return to work. CONCLUSIONS: While four studies reported advantages of surgical treatment, evidence was insufficient to provide a definitive conclusion that surgery is a better option. Due to the significant limitations with respect to certain variables, the superiority of one method to the other could not be established.
