3.Sublingual epidermoid cyst resembling sublingual ranula: a case report

Dermoid cysts are anatomic embryonic abnormalities that are rarely seen in the oral cavity. Histologically, they are further classified as epidermoid, dermoid or teratoid. We report a case in which an 18-year-old girl who developed an epidermoid cyst presenting as a large sublingual swelling occupying the entire floor of the mouth causing snoring and speech difficulty. We emphasized on the clinical steps in achieving an accurate diagnosis, possible differential diagnosis, necessary imaging techniques and management of epidermoid cyst.

6.LIPOMAS OF THE MOUTH FLOOR AND SUBMANDIBULAR SPACE: REPORT OF 3 CASES.

Although the lipoma, a benign lesion composed largely of mature fat cells, is a common tumor that comprises 4% to 5% of all benign neoplasms, it is rarely seen in the oral cavities. Oral lipomas represent between 0.2 and 3.2% of all benign oral tumors. While lipomas in general more commonly affect female patients(68-73%), oral lipomas seem to appear more frequently in male patients. The majority of oral lipomas is seen after the age of 40 years. They may occur anywhrere in the oral cavity, but the cheek is the most common site. Surgical excision is the only treatment recommended and the prognosis is uniformly excellent. We report our experience of 2 cases of the lipoma in the mouth floor and 1 case of the lipoma in the submandibular space.

7.A Case of Multiple Dermoid Cyst of the Floor of the Mouth.

A multiple dermoid cyst is a rare tumor in the floor of the mouth. It presents as abnormal cystic development in the midline as a result of displaced or enclaved embryonic epithelium during the midline closure of the first and second bilateral branchial arches. Dermoid cyst is classified inot three categories according to its histological type; dermoid, epidermoid, and teratoma. The treatment of choice is complete surgical excision and prognosis is excellent. We present a recently encountered case of a multiple dermoid cyst in the floor of the mouth; the cyst was removed using the intraoral approach.

Dermoid cysts in floor of mouth are relatively rare. The term dermoid cyst is used to describe 3 cysts that are closely related histologically: dermoid cyst, epidermoid cyst, and teratoma. These are frequently mistaken as other pathology because of their location and rarity. Complete surgical excision is the treatment of choice and the recurrence is extremely rare. We report each case of epidermoid cyst and dermoid cyst of the floor of the mouth with a brief review of literatures.

9.A Case of Angiolipoma in the Floor of the Mouth.

Angiolipoma is a rare vascular variant of the benign lipomatous tumors. Especially, angiolipoma of the head and neck is extremely rare. To our knowledge, there are about 19 previously reported cases of angiolipoma of the head and neck in the world literature review. We experienced a case of angiolipoma that developed in the floor of mouth, and the tumor was successfully removed using the transcervical approach without any complications. We report a case of angiolipoma in the floor of mouth with a review of the related literature.

10.Cleft Palate Associated with Congenital Lipoma of the Palate in a Newborn.

Lipoma is relatively uncommon in the oral cavity, representing 1-5% of benign oral tumors. Lipoma of the oral cavity may occur in any region; the buccal mucosa, tongue, lip, and mouth floor are among the common sites. The majority of cases of oral lipoma occur after the age of 40 years, and it is not observed frequently in children. Congenital lipoma of the palate is extremely rare. Here we present a rare case of congenital lipoma of the palate associated with cleft palate of a neonate, and review the relevant literature. Surgical excision of the tumor was successful. The present case is the third case of congenital lipoma of the palate associated with cleft palate reported in the literature.
