1.The path analysis on family support, coping style and self-perceived burden in patients with COPD
Chinese Journal of Practical Nursing 2014;30(34):1-4
Objective To investigate the characteristics of self-perceived burden (SPB) in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD),and to explore the correlation among SPB and coping style and family support. Methods Three instruments including Self-Perceived Burden Scale,Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire and PSS-Fa were used to investigate 121 patients from a tertiary first-class comprehensive hospital of Guangzhou. Results The mean scores of SPB in patients with COPD was (25.65 ± 10.23),which was in the medium level.SPB was positively correlated with resignation of coping style, and negatively correlated with family support.Resignation of coping style had direct positive effect on patients' SPB and family support had indirect negative effect on patients' SPB,but had no effect on confront and avoidance coping style. Conclusions Nurses should take effective measures to improve family support and guide patients cope not with resignation style but in an appropriate way so as to alleviate patients' SPB.

ObjectiveTo compare the clinical efficacies between bloodletting cupping plus acupuncture and acupuncture alone in treating hypertension.MethodSixty patients with primary hypertension were randomized into a treatment group and acontrol group, 30 cases in each group. The treatment group was intervened by bloodletting cupping plus acupuncture, while the controlgroup was by acupuncture. The clinical symptoms, blood pressure, and hemorheological parameters were observed before and after intervention.ResultThe clinical symptoms were improved in both groups after intervention, and the total effective rate was 76.7%in the treatment group versus 63.3% in the control group; the blood pressure dropped in both groups, and the differences were statistically significant between the two groups (P<0.05); the treatment group was superior to the control group in improving the whole blood viscosity and erythrocyte sedimentation rate(P<0.01).ConclusionBloodletting cupping is effective in treating primary hypertension; regarding the short-term therapeutic efficacy, bloodletting cupping plus acupuncture can produce a more significant effect than acupuncture alone in improving the blood pressure, whole blood viscosity, and erythrocyte sedimentation rate in primary hypertension patients.

Objective To explore the correlation between nursing students' hardiness personality and professional commitment. Methods 1 115 undergraduate nursing students from 3 medical universities in Guangzhou were investigated with the scales of hardiness personality and nursing professional commitment. Results The scores of hardiness personality and professional commitment were (2.55 ± 0.44) and (2.70 ± 0.43),respectively,and both of them were at the middle level.Correlation analysis revealed that hardiness personality was positively related to professional commitment (P<0.01),and the challenge dimension of hardiness personality had positive predictive effect on professional commitment. Conclusions Nursing educators should take measures to improve students' hardiness personality and professional commitment. It would help maintain the stability of the whole nursing team.

Objective To explore the experience of self-perceived burden in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and provide evidence for clinical nursing interventions. Methods Indepth interviews were conducted among 17 patients with COPD using phenomenological method of qualitative research.Data were analyzed with the Colaizzi's method. Results 3 themes was identified:self-accusation and guilt, loss of dignity and powerlessness, concern and insecurity. Conclusions Nurses should take the experience of SPB in patients with COPD seriously and take the influence of SPB into account during the process of nursing interventions and evaluation.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the association of the time of initial diagnosis with the severity of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
METHODS:
A total of 803 patients who were diagnosed to have COPD for the first time in our hospital between May 2015 to February 2018 were enrolled in this study. The diagnoses of COPD and asthma COPD overlap (ACO) were made according GOLD guidelines and european consensus definition.Lung function of the patients was graded according to the GOLD guidelines.
RESULTS:
The patients with COPD had a mean age of 61.8±9.9 years, including 726 male and 77 female patients. The course of the patients (defined as the time from symptom onset to the establishment of a diagnosis) was 3(0.5,8) years.Among these patients,85.2% had a moderate disease severity (FEV1%<80%),and 48.3% had severe or very severe conditions (FEV1%<50%);47.0% of them were positive for bronchial dilation test.In the overall patients,295(36.7%) were also diagnosed to have ACO,and the mean disease course of ACO[3(1,9) years]was similar to that of COPD[3(0.5,8) years](>0.05).A significant correlation was found between the disease course and the lung function of the patients.Multiple linear regression analysis showed that an older age and a longer disease course were associated with poorer lung functions and a greater disease severity.
CONCLUSIONS
The delay of the initial diagnosis is significantly related to the severity of COPD.
