Long-term potentiation (LTP) of synaptic transmission between the dendrites of the pyramidal cells of CA[ region and the Schaffer-commissu-ral pathway was induced with electric stimulation in the isolated hippocampal slices of rats.The effects of 3 convulsants,soman,kianic acid.and picroto-xin,on the induction of LTP in this region were observed.It was found that a short series of electric impulses could effectively induce LTP in most of the slices of the hippocampus and the amplitude of the population spikes showed a similar change as the field excitatory postsynaptic potential did in the rising phase.Picrotoxin could facilitate the induction of LTP when it evoked an epileptoform electric activity in the slices,kianic acid could also evoke an epileptoform activity but significantly blocked the induction of LTP,and soman could not evoke obvious epileptoform activity but blocked the induction of LTP.The above findings suggest that a short series of electric impulses can effectively induce LTP between the pyramidal cells and the Schaffer-commisural pathway in the CA1 region,the effects of epileptoform activity on the induction of LTP depends on the mechanism to evoke the epileptoform activity,and the effects of soman on the induction of field potential may involve the noncholi-nergic system in the synaptic connections.

AIM: To investigate the differential expression profile between nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell line CNE1 and its steady EBV-LMP1-transfected cell line CNE1-LMP1, and to explore the regulatory effect of LMP1 on oncomiRs expression in CNE1 cell line. METHODS: A microRNA array that targets 132 of the most well studied oncomiRs was used to detect the expression profile of CNE1 and CNE1-LMP1. qRT-PCR assay were used to verify the expression data detected by microarray. RESULTS: Among the restricted 132 miRNAs, 30 were detectable. Among which, 30 were expressed in CNE1-LMP1, 19 in CNE1 and 11 were specifically expressed in CNE1-LMP1. Among the 19 shared miRNAs, the expression level of 6 miRNAs (hsa-miR-19b, hsa-miR-17-3p, hsa-miR-22, hsa-miR-149, hsa-miR-150 and hsa-miR-188) elevated over two folds in CNE1-LMP1. No decrease in miRNA expression more than two folds was observed. qRT-PCR confirmed the expression difference of these six miRNAs (P<0.01). Among the 11 specifically expressed miRNAs in CNE1-LMP1, hsa-miR-122a showed the highest expression level surpassing the internal control sample. CONCLUSION: Our data suggest that LMP1 may play an important role in regulating the expression of miRNAs in tumor, which may be another important pathway employed by LMP1 in the development of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Objective To observe inhibiting effect of endostatin on subcutaneous transplant tumor of breast carcinoma, and to illuminate the therapeutic effect of endostatin in the cancer. Methods The effect of en-dostatin on MCF-7 cell proliferation was studied by MTr. The model of MCF-7 cell transplant tumor on nude mice was constructed. Endostatin was injected intradermally around the transplant tumor. Inhibition effect on the tumor was observed. Results Endostatin with the concentration of 10 μ/mL and 15 μg/mL can inhibitMCF-7 cell proliferation effectively (P < 0. 05 ). After endostatin injection, tumor weight, volume and mi-crovessel density decreased significantly(P < 0.05 ). Conclusion Endostatin can inhibit breast carcinoma proliferation through inhibiting angiogenesis and the tumor cell itself.

Objective To probe into the psychological resilience and its influencing factor among parents of children with cancer.Methods A total of 125 parents were investigated by self-designed general information questionnaire,Connor-Davidson psychological resilience scale (CD-RISC),Chinese version of Parents' Perception Uncertainty in Illness Scale (PPUS),Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS),self-rating depression scale (SDS) and self-rating anxiety scale (SAS).Results The total score of psychological resilience was (54.86±12.88) and the illness uncertainty score was (91.52±14.66).The social support score was moderate with a total score of (39.86±7.99).The anxiety and depression among parents got a total score of (40.08±7.19) and (44.61±7.38) respectively.Psychological resilience was negatively correlated with illness uncertainty and depression,and was positively correlated with the social support.The depression,illness uncertainty,residence,children's age,clinical diagnosis entered into the multiple linear regression equation of psychological resilience,predicting 30.1％ of total variation in psychological resilience.Conclusions Social support,illness uncertainty and depression are the important factors which affect psychological resilience among parents of children with cancer.Nurses should assess the social support that parents receive,the level of depression and the disease feeling of the parents,and provide targeted interventions to relieve it,help to establish effective coping style and improve their psychological state.

Emerging and re-emerging RNA viruses occasionally cause epidemics and pandemics worldwide, such as the on-going outbreak of the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. Herein, we identified two potent inhibitors of human DHODH, S312 and S416, with favorable drug-likeness and pharmacokinetic profiles, which all showed broad-spectrum antiviral effects against various RNA viruses, including influenza A virus, Zika virus, Ebola virus, and particularly against SARS-CoV-2. Notably, S416 is reported to be the most potent inhibitor so far with an EC of 17 nmol/L and an SI value of 10,505.88 in infected cells. Our results are the first to validate that DHODH is an attractive host target through high antiviral efficacy in vivo and low virus replication in DHODH knock-out cells. This work demonstrates that both S312/S416 and old drugs (Leflunomide/Teriflunomide) with dual actions of antiviral and immuno-regulation may have clinical potentials to cure SARS-CoV-2 or other RNA viruses circulating worldwide, no matter such viruses are mutated or not.
