AIM: To compare the difference between medicinal and edible lilium brownii. METHODS: GC method was used for the determination of stigmasterol (the reference standard) in medicinal and edible Lilium brownii. And pharmacology experiment on stigmasterol was carried out. RESULTS: Stigmasterol had the antiinflammatory and anti-coughing effect. It represented the main effect of Lilium brownii. It was reasonable to be the reference standard. There were obvious differences in the stigmasterol content of medicinal and edible Lilium brownii. The stigmasterol content of medicinal Lilium brownii was much higher than that of the edible. CONCLUSION: Edible Lilium brownii can not be applied to clinical.

Objective To research the pharmacodynamics of lilium brownii Polysaccharide.Methods Five tests,including hypoxia tolerance test,serum content determination of SOD and MDA in mice,carbon clearance and weight determination of immune organ,content determination of serum hemolysin,and delayed-type hypersensitivity test were carried out to evaluate the main pharmacological indexes of lilium brownii Polysaccharide.Results Lilium brownii Polysaccharide can increase the hypoxia tolerance,anti-oxidation action and immuno-enhancing activity in mice.Conclusion Lilium browni Polysaccharide is one of the main active constituents of lilium brownii.

Objective: To observe the effect of Baihe Zhimu Decoction on serum sex hormone and uterus index of ovariectomized rats with kidney-yin deficiency. Methods: 3-month years old femal SD rats which were ovariectomized were divided randomLy into 6 groups: ovariectomized, Baihe Zhimu DecoctionⅠ, Baihe Zhimu DecoctionⅡ, Baihe Zhimu Decoction Ⅲ, Baihe Zhimu Decoction Ⅳ, then the normal group was set. The rats were induced to kidney-yin deficiency by using etraiodothyronine, then ig Baihe Zhimu Decoction for 4 weeks. The levels of sex hormone E2, FSH, LH in serum were detected and the indexes of uterus were caculated to observe the effect of Baihe Zhimu Decoction on sexual hormone and sexual organ in ovariectomized rats with kidney-yin deficiency. Objective To process the image of endoscopic uhrasonography(EUS)by digital imaging processing(DIP)and pattem recognition,and to evaluate its efficacy in diagnosis of pancreatic adenocarcinoma.Methods Two hundreds and sixteen patients,who underwent EUS between Feb 2005 and Feb 2007,were randomly recruited to the study.The cohort jncluded 153 cases of pancreatic cancer,which were confirmed by cytological findings after fine-needle aspiration,and 63 cases of non-pancreatic cancer(normal pancreas and chronic panereatitis).The texture features of the EUS image were selected and extracted,and cases were automatically divided into cancer and non-cancer based on findings of support vector machine (SVM).Sensitivity,specificity and accuracy of the technique were calculated.Results From each region of interest(ROI),a total of69 texture features vest in 9 sets were extracted,and 25 features with most set interval were taken as initial.The images of 216 cases were divided randomly into training set(108 eases,76 cancer and 32 non cancer)and testing set(108 cases,77 cancer and 31 non cancer).After 50 times of random tests,the average accuracy,sensitivity and specificity of the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer were (97.98±1.237)%,(94.32±0.0354)%,and(99.45±0.0102)%respectively.Conclusion DIP,combined with computer aided EUS imaging,is an accurate and noninvasive technique in diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.which warrants novel and further researches.

Objective To develop and evaluate the digital discrimination system for pancreatic ultrasound endoscopy images. Methods EUS images of 153 pancreatic cancer and 63 non-cancer cases were selected. According to the multi-fractal feature vectors based on the M-band wavelet transform, we acquired the fractal features with lower dimension with the feature screening algorithm. With the optimal feature combination, cases were classified into pancreatic cancer group and non-pancreatic cancer group automatically.Then the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of this method were calculated, and compared with those of traditional 9 dimension fractal feature vectors. Results Three kinds of multi-fractal dimensions were introduced to the framework of M-band wavelet transform according to the EUS images to form fractal vectors of 18 dimension. With the selection by sequence forward search (SFS) algorithm, 7 dimension of feature vectors were chosen and were combined with bi-order multi-fractal dimension to a better feature combination. The Bayes, support vector machine (SVM) and ModestAdaBoost classifiers were introduced to evaluate the classification efficiency, resulting in a classification accuracy of 97.98% and short running time of 0. 49 s with lower feature dimension. Conclusion These data suggest the feasibility, accuracy, noninvasiveness and efficacy of classification of EUS images to differentiate pancreatic cancer from normal tissue based on the Mband wavelet transform algorithm. It is a new and valuable research area in diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.

Objective To establish the normal reference range for serum folate of healthy children in Guangzhou region.Methods Levels of serum folate of 1 860 healthy children (1 061 males and 799 females) and 129 adults (52 males and 77 females) living in Guangzhou region were examined by LK3000V Vitamin Analyzer.Then the data were analyzed with statistical methods.Results ①There was no statistical difference between boys and girls for levels of serum folate in every group defined by age (P＞0.05).②The levels of serum folate [median(P2.5,P97.5)] defined by age were as follows:9.39 (6.12,14.85) nmol/L for 0～1 year-old group,10.65 (6.05,16.52) nmol/L for 1.01～17 year-old group and 11.12 (6.3,17.51) nmol/L for the adult group.Statistical difference was found between any two groups of the three (P＜0.05).③No statistical correlation was found between age and the level of serum folate (r=0.039,P=0.09).Conclusion Reference range for serum folate for healthy children in Guangzhou region include two parts:6.12～ 14.85 nmol/L for 0～ 1 year-old group and 6.05～～16.52 nmol/L for 1.01～17 year-old group.

Objective To explore the impact of NaF · EDTA-K2 on blood lipids measurement in pregnant women , determine whetherthe empty-stomach plasma for OGTT could be used as substitute for serumin blood lipids analyses.Methods Fastingplasma with NaF · EDTA-K2 and serumfrom 100 pregnant women werecollected,andconcentration of CHO,TG, HDL,LDL,apoA1 and apoB were tested with Hitachi 7 600 automatic biochemical analyzer.Data were analyzed by SPSS 19.0 software.Results The concentrations oflipids and lipoproteins with NaF · EDTA-K2 were slightly lower than those of serum.There were statistical significances between the means of CHO , HDL, LDL, apoA1 and apoBof two groups ( P<0.05) except TG.Correlation coefficients of the six analyteswere CHO 0.968, TG 0.995, HDL 0.979, LDL 0.991, apoA1 0.692, apoB 0.846respectively.Standard Error of Estimate for plasma were: CHO 0.281, TG 0.094, HDL 0.077, LDL 0.112, apoA1 0.230, apoB 0.111 respectively.The modified coefficients were 1.08 for CHO, HDL and LDL, 1.14 for apoA1 and 1.07 for apoB.Conclusion NaF· EDTA-K2 negatively biased the blood lipidsmeasurement of CHO , HDL, LDL, apoA1 and apoB in pregnant women,yet lipids concentrations in plasma with NaF · EDTA-K2 were closely related to those in serum , which may be used to predict the bloodlipidslevel of pregnant women afterajusted.

Objective To explore the correlation between renal damage of patients with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM ) and level of serum cystatin C(Cys C) .Methods Eutocia puerperas with single birth in this center from January 2011 to December 2012 were retrospectively analyzed .400 puerperas ,who were confirmed as GDM by oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) detection ,were collected .Among them ,200 puerperas with 24 h urinary protein content more than 0 .15 g during their 30 to 40 weeks of pregnancy were served as GDM group ,while another 200 puerperas with those not more than 0 .15 g as GDM control group .200 healthy puer-peras without GDM were served as the normal group .Serum uric acid ,creatinine ,urea ,Cys C and 24 h urinary protein content of them during their 30 to 40 weeks of pregnancy were detected .Results Serum uric acid and Cys C of patients in GDM group were obviously higher than those in the GDM control group(P<0 .05) ,while the differences of serum urea ,creatinine between the two groups showed no statistical significance (P>0 .05) .24 h urinary protein content was positively correlated with the serum uric acid and Cys C(r=0 .715 ,0 .863 ,P<0 .05) ,and had no correlation with urea and creatinine (P>0 .05) .Conclusion Serum Cys C may be used as indicators for early diagnosis and monitoring of renal damage in patients with GDM .

Objective Newborn bilirubin encephalopathy seriously threatens the life and health of newborns, Both the mortality and morbidity are high.Cerebrospinal fluid bilirubin concentration can better reflect the blood-brain barrier function and brain bilirubin levels, which can help the diagnosis of bilirubin encephalopathy.Methods In order to meet the clinical needs, we confirmed the detection performance of the existing serum bilirubin detection system for cerebrospinal fluid bilirubin, including precision, accuracy and analysis of measurement range.Results The results showed that the detection system was linear at 1.0-25.1μmol/L, and the daytime CVat normal and pathological values was less than the precision requirement (6％) .The bias of each sample and the average bias are less than the allowable bias (5％) , the total error is less than the total allowable error (15％) .Conclusion Therefore, the performance of the detection system meet the industry standards, can be used for neonatal cerebrospinal fluid bilirubin detection.
