BACKGROUND: In clinical practice, the selection of dental implants with different specifications is based on the patient' s mandibular plane angle, and the long-term success rate is different in dental implants with different specifications. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that the mandibular plane angle could affect the mandibular stress distribution of dental implants, thus affecting the success rate of dental implantation.OBJECTIVE: To perform an orthogonal experimental study on the mechanical effects of different implant specifications, mandibular plane angles and mandibular bone densities on stress distribution of the first mandibular molar implants.METHODS: A L9(33) orthogonal experiment was designed with 3 three-level factors, including mandibular plane angle (14°, 22°, 34°), implant diameter (6.6, 8.2, 9.6 mm), and mandibular bone density (types II, III, IV). Different dental implants with different combinations were implanted into an alveolar bone model, and placed onto a pressure testing machine under 500 N load. Then, strain (stress) data were collected in real-time and analyzed.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The optimal combination was as follows: low angle; 4.8 mm in diameter; mandibular bone with type II bone density. The relations of all the three factors were the diameter of dental implant > the mandibular plane angle > mandibular bone density. To conclude, the mandibular plane angle has some certain influences on the stability of dental implants. If the biting force is the same, dental implant bears the largest stress under the high angle, subsequently followed by the average angle and the low angle.

BACKGROUND:There is no effective drug for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), because of a lack of the animal model imitating the complete pathogenesis of human IPF. Therefore, it is critical to establish an ideal animal IPF model used for investigating the underlying pathogenesis and developing a kind of effective drug. OBJECTIVE:To establish an animal model that can mimic more characters of human IPF. METHODS:Seventy male C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into two groups, fol owed by subjected to the intraperitoneal injection of bleomycin (35 mg/kg) on days 1, 4, 8, 11, 15, 18, 22, and 25, twice (group A) or once (group B) a week. Mice were sacrificed at 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 weeks after the eighth injection, and the lung tissues were moved used for hematoxylin-eosin, Masson and immunohistochemical stainings. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:There were various degrees of alveolitis and pulmonary fibrosis in the two groups at different time points after the last injection. The scores of alveolitis and pulmonary fibrosis in the group A began to gradual y increase from the 2nd week and reached the highest level at the 6th-8th weeks until the 10th week. In contrast, the scores of alveolitis and pulmonary fibrosis in the group B peaked at the 2nd week, then fluctuately decreased, and were significantly lower than those in the group A at the 6th week (P<0.05). Immunohistochemistry showed that type I col agen deposition was mainly distributed in the subpleural region, peri-vascular region and alveolar septa, which was consistent with Masson staining findings. The expression levels of transforming growth factorβ1 (TGF-β1) andα-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) in the regions developing alveolitis and pulmonary fibrosis were significantly increased. In the group A, the expression levels of type I col agen, TGF-β1,α-SMA, and the hydroxyproline content in the lung tissues reached the peak level at 6-8 weeks. However, in the group B, al above indicators reached the highest level at the 2nd week, but gradual y decreased thereafter. At the 4th week, the expression Levels of TGF-β1 andα-SMA in the group B were significantly lower than those in the group A (P<0.05). At the 6th week, the hydroxyproline and type I col agen levels in the group B were significantly lower than those in the group A (P<0.05). In conclusion, the mouse model of pulmonary fibrosis induced by intraperitoneal injection of 35 mg/kg bleomycin twice weekly can be used to mimic the repetitive wound healing process, pathological morphology and cytokine changes of human IPF, which is prone to administration, with better stability and repeatability. This model is of great significance for the study on IPF. Subject headings:Disease Models, Animal;Pulmonary Fibrosis;Bleomycin

BACKGROUND:It is particularly important to establish an ideal animal model of pulmonary fibrosis to investigate the underlying pathogenesis and screen effective drugs to prevent and control pulmonary fibrosis. OBJECTIVE: To establish a modified scheme of establishing mouse models that can reflect pulmonary fibrosis formation in humans. METHODS: Fifty-six male C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into two groups: A (a single large-dose injection) and B (multiple smal-dose injections). Mice in group A were subjected to a single intravenous injection of bleomycin 200 mg/kgviathe tail vein; and mice in group B received intravenous injections of bleomycin 50 mg/kg via the tail vein per week, totaly for 6 weeks.

Objective:Eph is the largest member of the family of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTK). Hypermethylation of CpG island is an important mechanism leading to down-regulation of EphA7 in gastric cancer. The objective of this study is to investigate the expression level of EphA7 in gastric carcinoma and its roles in the development, progression and prognosis of gastric carcinoma. Methods:The expression level of EphA7 transcript in gastric carcinoma specimens and normal mucosa tissues was detected using real-time RT-PCR. Results:The expression level of EphA7 in gastric carcinoma was divided into three groups according to the expression rate in gastric cancer tissue and matched normal mucosa. Statistics analysis showed that the expression of EphA7 is significantly related to age and stage. Overexpression of EphA7 has a tendency to relate to metastasis. Conclusion:EphA7 is differentially expressed in gastric carcinoma specimens. Overexpression of EphA7 may play a role in the development and progress of gastric carcinoma.

ObjectiveTo analyze the HIV infection characteristics and influencing factors among the spouses of HIV/AIDS patients in Shanghai. MethodsA cross-sectional survey was conducted to collect demographic, behavioral, epidemiological and spousal HIV detection information of newly reported and married patients with HIV/AIDS in Shanghai from January 2018 to July 2022 in the comprehensive HIV prevention and control information system of Chinese Center for Disease Prevention and Control. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the HIV positivity rate of the spouses of HIV patients and the influencing factors were analyzed by univariate and multivariate logistic regression models. ResultsA total of 1 233 subjects were investigated, and the first HIV-testing positivity rate of the spouses of HIV/AIDS patients was 29.3% (361/1 233). There were statistically significant differences in the HIV-testing positivity rate among spouses of HIV/AIDS patients by different age, gender, education level, occupation, transmission route, quantity of non-marital sexual activities, quantity of homo-sexual activities, and baseline CD4 cell count level (P<0.05). Spouses of the HIV/AIDS patients aged ≥65 years old, female, heterosexual transmission, less non-marital sex, and no history of homosexual sex had relatively high HIV positive rate. The HIV-positive detection rate of spouses in the ≥65 age group was 1.81 times higher than that in the <45 age group. The HIV-positive detection rate of spouses in the female group was 3.66 times higher than that in the male group, and the HIV-positive detection rate of spouses in the homosexual transmission group was 0.25 times higher than that of the heterosexual transmission group. ConclusionRisk awareness of HIV infection among married people with spouses should be improved. The key populations with the characteristics such as females as the first HIV-positive reporter, and heterosexual transmission should be paid special attention.Their spouses should be mobilized to conduct HIV-testing as early as possible
