Objective:To compare the assessments of the presence or absence and the changes of post-treatment periapical lesions using periapical radiographs versus cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).Methods:Imaging records were selected from a sample of 233 radiographic examinations (in-cluding periapical radiographs and CBCT)of patients with chronic apical periododontitis who received treatment and review in Department of Cariology and Endodontology of Peking University School of Stoma-tology.After testing the inter-observer and intra-observer agreement, two observers determined the pre-sence or absence of a periapical lesion and classified the changes of lesions in 4 categories:absence,re-duction or enlargement of lesion,or uncertain. The differences between CBCT and periapical radiographs in detecting the presence or absence and the changes of periapical lesions were compared using McNemar test and Fisher’s exact test respectively. Results:In the study,233 teeth were assessed with both periapi-cal radiographs and CBCT images.Periapical lesions were detected in 178 teeth on CBCT scans and in 146 teeth on periapical radiographs.CBCT images revealed a significantly larger number of lesions than were revealed by periapical radiographs (P <0.01 ).There was disagreement on the changes of lesions between the two radiological technologies in 25% teeth, and the difference was statistically significant (P <0.01 ). Conclusion:Significant differences were observed between periapical radiographs and CBCT in detection of post-treatment periapical lesions and assessment of the changes of periapical lesions.

Objective To investigate the clinical pathological factors of papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC) with clinically node-negative sides of neck stage central lymph node metastasis. Methods Analysis of 136 cases of cNo stage of PTMC of clinical and pathological data, and using the PCR method for the detection of BRAFV600E mutation in the paraffin coated tissue. Results One hundred and thirty-six cases with PTMC lymph node metastasis rate was 38.2% (52/136),BRAFV600E mutation rate was 44.9% (61/136).Single factor analysis showed that the lymph node metastasis was related with BRAFV600E mutation and capsular invasion (P< 0.05).The size of the tumor was close to significant level (P=0.057).Multiple regression analysis showed that BRAFV600E mutation and capsular invasion were independent factors for affecting the central lymph node metastasis (P < 0.05).Conclusion The routine central lymph node dissection should be performed in patients with BRAFV600E mutation and tumor invasion.

Journal of Preventive Medicine 2024;36(7):598-602
Objective:
To investigate the prevalence and influencing factors of dyslipidemia among residents in Chengdu City, so as to provide insights into improving the prevention and control of dyslipidemia.
Methods:
Based on the baseline survey of the Natural Population Cohort Study in Southwest China, residents aged 30 to 79 years was selected from 34 towns (communities) in 5 counties (districts) of Chengdu City using the multi-stage stratified cluster random sampling method in 2018. Demographic information and lifestyle behaviors were collected through questionnaires. Blood pressure, fasting blood glucose, serum uric acid, total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) were collected through physical examination and laboratory tests. A multivariable logistic regression model was used to identify the factors affecting dyslipidamia.
Results:
A total of 21 113 participants were surveyed, including 9 331 males (44.20%) and 11 782 females (55.80%), and had a mean age of (50.80±12.32) years. The prevalence rate of dyslipidemia was 35.64%, and the prevalence rates of high TG, low-HDL-C, high TC and high LDL-C were 17.25%, 11.88%, 10.11% and 7.35%, respectively. Multivariable logistic regression analysis identified gender (male, OR=1.584, 95%CI: 1.463-1.716), age (50 to 79 years old, OR:1.221-1.444, 95%CI: 1.079-1.632), residence (urban, OR=1.123, 95%CI: 1.052-1.198), marital status (not married, OR=1.246, 95%CI: 1.128-1.376), educational level (high school and above, OR=0.914, 95%CI: 0.849-0.983), current smoking (OR=1.220, 95%CI: 1.121-1.327), drinking (1 to 2 d/week, OR=1.525, 95%CI: 1.368-1.700; 3 to 5 d/week, OR=1.857, 95%CI: 1.575-2.191; almost every day, OR=1.512, 95%CI: 1.269-1.801), sedentary time in leisure time (>2 h/d, OR=1.123, 95%CI: 1.046-1.206), central obesity (OR=2.212, 95%CI: 1.986-2.265), hypertension (OR=1.489, 95%CI: 1.388-1.598), diabetes (OR=1.998, 95%CI: 1.833-2.157) and hyperuricemia (OR=2.012, 95%CI: 1.848-2.192) as factors affecting dyslipidemia.
Conclusion
The prevalence of dyslipidemia among residents in Chengdu City was mainly associated with smoking, drinking, sedentary time, central obesity, hypertension, diabetes and hyperuricemia.

Objective: To analyze the clinical characteristics and current treating status from atrial ifbrillation (AF) patients with different gender in 20 emergency departments.
Methods: A total of 2015 consecutive AF patients from 20 emergency departments nationwide from 2008-11 to 2011-10 were retrospectively investigated. The patients were divided into 2 groups: Female group,n=1104 and Male group,n=911. The baseline clinical characteristics and current treating status were compared between groups, the risk of stroke in non-valvular atrial ifbrillation (NVAF) patients was evaluated by CHADS2 score and the factors affecting walfarin application were studied by Logistic regression analysis.
Results: Compared with Male group, Female group had the elder age (69.11 ± 12.96) years vs (67.67 ± 13.63) years,P=0.015, lower body mass index (BMI) (23.24 ± 3.73) kg/m2 vs (23.89 ± 3.47) kg/m2,P=0.000, more patients combining with heart failure (39.7% vs 34.6%,P=0.019), more patients with valvular heart disease (26.6% vs 12.4%,P=0.000). In contrast, Male group had more smokers (41.4% vs 5.1%,P=0.000), more patients combining with coronary artery disease (45.1% vs 39.1%,P=0.007) and more patients with previous history of myocardial infarction (9.5% vs 5.5%,P=0.001). The average CHADS2 score was higher in Female group than Male group (2.0 ± 1.4) vs (1.8 ± 1.4),P=0.008 and the proportion of patients with CHADS2 score ≥2 was higher in Female group than Male group (58.0% vs 51%,P=0.005). There were 407 patients of valvular heart disease with AF and 167 (41%) of them received walfarin treatment including 119 female and 48 male,P=0.713; 1608 NVAF patients with CHADS2 score≥ 2 and 105 of them received anticoagulation therapy including 54 female and 51 male,P=0.636.
Conclusion: The clinical characteristics and current treating status are different by gender from AF patients in 20 emergency departments in China.
