Journal of Peking University(Health Sciences) 2015;(3):455-458
Objective:To understand the status and identify the determinants of self-treatment of rural floating population in Beijing. Methods: The data were derived from the Fourth National Health Service Investigation of China, part of which was about rural floating population in Beijing. According to Andersen health services utilization model, Binary Logistic Regression model was used to analyze the influencing fac-tors. Results:In the study, 51. 7% of the research objects were inclined to self-treatment when they ever felt uncomfortable or sick in Beijing. The Binary Logistic Regression model suggested that, some factors from predisposing, enabling and need, were statistically significant determinants of utilization of self-treat-ment. Conclusion:There exists a certain percentage of self-treatment behavior for rural floating population in Beijing, and we should take some measures to promote the efficacy and safety of self-treatment.

Background Light leads to the damage of retinal function and structure by promoting the reproduction of radicals and lipid peroxides when retina is exposed to an intense light environment for a long time.It is necessary to study how to protect the retina against light-induced injury in ophthalmology. Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of anthocyanidin extracts in preventing retinal photic damage. Methods Eighteen clean male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly assigned to normal saline group, anthocyanidin group and mixed (hydrogen-rich saline (HRS) + anthocyanidin,1:1 in volume) group and 6 rats for each. The electroretinogram (ERG) with international standardized 5 items was recorded from all the rats before experiment.Normal saline, anthocyanidin extracts or mixed solution of 5 ml/kg were intraperitoneally injected in the three groups, respectively, for consecutive 5 days. Then the diffused light with the luminance intensity of (5000±300)lx was used to irradiate the right eyes of the rats for consecutive 3 hours during 19:00 through 7:00 in a device made by our laboratory, and the left eyes were covered at the same time. The ERG was repeatedly recorded 5 days after light irradiation. The rats were sacrificed at the end of the experiment and retinal sections were prepared for the histopathological examination. The functional and structural changes of retinas were compared among the different groups. The use of the rats followed the Statement of ARVO.Results The differences of rat body weight were not statistically significant among the three groups (before experiment:F =0.472,P =0.841 ; after experiment:F =0.658,P=0.762).No any significant difference was found in scotopic 0.01 ERG b wave, scotopic 3.0 ERG a and b waves, scotopic 3.0 oscillatory potentials, photopic 3.0 ERG b wave and 3.0 flicker P1wave between the left eyes and the right eyes in the three groups before experiment (P>0.05).The amplitudes of various waves of ERG were significantly declined in the right eyes compared with the left eyes (P<0.05).The mean differential values of scotopic 0.01 ERG b wave, scotopic 3.0 ERG a and b waves, scotopic 3.0 oscillatory potentials were significantly different(F =4.594,P=0.029; F=3.834,P=0.037; F=12.823,P=0.000; F=3.976,P=0.032),but those in photopic 3.0 ERG b wave were not statistically significant (F =1.488,P =0.259).Compared with the normal saline group, the differential values of scotopic 0.01 ERG b wave, scotopic 3.0 ERG a and b waves, scotopic 3.0 oscillatory potentials were all reduced in the anthocyanidin group and mixed group (P < 0.05).The cells of outer nuclear layer were decreased in the right eyes in the three groups compared with the left eyes, especially around the optic nerve head and the upside of the retina, with significant differences between them (P<0.05),and those in the anthocyanidin group and mixed group were significantly less than normal saline group (P<0.05).Conclusions Anthocyanidin has a protective effect on light-induced retinal damage of SD rats. The protective effect of anthocyanidin extracts is similar to the integrated effect of the mixed group.

It is well known that Tn5B1-4(commercially known as the High Five)cell line is highly susceptible to baculovirus and provides superior production of recombinant proteins when compared to other insect cell lines. But the characteristics of the cell line do not always remain stable and may change upon continuous passage.Recently an alphanodavirus, named Tn5 Cell Line Virus(or TNCL Virus),was identified in High Five cells in particular. Therefore,we established a new cell line,QB-Tn9-4s,from Trichoplusia ni,which was determined to be free of TNCL virus by RT-PCR analysis. In this paper,we describe the development of a novel cell clone,QB-CL-B,from a low passage QB-Tn9-4s cell line and report its susceptibility to ACMNPV,and the level of recombinant protein production. This cell clone was similar to its parental cells QB-Tn9-4s and Tn5B 1-4 cells in morphology and growth rate;although it also showed approximately the same responses to AcMNPV infection and production of occlusion bodies, there were higher levels of recombinant protein production in comparison to QB-Tn9-4s(parental cells)and High5 cells.

The influence of L-arginine on endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) and cyclooxygenase 2 (COX2) was observed in experimental pulmonary thromboembolism and the action mechanism on pulmonary thromboembolism was explored. Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group, model group and treatment group. Pulmonary thromboembolism models were established by auto-blood back transfusion, and L-Arg 100 mg/kg was intraperitoneally injected after successful model preparation. The animals were sacrificed at 3 h, 1 day, 3 days and 7 days after embolism. Plasma NO, TXB2 and 6-Keto-PGFla were detected. The expression of eNOS and COX2 protein and mRNA in pulmonary tissues was detected by immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR respectively. The results showed that pulmonary thrombosis could be seen post pulmonary embolism and inflammatory reaction was significant. Plasma NO was decreased (P<0.01), and the levels of TXB2, 6-Keto-PGF1alpha and T/P ratio were all elevated. The expression of eNOS protein and mRNA in the pulmonary tissue was down-regulated (P<0.05), while that of COX2 protein and mRNA was upregulated (P<0.01). In treatment group, the level of NO was increased, the levels of TXB2 and T/P ratio were decreased, but the level of 6-Keto-PGF1alpha was increased. The expression of eNOS protein and mRNA in pulmonary tissue was upregulated (P<0.05), while that of COX2 protein and mRNA was down-regulated (P<0.05). In conclusion, L-arginine can educe the role of pulmonary tissue protection through up-regulating the expression of intra-pulmonary NOS and down -regulating COX2 in pulmonary thromboembolism.
