Microbiology 1992;0(01):-
Three Gram-negative bacteria from commercial fresh fish were identified as Pseudomonas sp.,an important food spoilage bacteria, on the basis of 16S rDNA sequences.N-aeyl-homoserine lactones (AHLs) were the important quorum sensing molecules and regulated the expression of many characteristics in a cell-density-dependent manner in Gram-negative bacteria. The AHL biosensor detection revealed that three isolates produced AHLs molecules and strains FML05-1 and FML05-2 produced two types of AHLs at least and the main signal mole- cules were N-3-oxo-octanoyl-homoserine lactone(N-3-oxo-C_8-AHL).ALso the amount of AHL in FML05-2 reached to the maximum at 12h throughout growth. This was first study of quorum sensing signal molecule AHLs produced by the pseudomonas from food and layed the foun- dation for new strategies of food preservation based on interfering in quorum sensing of spoilage bacteria.

Objective To compare the short-term clinical outcomes of hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery(HALS),laparoscopic-assisted surgery (LAS)and open surgery(OS)for colorectal cancer treatment. Methods The clinical data of 74 patients underwent HALS,LAS and OS for colorectal cancer treatment between October 2011 and December 2015 were assessed retrospectively. All the surgeries were performed by the same surgical team. The intraoperative details, postoperative recovery, postoperative complications, oncologic results and cost were compared among the three groups. Results A total of 24 patients in HALS group,25 patients in LAS group and 25 patients in OS group were finally included. The gen-eral data and oncologic baseline were comparable among the three groups. The comparative results showed that the operative time increase d and in-cision length shortened gradually in OS group,HALS group and LAS group(P<0.05). HALS group was favor of less number of trocars used com-pared with LAS group(P<0.05),but there was no statistical difference of the conversion rate between the two groups(P>0.05). In terms of post-operative recovery, postoperative complications and oncologic results, there was no statistical difference between the three groups(P>0.05). As for cost, the total cost and operative cost of OS group were lower than HALS group and LAS group(P<0.05),but there was no significant differ-ence between HALS group and LAS group(P>0.05). The material cost increase gradually in OS group ,HALS group and LAS group(P<0.05), and there was no significant difference on the part of other cost among the three groups(P>0.05). Conclusion HALS,LAS and OS are compen-satory with each other, and clinicians can choose the reasonable procedure according to personal proficiency and situation of patients.

Objective To investigate the incidence of postoperative hepatic metastasis, clinicolpathological characteristics and the prognosis for pancreatic cancer. Methods Totally 83 cases with pancreatic cancer admitted in our hospital during January 2007 to September 2012 was retro?spectively analyzed according to clinicolpathological data. Results Postoperative liver metastasis occurred in 31 cases with a metastatic rate of 37.3%. The size(χ2=9.606;P=0.002),vascular invasion(χ2=4.794,P=0.029)and UICC stage(χ2=5.318,P=0.021)were correlated with he?patic metastasis. Univariate analysis revealed the poor prognosis in pancreatic cancer patient with hepatic metastasis(χ2=9.967,P=0.002). Cox re?gression analysis revealed hepatic metastasis as an independent prognostic factor(P=0.001). Conclusion Pancreatic cancer has a high possibility of hepatic metastasis. Postoperative hepatic metastasis was one of the independent factors for the prognosis of pancreatic cancer. Tumor size, vascular invasion and UICC stages were risk factors for postoperative liver metastasis of pancreatic cancer.

OBJECTIVETo explore effectiveness and safety of segmental anterior cervical decompression in treating multi-level cervical myelopathy.
METHODSTwenty-four patients with four levels of cervical myelopathy were treated with segmental anterior cervical decompression (reservation of middle vertebrae, bone graft and plate-screws fixation). Among patients, there were 15 males and 9 females aged from 47 to 75 (averaged 57.9) years old. Preoperative, postoperative at 1 week and the latest following-up AP and lateral X-rays were used to observe bone union, displacement of implant, adjacent segment degeneration, changes of Cobb angle of fusion segment. JOA scoring were applied for evaluate recovery of nerve function.
RESULTSAll operations were completed successfully, 2 cases ocurred hoarseness, and improved after treated symptomatically. Nineteen patients were followed up from 3.1 to 5.3 years with an average of 3.9 years. Bone union time ranged from 3 to 7 (averaged 4.5) months. No screw loosening and displacement occurred. Nine patients occurred titanium mesh subsidence in different degrees, and 4 of them subside >3 mm; four patients ocurred adjacent segment degeneration. Postoperative Cobb angle of fusion segment at 1 week (10.40±2.94)° was improved from preoperative (5.76±4.16)°, but decreased at the latest follow-up (8.57±2.82)°, and had significant meaning compared with preoperative (P<0.01). JOA score at the latest follow-up (14.6±1.1) was higher than that of before operation (8.2±1.9), and had siginificant differences (P<0.01).
CONCLUSIONSegmental anterior cervical decompression for the treatment of multilevel cervical myelopathy has a high clinical operability, and plays an important role in recovering cervical curvature and nerve function based on completely decompression.

Neurology Asia 2012;17(3):209-212
Objective: To investigate the value of the trigeminocervical response (TCR) for revealing bulbar
involvement in patients with spinal and bulbar muscular atrophy (SBMA). Methods: Thirty patients
with SBMA and 30 healthy male controls were included in this study. In all of the normal controls,
stimulation of the infraorbital nerve on one side produced bilateral short latency waves consisting
of a positive/negative wave, p19/n31, the mean latency of which was measured. The mean square
root of the ratio between the amplitude of p19/n31 and the mean rectifi ed surface electromyography
(EMG) activity preceding the stimulus, the A value, was estimated. The parameters of the TCR
were compared between the two groups. Results: Among the patients with SBMA, 21 (70.0%) had
delayed latencies of p19/n31 (P < 0.01) and all (100%) had reduced A values (P < 0.01) relative to
the normal controls.
Conclusions: All parameters of the TCR were signifi cantly different between the patients with SBMA
and the normal controls. T

OBJECTIVETo compare the effect of transumbilical single-site single-port with that of transumbilical single-site double-port laparoscopic varicocelectomy in the treatment of varicocele in adolescents.
METHODSWe randomly assigned 80 varicocele patients aged 10 - 16 years to two groups of equal number to receive transumbilical single-site single-port and single-site double-port laparoscopic varicocelectomy, respectively. We compared the operation time, postoperative hospital stay, incisional pain, complications and satisfaction with the abdominal cosmetic outcomes between the two groups.
RESULTSAll the operations were successfully performed. The double-port group showed a significantly higher score on the Visual Analogue Scale than the single-port group (4.8 +/- 1.4 vs 3.6 +/- 1.1, t = -4.986, P < 0.01), but there were no significant differences between the two groups in the operation time ([29.8 +/- 4.2] vs [31.2 +/- 4.6] min, t = 1.383, P = 0.171), postoperative hospital stay ([1.95 +/- 0.7] vs [1.82 +/- 0.8] d, t = -0.784, P = 0.436), complications (0 vs 0) and scores on the satisfaction with abdominal cosmetic outcomes (4.6 +/- 0.6 vs 4.8 +/- 0.5, t = 1.253, P = 0.214). No recurrence, umbilical hernia, hydrocele and orchiatrophy were found in the two groups of patients at 6 months after operation, and no visible scar was observed on the abdominal surface.
CONCLUSIONWith strict surgical indications, single-site single-port and single-site double-port laparoscopic varicocelectomies have similar clinical effects in the treatment of varicocele, which leave no scar on the abdominal surface. Single-site double-port laparoscopy needs no special instruments and therefore is worthier of wide clinical application.
