4.Application of antibody drugs in the field of anti-infection.
Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2015;50(12):1527-1533
In recent years, with the rapid development of antibody drugs, the antibody-based therapies have gradually expanded from the cancer and autoimmune diseases to metabolic and infectious diseases and so on. However, the development of antibody-based anti-infective drugs is much slower as there are only two kinds of drugs in the market. This is due to the complex infective mechanism of viruses, bacteria and other pathogens, and the monovalent character of monoclonal antibodies that greatly limit the anti-infection effect of antibody drugs. The development and application of novel technologies, such as recombinant polyclonal antibody technology, will greatly accelerate the development of antibody-based anti-infection drugs. This article will introduce the application and trends in the development of antibody-based drugs in the field of anti-infection therapy.

Ophthalmology in China 2009;18(4):254-256
Objective To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of retrobulbar injection with triamcinolone acetonide (TA) for macular edema caused by retinal vein occlusion (RVO). Design Retrospective case series. Participants 21 eyes of 21 patients with macular edema caused by RVO. Methods Retrobulbar injection with TA 40 mg was performed on 21 eyes. The visual acuity, intraocular pres-sure, fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA) and macular central thickness under the optical coherence tomography (OCT) were recorded and analyzed before and after treatment. The follow-up duration was 6-11 months. Main Outcome Measures The visual acuity and the macular central thickness of OCT. Result Visual acuity was improved at the end of follow-up in 16 eyes (76.2%) and unchanged in 5 eyes (23.8%). Macular central thickness was (287.55±121.70) μm at the end of follow-up and (617.23±185.58) μm before treatment. The difference was statistically significant(P=0.000). After treatment, the comparison of visual acuity and macular central thickness be-tween CRVO patients and BRVO patients, as well as between ischemic RVO patients and non-ischemic RVO patients had no significant difference (P>0.05). In patients of course less than 6 months, the visual prognosis after treatment is better than that of before treatment (P=0.011, 0.01), while in patients of course more than 6 months, no difference of vision could be detected before and after treatment (P= 0.583). The result of FFA showed decrease of fluorescein leakage. During follow-up, intraocular pressure of all patients was in the nor-real range. Recurrence of macular edema was found in 8 eyes 2 to 6 months after treatment. Conclusions Retrobulbar injection with TA is a safe, effective, and easy method to treat macular edema caused by RVO. Early treatment can get better efficacy. (Ophthalmal CHN, 2009, 18: 254-256)
6. Expressions of signal transducer and activators of transcription 3 (STAT3) and suppressor of cytokine signaling 3 (SOCS3) proteins in breast carcinoma and their association with biological behaviors
Tumor 2007;27(4):298-302
Objective: To investigate the expressions of signal transducer and activators of transcription 3 (STAT3) and suppressor of cytokine signaling 3 (SOCS3) protein in the breast carcinoma tissue and their relationship with tumor differentiation, invasion, and metastasis. Methods: The expression of STAT3, phospho-STAT3 and SOCS3 protein were determined by tissue microarray and immunohistochemistry with EnVision system in 71 cases of archival breast carcinoma tissues and 41 cases of noncancerous tissues. The relationship between their expression and the clinical pathological parameters were analyzed. Results: (1) The positive rates of STAT3, phospho-STAT3, and SOCS3 was 78.9%, 69.0%, and 29.6%, respectively. The difference was significantly different compared with control (P<0.01, P<0.01, and P<0.05). (2) The expressions of STAT3 and phospho-STAT3 were positively related with the histological grade, the axillary lymph node metastasis, and the clinical stage (P<0.01), but not related with the age, the tumor size, and the histological grade of breast carcinoma tissues (P>0.05). The expression of SOCS3 was negatively related with the histopathologic grade and the axillary lymph node metastasis (P<0.05), but was not related with the age, histological type, the tumor size, and the clinical stage (P>0.05). (3) The expression of STAT3 and phospho-STAT3 had negative correlation with the expression of SOCS3 in breast carcinoma tissues (P<0.01). Conclusion: The overexpressions of STAT3 and phospho-STAT3 and the down-regulated expression of SOCS3 closely correlated with the tumor carcinogenesis, progression, invasion, and metastasis of breast carcinoma. Detection of their expression is helpful in accessing the malignant degree and the biological behaviors of breast carcinoma.
