1.Relationship between gene expression and micro-differentiation:heat-shock protein 70 and c-fas genes in blood stasis syndrome of primary hypertension

BACKGROUND: Both c-fosand heat-shock protein (HSP) 70 genes are closely relevant with and participate in the occurrence and development of blood stasis syndrome of primary hypertension. It is importance to study on their correlation for prevention of primary hypertension.OBJECTIVE: Immunohistochemical method was used to determine the expression of HSP70 and c-fos genes in blood stasis syndrome of primary hypertension so as to probe into their correlation.DESIGN: Case analysis.SETTING: Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Medical College of Jinan University.PARTICIPANTS: Totally 148 cases of primary hypertension were selected, diagnosed in ward and clinic of Department of Cardiac Vascular Internal Medicine of Second Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from March 2002 to march 2003, of which, 80 cases were male and 48 cases were female.INTERVENTIONS: At 7:30 to 8:00 in the morning on the 3rd of hospitalization, 2 mL intravenous blood was collected in fasting for immunohistochemical determination of HSP70 and c-fos genes. Evaluative standards:negative expression (-), no brown-yellow stained cell appeared; positive expression (+), positive cell count of each high power field < 20%; dominant expression (++), positive cell count of each high power field was in the range from 20% to 50%; strong positive expression (+++), positive cell count of each high power field was > 50%. Ridit analysis statistical method was used for the correlation analysis.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Expression of HSP70 and c-fos genes.RESULTS: Totally 148 cases of primary hypertension participated in the experiment and the blood sample of all of those entered the result analysis.① Six cases presented positive expression of both HSP70 and c-fos genes.② Four cases presented dominant expression of HSP70 gene and positive expression of c-fos gene respectively. ③ Twelve cases presented strong positive expression of HSP70 gene and positive expression of c-fos gene respectively. ④ Six cases presented positive expression of HSP70 gene and dominant expression of c-fos gene respectively. ⑤ Nineteen cases presented dominant expression of both HSP70 and c-fos genes. ⑥ Sixteen cases presented strong positive expression of HSP70 gene and dominant expression of c-fos gene respectively. ⑦ One case presented positive expression of HSP70 gene and strong positive expression of c-fos gene respectively. ⑧ Twenty-eight cases presented dominant expression of HSP70 gene and strong positive expression of c-fos respectively. ⑨ Fifty-six cases presented strong positive expression of both HSP70 and c-fos genes. ⑩ The grade of positive expression presented significant correlation between HSP70 gene and c-fos gene (R =0.281 1-0.644 6, P<0.01).CONCLUSION: In blood stasis syndrome of primary hypertension, the high expression presents in both HSP70 and c-fos genes, indicating remarkably correlation.

3.Study on Correlativity of TCM Syndrome Types with Expression of c-fos and Other Genes in Leukocytes in the Patient of Hypertension and Type Ⅱ Diabetes with Blood Stasis

Objective: To further probe into mechanism and essence of blood stasis from gene level. Methods: 160 cases of hypertension and type Ⅱ diabetes with blood stasis or no blood stasis were strictly selected according to criteria of diagnosis and by combination of diseases with syndrome, and expressions of c-fos, c-jun and CD62p genes were investigated, compared and analyzed with healthy persons as controls. Results: There were abnormal expressions of c-fos,c-jun and CD62p genes in the patient with blood stasis, and there were close relation of the abnormality and expression levels of the genes with various types of blood stasis. Conclusion: Genomics is the best way for studies of essence of blood stasis syndrome, which can enrich and develop basic theory of TCM and provide a basis of molecular biology for clinical therapeutics of TCM.
4.Discussion on application of Chinese medicine treatment of gynecological diseases.

With rapid social development rhythm, the incidence of gynecological diseases gradually rise. Traditional Chinese medicine has made irreplaceable position in the treatment of gynecological disease. Due to the characteristics of gynecological diseases, the syndrome differentiation and treatment has unique characteristics. In this paper, according to menstrual disease, leukorrheal diseases, pregnancy diseases, puerperal diseases and miscellaneous diseases in order, combining documents discussion and old doctors of traditional Chinese medicine treatment of gynecological disease experiences, illustrate the key points of drug selection in the treatment process. We can get a revelation that appropriate choice of tradition Chinese medicine is an indispensable part for healing effects. Through the analysis of characteristics of drugs, we can understand the feature of each period in disease of department of gynecology, increase the ability of usinig traditional Chinese medicine and improve the level of clinical treatment.

5.Observation and comparison on two disinfection methods with medical wiping towel

Objective To discuss the disinfection effect of the wiping towel with microwave oven. Methods 200 wiping towels were chosen in class Ⅱ environment in our hospital. 100 wiping towels (the control group)were disinfected by soaking in the chlorine-containing disinfectant,the other (the observation group )by microwave. The disinfection effect, the disinfection time, and the economic cost in three months were compared between two groups. Results There was no significant difference between two groups in the disinfection effect. There was significant difference between two groups in the disinfection time,the economic cost in three months. Conclusions Adopting microwave oven for towel disinfeciton has reliable result and is convenient. It costs shorter time and lower cost. The new method has no chemical side effect and can replace traditional method. It is an ideal disinfection method and worthy of clinical application.
6.Laparoscopic versus Open Cholecystectomy in Aged Patients in Plateau Region:A Clinical Comparison of Cardiopulmonary Complications

Objective To evaluate the safety of laparoscopic cholecystectomy's in aged patients in plateau region.Method From January 2005 to June 2006,a total of 64 local aged gallbladder disease patients were included,in which 32 cases received open cholecystectomy(OC)and 32 cases received laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC).Postoperative cardiopulmonary complications were compared.Results In the LC group,1 case of acute pneumonedema,1 case of chronic right heart failure and 1 case of pulmonary infection occurred;and 3 cases of left heart failure accompanied with pneumonedema,2 cases of right heart failure and 5 cases of pulmonary infection occurred in the OC group.The incidence of cardiopulmonary complications of the LC group was significantly lower than that of the OC group(9% vs 31%,?2=4.730,P=0.030).Conclusions In the circumstances of high altitude,low atmospheric pressure and low oxygen partial pressure,LC is safer than OC for aged patients in regard to postoperative complications.
7.ROS level and ASK1 protein expression in myocardium during chronic pressure overload in rat left ventricle

Objective To study the effect of apoptosis signal regulating kinase 1(ASK1) protein expression in hypertrophic myocardium in rat models of hypertension.Methods The rat model of hypertension was established by abdominal aortic constriction.Six weeks later,the reactive oxygen species(ROS) level and ASK1 protein expression in myocardium of left ventricle were detected respectively by color matching and Western blotting.Results The left ventricular mass index,ROS level and ASK1 protein expression all increased significantly in hypertensive rats as compared with those underwent sham operation.Conclusion Under chronic pressure overload,the activated ASK1 with the increasing ROS may play an important role in signal transduction pathway of myocardial hypertrophy.

9.The Study of the Maturation of Postural Equilibrium in Young Children

Objective To study the maturation of the postural equilibrium in young children and the effects of eye-closure.Methods Altogether 214 healthy children age 4~15 were examined for upright postural equilibrium using a computerized equilibrium instrument(ST-939).With 20 healthy adults as control group,the velocity of postural sway was measured.Results ①Within the age-range of the children tested,postural sway decreased linearly with age.②Eye-closure had a remarkably effect on children's sway velocity in comparison with adult values before age eight.Conclusion Children's postural stability gradually maturates with the age.Young children may use visual information to control balance in a manner different from that of adults.It is not until after eight-year old that adults-like balance-control strategies begin to appear.
