Twenty-four hours later, animals in the three groups were anaesthetized. Then the transdiaphragmatic pressure (Pdi) and diaphragm evoked potential(DEP) were measured, SOD activity and MDA content were tested and the ultrastructure of diaphragm cells was observed under electron microscope. Adriamycin could lower the Pdi and amplitude of DEP (P
4.Thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor and its cleavage and shedding
Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2006;0(03):-
Thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor(TSHR)is an important autoantigen whose cleavage and shedding can induce autoimmunity. The TSHR is the main functional receptor of the thyroid. The shedding of the ? subunit plays an important role in the forming of TSAb and balancing between TSAb and TBAb.Research on the cleavage and shedding of the TSHR extracellualar domain helps to gain a deep insight into the structure and function of TSHR,illuminate the pathogenesis of autoimmune thyroid disease and find out a new therapy. The structure of TSHR,the mechanism and the significance of its cleavage and shedding are reviewed in this article.

Objective To observe the effects of gypenosides(GP) on cardiac dysfunction induced by adriamycin in rats and to investigate the therapeutic mechanism. Methods Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 5 groups:control group, adriamycin(ADR) group,low-,moderate-and high-dose GP groups. The low-,moderate-and high-dose GP groups received GP 100,200 and 400 mg? kg-1? d-1 for five days respectively.Meanwhile, the purified water was given to rats of control group and adriamycin groups. On the sixth day,adriamycin(10 mg? kg-1) was given intraperitoneally(ip) to all the groups except the control rats.At the twenty-fourth hour after administration of adriamycin, the cardiac functions such as left ventricular systolic pressure(LVSP),maximal rates of increase and decrease of left ventricular pressure(? dp/dtmax),as well as the activities of cardiac ATPase, succinic dehydrogenase(SDH) and sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+-ATPase(SERCA2a) were measured. Results The impairment of heart function induced by adriamycin was relieved and the activities of cardiac ATPase,SDH and SERCA2a were obviously increased after GP treatment. Conclusion GP have protective effects on cardiac dysfunction induced by adriamycin in rats, and the mechanism may be related to the increase of activities of cardiac ATPase,SDH and SERCA2a.

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1986;0(05):-
Antiinf lammatory effects of Ferulofen ( FL ) were shown by im or ip on xylene-induced swellingof mice ear, carrageenin produced edema of hind paw in rats, and decreased volume of pleural exud- ate on carrageenin-induced acute pleurisy of rats, FL also inhibi-tied the proliferating granuloma by croton oil. The above dose r-ange in 50-100mg/kg im or ip which presented a good dose-effect relationship, FL also inhibited the mice writhing caused by H AC & tail-flick response to 1 light irradiation, suggesting its strong analgesic effect. In addition, its anticancer effect in vitro ( carcinoma of Ehlrich ascitis)was better than that in vivo ( Sl80 sarcoma) in mouse. So FL may be considered to be a promising new type of non-steroidal antiinflammatory & anticancer drug ,worthy of further reseaching & exploring in the future.

Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2006;0(02):-
Objective To explore the effects of oxidative stress in porcine iliac endothelial cells(PIECs) induced by high glucose. Methods After being intervened by high glucose for some time, dihydroethidium (DHE) or dihydrorhodamine 123 (DHR123) was used as a reactive oxygen species(ROS) capture. The mean fluorescent intensity(MFI) of above probes which were the products of intracellular oxidation was detected by fluorescent microscopy and flow cytometry, and the level of ROS was thus measured. With lucigenin as chemiluminescence agent, luminescence changes were detected by chemiluminescence analyzer after addition of NADPH to observe the effect of high glucose on activity of NADPH oxidase(NOX). Results Intracellular MFI was markedly elevated with the concentration of high glucose and time of exposure to high glucose. It was revealed by flow cytometry that the NOX activity was significantly activated compared with normal medium treated PIECs(P
