Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2014;31(6):1229-1232
Dental impressions are widely used in the field of oral restoration. The materials are used for making impression in oral cavity. In order to measure the thickness of impression for reference in clinic, the real impressions are taken as the object for studying. Through optical method, charge-coupled device (CCD) is used for collecting the grey image of cutting section of the impressions which are located in the same plane with steel dividing ruler. According to convert relationship between dividing ruler and pixels collecting grey image, the thickness of impression specimens can be obtained. The results show that the optical method used for measuring thickness is feasible to the task and the precision can reach micro dimension. The experiment method and technique can also be provided for measuring thickness of similar tissue engineering materials.

Cancer Research and Clinic 2010;22(z1):36-37
Objective To investigate the expression of Survivin gene and the relationship between Survivin and genesis and development of cervical cancer. Methods The expression of Survivin gene in tissues of 40 patients with cervical cancer, 38 patients with cervical hyperplasia and 10 cases of normal cervical were detected by immunohistochemical SP method, and the relationships between Survivin and the clinical pathological factors were analyzed. Results The expression positive rate of Survivin in cervical cancer tissues (60 %) was significantly higher than that in cervical hyperplasia and normal cervical tissues (42.1 % and 0, respectively), and their differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The positive expression rate of Survivin was related with histological grade and the clinical stages of cervical cancer. Conclusion Survivin is related to the genesis and development of cervical cancer.

Microbiology 1992;0(03):-
To improve and optimize marine antimicrobial peptide R-1 production by a newly isolated Brevibacillus laterosporus Lh-1, Plackett-Burman (PB) design and response surface methodology (RSM) using central composite design was adopted in culture conditions. MINITAB 15.0 was used for planning the experiments, data analysis, contour diagrams and response optimizations. In this study, PB design was undertaken to evaluate the effects of the fifteen factors. By the statistical regression analysis, the significant factors affecting the novel antimicrobial peptide R-1 in submerged fermentation by Br. laterosporus Lh-1 were determined as follows: glucose, peptone and CaCl2. Then a RSM was used to optimize the above critical internal factors, and the optical concentration of the variables were deter-mined as: 15.72 g/L glucose, 6.01 g/L peptone and 3.29 g/L CaCl2. The content of R-1 was increased from 82.15 kU/mL to 116.27 kU/mL.

Objective This study aimed at evaluating the safety and feasibility of transumbilical single site laparoscopic appendectomy (SSLA) by systematic review and Meta analysis of literature comparing with conventional tree-port laparoscopic appendectomy (CLA).Methods The articles published from January 2000 to December 2012 were searched from electronic databases of PubMed,Embase, and the Cochrane Library. The literature with comparative studies of SSLA with CLA for adult patients was selected. And,the systematic review and Meta analysis carried out using Stata software. Results Eleven articles with 998 cases receiving operation during March 2008 to October 2011 were enrolled into study. There were 435 cases with SSLA and 563 cases with CLA.Compared the cases with SSLA and cases with CLA,there was no difference significantly in operative time (z =1.48,P =0.140),pain score in the 24 hours after surgery (z =0.83,P =0.409),diet start(z =0.38,P =0.707),postoperative complications (z =0.46,P =0.647),hospital stay (z =0.36,P =0.722).Conclusions SSLA are not different in operative time, postoperative pain, diet start, postoperative complications, hospital time comparing with that in CLA.

ObjectiveTo investigate the association of bacterial translocation (BT) with cachexia and its impact on the outcome of gastric cancer patients.MethodsSixty cachectic gastric cancer patients,50 age- and sex-matched non-cachectic gastric cancer patients, and 55 healthy controls were enrolled in this study between January 2008 and July 2009.Polymerase chain reaction was performed to detect bacterial DNA in the peripheral blood of cancer patients and healthy controls,Cytokine levels were tested by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Flow cytometry was used to detect immune indicators. All the enrolled patients were followed up for two years, and the two-year survival rate was calculated.ResultsThe BT ratio was significantly higher in cachectic patients than in non-cachectic patients (25.0% vs.8.0%,P =0.019) and healthy controls (25.0% vs.0.0%,P =0.000).BT-positive cachectic patients had significantly higher levels of IL-1α,IL-6,TNF-α,and IFN-γ compared with BT-negative cachectic patients ( P =0.012,0.003,0.036,and 0.017,respectively ) and BT-positive non-cachectic patients ( P =0.011,0.034,0.000,and 0.022,respectively).The two-year survival rate in BT-positive cachectic patients was significantly lower than in BT-negative cachectic patients (P =0.023 ).The levels of CD3 +T,CD4+ T,natural killer cells, and CD4 + T/CD8 + T in gastric cancer patients were significantly lower than in healthy controls ( P =0.023,0.031,0.016,0.041,respectively),whereas CD8 + T level was significantly higher in gastric cancer patients than in healthy controls (P =0.038).ConclusionBT may contribute to the development of cancer cachexia and influence the long-term survival of locally advanced gastric cancer patients.

Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 1985;0(01):-
A cross sectional study of 769 patients was performed to evaluate the association of blood uric acid with coronary heart disease (CHD) in different metabolic disorders. It showed that uric acid was not independently associated with CHD. However, when the other abnormal metabolic factors were absent, uric acid might be related to CHD.

Through the sexual activity test in Drosophila melanogaster, the antistress test in mice, the influence on sexual gland development of young mice model with yang-deficiency and the Vc content of adrenal gland in rats, the kidney reinforcing and kidney-yang invigorating action of Shen'ebutin oral liquid(SBOL)was evaluated and compared with Guilinji(GLJ),a traditional tonic prescription recorded in Chinese pharmacopocia(1990 edition). The results showed that the therapeutic effects of SBOL were evident and were stronger than GLJ in some aspects.

Journal of Medical Research 2006;0(09):-
Objective To assess the safety and efficacy of patients with acute myelogenous leukemia treated with mitoxantrone/arabinosylcytosin versus daunorubicin/arabinosylcytosin.Methods We searched Pubmed,Embase, the Cochrane Library,Chinese biomedicine literature database,Chinese Scientific Journals full-text database, and Chinese Journal full-text database for randomized controlled trials comparing MA regimen with DA regimen. We manually searched key Chinese magazines of related fields. The quality of included studies was evaluated and graded according to Cochrane Reviewer's Handbook. Results Nine randomized controlled trials totaling 608 patients were included.Meta-analysis results were as follows:There was significant difference between MA regimen and DA regimen in total complete remission rate [RR=1.24,95%CI(1.10,1.40)]and effective rate[RR =1.22,95%CI(1.09,1.36)] after the second course of treatment. There was significant difference between MA regimen and DA regimen in heart toxicity incidence [RR=0.54,95%CI(0.29,0.99)],infection incidence [RR=1.56,95%CI(1.29,1.94)],agranulocytosis time [RR=2.70,95%CI(2.09,3.31)].There was no significant difference in nausea and vomitting [RR=0.96,95%CI(0.87,1.07)].Conclusion Current clinical studies might confirm that MA regimen is superior to DA regimen in complete remission rate and effective rate in treating the patient with initial treatment acute myelogenous leukemia.Fewer patients receiving MA regimen experienced heart toxicity incidence compared with patients receiving DA regimen, but more experienced infection and agranulocytosis. They still need to be confirmed by large sample, high quality randomized controlled trials.
