Recent years have witnessed significant advancements in myopia control research through the application of diffuse optical technology(DOT)spectacle lenses. Myopia has emerged as a global public health challenge, affecting nearly half of the world's population, with childhood and adolescent myopia rates continuing to rise. DOT lenses represent an innovative myopia control intervention based on retinal contrast signal theory. These lenses incorporate micro-light scattering dots distributed across the lens surface to reduce retinal imaging contrast and modulate the influence of visual input on axial elongation, thereby slowing myopia progression. The core mechanism operates through refractive index differences between the lens substrate(1.53)and scattering dots(1.50), which generate optical scattering effects. This design maintains clear vision through a central 5 mm optical zone while effectively reducing contrast signal intensity in the peripheral retina. Large-scale randomized controlled trials, including the CYPRESS study, have demonstrated significant myopia control efficacy in children aged 6-10 years: 12-month follow-up data revealed a 74% reduction in myopia progression and a 50% reduction in axial elongation, with sustained safety and visual quality maintained over 4-year long-term follow-up. However, several aspects of DOT technology remain contentious and require further clinical validation, including its applicability across different age groups, optimal scattering dot density configurations, combined application effects with other myopia control methods, and long-term visual adaptation during extended use. This review systematically examines the theoretical foundations, design characteristics, clinical application progress, and future development directions of DOT technology, providing scientific evidence for clinical myopia prevention and control strategy formulation.

Acute lung injury (ALI) is a significant complication of sepsis, characterized by high morbidity, mortality, and poor prognosis. Neutrophils, as critical intrinsic immune cells in the lung, play a fundamental role in the development and progression of ALI. During ALI, neutrophils generate neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), and excessive NETs can intensify inflammatory injury. Research indicates that Taohe Chengqi decoction (THCQD) can ameliorate sepsis-induced lung inflammation and modulate immune function. This study aimed to investigate the mechanisms by which THCQD improves ALI and its relationship with NETs in sepsis patients, seeking to provide novel perspectives and interventions for clinical treatment. The findings demonstrate that THCQD enhanced survival rates and reduced lung injury in the cecum ligation and puncture (CLP)-induced ALI mouse model. Furthermore, THCQD diminished neutrophil and macrophage infiltration, inflammatory responses, and the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including interleukin-1β (IL-1β), IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α). Notably, subsequent experiments confirmed that THCQD inhibits NET formation both in vivo and in vitro. Moreover, THCQD significantly decreased the expression of peptidyl arginine deiminase 4 (PAD4) protein, and molecular docking predicted that certain active compounds in THCQD could bind tightly to PAD4. PAD4 overexpression partially reversed THCQD's inhibitory effects on PAD4. These findings strongly indicate that THCQD mitigates CLP-induced ALI by inhibiting PAD4-mediated NETs.

Objective:To develop the Suicide Outcomes Scale for Undergraduates with Suicidal Ideation(SO-SUSI)and test its validity and reliability.Methods:Based on semi-structured interview,literature review and expert discussion,main aspects and indicator system were defined.The initial version of SOSUSI was formed,and items were either modified from existing scales targeting the relevant constructs,or compiled according to previous inter-view results.A total of 607 undergraduates with suicidal ideation were enrolled.The sample was randomly divided in half,one half(n=317)was used for item analysis and exploratory factor analysis,and another half(n=290)for confirmatory factor analysis.All data were used for reliability analysis.The Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS)and Suicidal Intent(SI)were used for criterion validity.Results:The SOSUSI included 39 items in 4 dimensions(nega-tive reinforcement of suicide,negative consequences of suicide,loss of suicide,and positive reinforcement of sui-cide)which explained 50.10％of the total variance.Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the four-factor struc-ture model fitted well(x2/df=3.27,CFI=0.92,TLI=0.91,IFI=0.92,SRMR=0.09).The scores of negative re-inforcement and positive reinforcement of suicide were positively correlated with the SDS and SI scores(ICC=0.15-0.33,Ps＜0.05),while the scores of negative consequences and loss of suicide were negatively correlated with the SI scores(ICC=-0.42--0.56,Ps＜0.05).The Cronbach's α coefficients of each dimension ranged from 0.79 to 0.91.Conclusion:The Suicide Outcomes Scale for Undergraduates with Suicidal Ideation(SOSUSI)has good validity and internal consistency reliability.

Abstract In recent years, the research perspective of the prevention and intervention of children s sexual assault abroad has expanded from the victim s perspective of children s self protection education and post mortem remedy to the screening and intervention education of perpetrators in advance, so as to implement the primary prevention of children s sexual assault from the source. The article will summarize the current situation of foreign research on child sexual assault prevention from the perspective of perpetrators, including the target population, prevention practice and forms, so as to provide a reference for the primary prevention of child sexual assault from the perspective of perpetrators in China.

Objective To examine the effect of ground cage use on Oncomelania hupensis spread, so as to provide insights into precision snail control. Methods Twenty ground cages that were frequently used to capture rice field eels were purchased, including 11 packaging tape-made cages, 7 plastic cages and 2 nylon rope-made cages. The eel-capturing activity was mimicked, and 20 ground cages were assigned in settings with relatively high (1.00 snail/0.1 m² and higher) and low snail densities (< 1.00 snail/0.1 m²) in Xindai Township, Pinghu City, Zhejiang Province during the period from 15 : 00 to 8 : 00 of the following day on April 13, 26 and 28. The numbers of snails carried by different types of ground cages were compared in settings with different types of snail densities using the rank-sum test. Results A total of 11 cage-times were assigned in settings with a high snail density, and a total of 77 snails were captured, with a mean number of 7 snails in each cage-time and 2.15 snails in 0.1 m² ground cage. The mean numbers of snails carried by packaging tape-made and plastic cages were 2.47 snails/0.1 m² cage and 0.37 snails/0.1 m² cage, respectively. A total of 24 cage-times were assigned in settings with a low snail density, and a total of 8 snails were captured, with a mean number of 0.33 snails in each cage-time and 0.09 snails in 0.1 m² ground cage. The mean numbers of snails carried by packaging tape-made cages were 0.12 snails/0.1 m² cage; however, no snails were carried by plastic or nylon rope-made cages. The number of snails carried by ground cages was higher in settings with a high snail density than in settings with a low snail density (Z = −4.019, P < 0.01), and the number of snails carried by packaging tape-made cages was higher in settings with a high snail density than in settings with a low snail density (Z = −4.086, P < 0.01). No significant differences were found in the numbers of snails carried by different types of ground cages. Conclusion The use of ground cage in snail habitats is a contributor to snail spread.

Objective:To investigate the current situation of satisfaction with graduate education among recent medical graduates in China, and analyze the differences between different populations, and to propose countermeasures and suggestions.Methods:From June to July 2023, a self-made questionnaire was used to survey 16 903 medical graduates who had recently earned a post-graduate degree from 78 institutions about their satisfaction with curriculum sessions, practical sessions, research training, tutoring, and institutional management. The degrees of satisfaction with education among different populations were compared through the t test and analysis of variance with the use of SPSS 26.0. Results:The scores of satisfaction of the graduates with tutoring, curriculum sessions, practical sessions, institutional management, and research training were 4.44, 4.03, 4.02, 3.90, and 3.82, respectively. Satisfaction scores for individual dimensions were significantly higher for males, doctors, non-transfers, comprehensive universities, non-agricultural household registration, moderate-to-high annual household income per capita, parents with high educational levels, and parents with mid- or senior-level occupations ( P<0.05). Conclusions:There is room for improvement in students' satisfaction with medical graduate education. To improve the quality of medical graduate education, attention should be paid to key populations, education policies, school management, and tutoring to provide appropriate education for different students.

Objective: To investigate the mechanism underlying the effects exerted by the Qizhu prescription (QZP) in breast cancer (BC), and the respective targets. Methods: Expression data from the ArrayExpress and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) were used to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in BC. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analyses were performed on the DEGs to identify genes involved in protein–protein interactions. Molecular docking was used to explore the dynamic relationship between active molecules and targets. Cell function experiments and animal studies were conducted to evaluate the effects of hub genes and active QZP compounds on BC cell behavior. Results: Among the 25 evaluated BC-related targets of QZP, matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP1) and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) exhibited the highest degrees of dysregulation. GO and KEGG enrichment analyses revealed that the anti-BC targets of QZP primarily affected drug responses and pathways in cancer cells. Molecular docking analysis suggested potential interactions between EGFR and quercetin/luteolin, as well as between MMP1 and luteolin/kaempferol/quercetin. Quercetin significantly reduced BC cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and tumor development in vivo. Treatment of BC cells with quercetin decreased the expression or activation of several associated proteins. Conclusion The findings of our study provide new insights into the therapeutic potential of traditional Chinese medicine against BC, with particular reference to QZP.

Objective:To investigate the characteristics of neointimal hyperplasia (NIH) in patients with in-stent restenosis (ISR) over 5 years post-drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation based on optical coherence tomography (OCT).Methods:In this cross-sectional study, patients with DES-ISR who underwent OCT examination at PLA General Hospital between March 2010 and March 2022 were retrospectively included. All patients were divided into≤5 years DES-ISR group and>5 years DES-ISR group according to the time interval after DES implantation. Quantitative and qualitative analyses were conducted on OCT images to compare the clinical data and lesion characteristics of two patient groups. Furthermore, the independent clinical predictive factors of in-stent neoatherosclerosis (ISNA) were analyzed by multivariable logistic regression.Results:A total of 230 DES-ISR patients with 249 lesions were included, with an age of (63.1±10.4) years and 188 males (81.7%). The median interval after DES implantation was 6 (2, 9) years. There were 117 patients (122 ISR lesions) in the≤5 years DES-ISR group, and 113 patients (127 ISR lesions) in the>5 years DES-ISR group. Compared with≤5 years DES-ISR,>5 years DES-ISR showed more heterogeneous patterns (65.4% (83/127) vs. 48.4% (59/122), P=0.007), diffuse patterns (46.5% (59/127) vs. 31.2% (38/122), P=0.013), macrophage accumulations (44.1% (56/127) vs. 31.2% (38/122), P=0.035) in NIH and higher prevalence of ISNA (83.5% (106/127) vs. 72.1% (88/122), P=0.031). According to multivariable logistic regression, the independent predictive factor for ISNA was female ( OR=0.44, 95% CI 0.21-0.90, P=0.026). Female ( OR=0.48, 95% CI 0.23-0.99, P=0.046) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol level ( OR=1.62, 95% CI 1.01-2.59, P=0.046) were independent predictive factors, respectively, for lipid ISNA. Calcified ISNA was independently associated with time interval of post-DES implantation ( OR=1.18, 95% CI 1.07-1.29, P=0.001). Conclusion:DES-ISR patients with a time interval of>5 years after stent implantation have a higher prevalence of ISNA and more complex lesions. Gender, the level of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and the time interval post-DES implantation are independently correlated with ISNA, lipid ISNA, and calcified ISNA.

Objective To investigate the expression of miR-30a-5p and miR-129-5p in the serum of patients with non-small cell lung cancer after EGFR targeted therapy and their relationship with the therapeutic effect.Methods A total of 186 patients with non-small cell lung cancer who received EGFR targeted therapy in our hospital from January 2020 to June 2022 were regarded as research objects.According to the efficacy of patients,they were separated into effective group(n=141)and ineffective group(n=45).The serum levels of miR-30a-5p and miR-129-5p were compared between the two groups;multivariate logistic regression was applied to analyze the factors influencing the efficacy of non-small cell lung cancer;receiver operating characteristic was applied to analyze the predictive value of serum miR-30a-5p,miR-129-5p levels for efficacy of non-small cell lung cancer.Results There were obvious differences in smoking history and TNM stage between the ineffective group and the effective group(P＜0.05).The expression levels of miR-30a-5p and miR-129-5p in the ineffective group were obviously lower than those in the effective group(P＜0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that serum miR-30a-5p,miR-129-5p,smoking history,and TNM stage were all factors influencing the efficacy of non-small cell lung cancer(P＜0.05).Receiver operating characteristic showed that the AUC of the combination of serum miR-30a-5p and miR-129-5p to predict the efficacy of non-small cell lung cancer was 0.926,the sensitivity was 91.11％,and the specificity was 83.69％,which was better than their respective predictions(Z combination-miR-30a-5P=3.260,Zcombination-miR-129-5p=3.726,P=0.001,0.000).Conclusion The serum levels of miR-30a-5p and miR-129-5p in patients with non-small cell lung cancer who failed to respond to EGFR targeted therapy are obviously lower than those in the effective group;The combination of the two has a good predictive value for the efficacy of non-small cell lung cancer after EGFR targeted therapy.

Objective To investigate the effect of palmitoleic acid(POA)on pyroptosis of cardiomyocytes after hy-poxia/reoxygenation-induced injury in the human myocardium.Methods The experiment comprised a control group(Control,normal culture),a hypoxia/reoxygenation group(HR),a palmitoleic acid-treated group(HR+POA),and an anhydrous ethanol control group(HR+ET).Cardiomyocytes viability was assessed using CCK-8 assay,and the level of pyroptosis of cardiomyocytes was measured through the double staining with Hoechst33342/PI and LDH assay.ELISA was employed to detect the release of inflammatory factors IL-1 β and IL-18 in the cell culture supernatant.qRT-PCR and Western blot were utilized to determine the relative expression levels of mRNA and protein of pyroptosis-related genes,namely NLRP3,ASC,Caspase-1,GSDMD,IL-1 β and IL-18,respective-ly.Results CCK-8 assay showed that the survival of hypoxic/reoxygenated cardiomyocytes increased with the ad-dition of POA at concentrations ranging from 25 to 100 μmol/L,as compared to the HR group;a hypoxia/reoxy-genation model of cardiomyocyte was established.The expression of protein and mRNA increased in NLRP3,ASC,Cleaved caspase-1,GSDMD-N,IL-Iβ and IL-18 vs the control group(P＜0.05),the positive percentage of Ho-echst33342/PI staining in cardiomyocytes increased significantly(P＜0.05),the release of LDH,IL-Iβ,and IL-18 increased(P＜0.05).After intervention with 100 μmol/L POA,the protein and mRNA expression levels of NLRP3,ASC,Cleaved caspase-1,GSDMD-N,IL-Iβ,and IL-18 were significantly reduced in the HR+POA group vs HR+ET group(P＜0.05).The positive percentage of Hoechst33342/PI staining in cardiomyocytes de-creased significantly,and the levels of LDH,IL-Iβ and IL-18 significantly decreased(P＜0.05).Conclusion Palmitoleic acid may alleviate hypoxia/reoxygenation-induced injury of cardiomyocytes by inhibiting pyroptosis and inflammatory response after hypoxia/reoxygenation in human myocardium.
