Objective To investigate the diagnosis, management, pregnancy outcome and prognosis of bieytopenia or pancytopenia during pregnancy. Methods Retrospective chart review was conducted on 24 pregnancies who were found bicytopenia or pancytopenia during pregnancy for the first time. The diagnoses were reconfirmed. The management and pregnancy outcome were collected. And the prognoses were followed. Results According to the clinical data and laboratory findings, the latter including complete blood cell count, reticulocyte count, peripheral smear, serum folate and vitamin B12 level, autoimmune antibody screening, bone marrow smear and biopsy, thirteen patients were diagnosed as having chronic aplastic anemia (CAA), six as having myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), two as having megaloblastic anemia(MA), one as having paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria(PNH), one as having Evan's syndrome and one as having acute leukemia. The management basically consisted of supportive transfusions. Six patients suffered pregnancy complications including four with severe preeclampsia (one with intraeranial hemorrhage and one with intrauterine death concomitantly) and two with gestational diabetes. The delivery ages of the 21 patients were term or nearly term with all good neonatal outcomes. Postpartum follow-up showed the two patients with MA achieved complete remission, the one with PNH had mild anemia and that with Evan's syndrome had mild thrombocytopenia. The patient with acute leukemia died of recurrence six months postpartum. Of the thirteen patients with CAA, two achieved complete remission, six partial remission, four no remission and one was lost follow-up. Of the 6 patients with MDS, one achieved partial remission, four no remission, and one transformed into acute monocytic leukemia, then refused chemotherapy and was lost follow-up. Conclusions CAA may be one of the most common causes of bicytopenia or pancytopenia during pregnancy, MDS may be the second. Diagnosis should be made as soon as possible through appropriate and reasonable laboratory examinations. Most patients could achieve good pregnancy outcomes through supportive management. The maternal prognosis may vary widely depending on the causes.

Chinese Journal of Cancer Biotherapy 1995;0(02):-
A monoclonal antibody (McAb) 3H11 against gastric cancer with high positive rate, high selectivity and high affinity was obtained. 131 I Labeled McAb 3H11 was injected into gastric cancer-bearing nude mice, and the tumor/liver ratio, localization index, ID%/g could reach 8.26?1.26, 6.08 + 1.51, 11.00?2.62, respectively. Moreover, McAb 3H11 conjugated with 131 I could increase the cytotoxicity to tumor xenografts and decrease the side effects. The radioimmunoimage was carried out in 19 cases with gastric cancer, and positive image was obtained in 16 cases (84.2%). The radioimmunoguided surgery of gastric cancer was successfully done by submucous injection of labeled McAb 3H11 through endoscope. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy for evaluation of tumor infiltrated gastric walls were 94.6%, 96.7% and 95.9%, respectively. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy for identification of metastatic lymph nodes were 99.2% ,97.7% and 98.8%, respectively.

Objective To evaluate the effect of 6% hydroxyethyl starch (HES) 200/0.5 on the pulmonary capillary permeability in oleic acid induced acute lung injury (ALI) and investigate the possible mechanism of the therapeutic effect of HES. Methods Forty male SD rats weighing 280-370 g were randomly divided into four groups: group I balanced solution (control); group II 6% HES 200/0.5; group III gelatin and group IV dextran 40. The animals were anesthetized with intraperitoneal 3% pentobarbital 30-40 mg?kg-1 . Right external jugular vein was cannulated. Oleic acid 0.06 ml?kg-1 was given iv.10 ml?kg-1 of the above-mentioned different solutions was infused over 1.5 h in the four groups. Then 0.5% Evan's blue 1ml was injected iv. Four hours later the animals were sacrificed and lungs removed for pathologic examination under microscope, and determination of lung water content [ (wet weight -dry weight)/wet weight ? 100% ] . Lung Evan's blue content was determined by formamide extracting method. Lung MDA content and MPO activity were also determined. Results Lung water and Evan's blue contents were significantly lower in group II than those in any other groups. MPO activity and MDA level in group II were lowest among the four groups. Conclusions HES can decrease pulmonary capillary permeability, attentuate pulmonary edema and lung injury, and depress MPO activity and MDA level. The underlying mechanism may be due to its depressant effect on PMN aggregation and lipid peroxidation.
