ObjectiveTo investigate the changes of the serum level of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and lipid as well as their correlation in aged patients with ischemic cerebrovascular diseases(ICVD).MethodsSerum level of IGF-1, Lipoprotein(a) [LP(a)], total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) were detected in 130 cases of aged ICVD, as well as in 43 cases of healthy aged control.ResultsIGF-1 level in aged ICVD group was remarkably lower than that in control(P<0.05), and the levels of LP(a),TC, TG and LDL-C in aged ICVD group were significantly higher than that in control (P<0.05). The serum IGF-1 level in TIA patients with infarction was mower than those without infarction (P<0.05). In aged ICVD group, the serum IGF-1 level was negatively correlated with LP(a),TC, TG and LDL-C level (P<0.01). ConclusionIGF-1 decreased in the patients of aged ICVD, which shows a close relationship about the disorder of lipid metabolism, and may play a certain role in the course of occurrence and development of aged ICVD.

Objective To analyse imaging features of atypical meningioma.Methods There were 17 cases with atypical meningiomas proved by pathology,7 cases were male,10 cases were female,ranged in age from 34～69 years.17 cases all examined with CT,and 10 cases with CT enhanced scanning;12 cases examined with MRI and 8 cases with MR enhanced scanning,5 cases examined with DSA.Results The major imaging features of atypical meningioma included:the borders of tumors were mostly irregular,nonhomogeneous density or signal on plain CT and MRI,nonhomogeneous enhancement on enhanced CT and MRI.Cystic and necrotic changing and the invasion of cranial bone and adjacent structure could be seen.5 cases with dural tail sign on MRI,3 of them,this sign was short,thick and irregular.Heavy staining was showed on DSA.Conclusion Atypical meningiomas are of some clinical and imaging features.

Objective To investigate effect of carnosine on oxygen glucose deprivation/reperfusion ( OGD/RP) induced injury in rat brain slices. Methods Injury of brain slices was determined by TTC methods.The contents of ATP, ADP and AMP were determined by high performance liquid chromatography.Reactive Oxygen species ( ROS) were determined by fluorescence methods.Results Compared with control group, rat hippocampal slices were significantly damaged by OGD/RP, indicated by light color and decreased A490 nm value of TTC staining.Meanwhile the contents of ATP and ADP were significantly decreased, and the content of AMP and ROS were significantly increased, the difference between two group was significant ( P<0.01).Pre-incubation with Carnosine (1000, 200, 40 μg/mL) significantly inhibited the light color and decreased A490 nm value of TTC staining, increased the contents of ATP, ADP and AMP, and decreased the content of ROS, the difference between two group was significant ( P <0.01 ) . Conclusion Carnosine can protect rat hippocampal slices against injury induced by OGD/RP, which may relate to improve the energy metabolism and strengthen the ability of anti-oxidative stress.

Objective To explore the health guidance role on treating uterine fibroids in high intensity fo-cused ultrasound thermal ablation(HIFU).Methods High intensity focused ultrasound ablation treatment was used in 74 cases of uterine fibroids patients before and after treatment to enable patients to better health guidance with treatment.Results After treatment,symptoms of patients with the clinical manifestation including menstrual too much,dysmenorrhea,frequent urination,constipation and anemia,were significantly improved.The volume of myoma of uterus before treatment and after treatment for 3 months,6 months and 1 year were (100.780 ±104.243 )cm3 , (53.446 ±49.546)cm3,(32.704 ±32.246)cm3 and (21.991 ±16.301)cm3,respectively.The volume of myoma of uterus gradually reduced after treatment as compared with that before treatment,the difference had statistical signifi-cance(t=6.758,186,7.567,all P<0.01).Conclusion Effective health guidance is beneficial to HIFU treatment for patient.

BACKGROUND:To design and fabricate a novel three-dimensional thermoresponsive polymer cel scaffold is one of the hot topics in the research of polymer science. OBJECTIVE: To prepare three different kinds of thermoresponsive acelular carriers and to evaluate their performance. METHODS:The copolymer N-isopropylacrylamide temperature acelular scaffold, macroporous copolymer N-isopropylacrylamide temperature acelular scaffold and macroporous copolymer N-isopropylacrylamide crosslinking aldehyde sodium alginate thermoresponsive acelular scaffold were prepared. The specific surface area, thermoresponsive performance, porosity, pore size and biocompatibility of these three groups of scaffolds were determined. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The specific surface area of copolymer N-isopropylacrylamide thermoresponsive acelular scaffold, macroporous copolymer N-isopropylacrylamide thermoresponsive acelular scaffold and macroporous copolymer N-isopropylacrylamide crosslinking aldehyde sodium alginate thermoresponsive celular scaffold was respectively 135, 386, 421 m2/g. The lower critical solution temperature was 30, 28.5, 29.5℃. The cel toxicity reaction was respectively grade 2, 2, 1. These indicators showed that the three kinds of scaffolds were provided with a temperature-sensitive characteristics and similar lower critical solution temperature. The biocompatibility of macroporous copolymer N-isopropylacrylamide crosslinking aldehyde sodium alginate thermoresponsive acelular scaffold was significantly better than the other two scaffolds. The porosity and pore size of macroporous copolymer N-isopropylacrylamide thermoresponsive acelular scaffold and macroporous copolymer N-isopropylacrylamide crosslinking aldehyde sodium alginate thermoresponsive acelular scaffold were greater than those of the copolymer N-isopropylacrylamide thermoresponsive acelular scaffold (P < 0.05). These results demonstrate that macroporous copolymer N-isopropylacrylamide thermoresponsive acelular scaffold and macroporous copolymer N-isopropylacrylamide crosslinking aldehyde sodium alginate thermoresponsive acelular scaffold have more obvious pore structure.

Objective To investigate the fall efficacy of elderly people in nursing homes and its influencing factors. Methods A total of 174 elderly people in 8 nursing homes in Fujian province were recruited by convenience sampling method. They were investigated with a self-designed questionnaire about the demographic data, the Modified Falls Efficacy Scale (MFES) and the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10). Results The mean score of fall efficacy was 7.81±1.15, which revealed a middle level. The score of get dressed and undressed scored 9.04 ±1.42, which was the highest, while the score of using public transport scored 5.80 ±3.21, which was the lowest. Multiple regression analysis showed that the mental health status, degree of self care, age were influencing factors of fall efficacy of elderly people. Conclusions The fall efficacy level of 174 elderly people is at medium level, which is different among fall efficacy with mental health status, degree of self care, age. Individualized interventions should be designed and provided for them.

Objective To investigate the perinatal outcome of fetus with increased nuchal translucency (NT) at first trimester.Methods The thickness of NT above 95th percentile of the fetuses with same crown-rump length (CRL) was set as the criteria of increased NT.The outcomes of fetuses with increased NT during early pregnancy from Jan.2008 to Dec.2009 in Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center were followed up.The information of ultrasound at second trimester,pregnant complications and delivery outcome were collected.All infants were followed up for 3 months after birth and were divided into four groups according to their different thickness of NT.The relationship between NT thickness and perinatal outcome were analyzed with single factor analysis of variance and multiple comparison method.Results Among the 178 cases we followed up,there were 2 spontaneous fetal losses and 19 terminations whose reasons were Down syndrome (n=6),severe a thalassemia (n =5),fetal malformations (n =7) and social factor (n =1).Among the 157newborns delivered,one was found with congenital heart disease.The rate of abnormal infants was 11.8％ (21/178) and the detection rate of abnormal infants was 9 5.2％ (20/21).Healthy living rate of fetus with NT thickness between 95th percentile and 2.9 mm was 96.1％ (122/127); 82.4％ (28/34) for those with NT thickness between 3.0 mm and 3.9 mm; and 35.3％ (6/17) when NT≥ 4.0 mm.Conclusions Increased NT might have close relationship with poor pregnant outcome.The thicker the NT,the lower the healthy living rate of the fetus.The pregnant outcome is very poor if NT≤4.0 mm.

OBJECTVE:To investigate the clinical effect and safety of pregabalin combined with gabapentin in the treatment of central pain after cerebral infarction.METHODS:One hundred and fifty patients with central pain after cerebral infarction in our hospital from Jan.2010 to Dec.2015 in our department were randomly divided into group A,B,C,with 50 cases in each group.Group A was given Pregabalin capsule 75 mg,bid combined with Gabapentin capsule 0.1 g,tid;group B was given Pregabalin capsule 75 mg,bid;group C was given Gabapentin capsule 0.1 g,tid;3 groups were treated for 4 weeks.VAS score,NRS score,PSQI and SF-36 score were observed among 3 groups before and after treatment to evaluate clinical efficacies of 3 groups;the occurrence of ADR were recorded in 3 groups.RESULTS:The clinical total response rate of group A,B,C were separately 94.00％,74.00％,70.00％.The clinical total response rate of group A was significantly better than that of group B and C,with statistical significance (P＜0.05).After treatment,VAS score of group A,B,C were separately(3.87 ± 0.74),(5.10 ± 1.26),(5.03 ± 1.23);NRS score were separately (3.91 ± 0.88),(5.29 ± 1.25),(5.37 ± 1.30);VAS score and NRS score of group A were signifi cantly lower than group B,C and before treatment,with statistical significance (P＜0.05);PSQI score of group A,B,C were separately(4.03 ± 0.85),(5.92 ± 1.16),(5.83 ± 1.11);SF-36 score were separately (372.84 ± 73.25),(348.07 ± 60.54),(345.67 ± 59.72);PSQI score and SF-36 score of group A were significantly better than group B,C and before treatment,with statistical sig nificance (P＜0.05).There was no statistical significance in the incidence of ADR among 3 groups (P＞0.05).CONCLUSIONS:Compared with pregabalin and gabapentin alone,pregabalin combined with gabapentin in the treatment of central pain after cerebral infarction can efficiently relieve the perceived pain,improve sleep quality and daily life quality and not increase the risk of ADR;therefore,drug combination plan is recommended for patient with central pain after cerebral infarction,especially with poor effect of two single drug.

Aim To investigate the effect of astragalo-side IV ( ASIV) on myocardial energy metabolism and mitochondrial biosynthesis in myocardial cells of dia-betic rats induced by streptozotocin ( STZ ) . Methods
50 SD rats at 6 weeks of age were assigned to 5 groups,10 for each group:control group, model group, ASIV 10 mg·kg-1 ·d-1 group, ASIV 20 mg·kg-1 ·d-1 group, ASIV 40 mg·kg-1 ·d-1 group. Except the control group,the remaining 40 were used to estab-lish type 1 diabetes model by the tail vein injection of STZ (35 mg·kg-1 ) . At the end of 16 weeks of treat-ment, left ventricular systolic pressure ( LVSP ) , left ventricular diastolic final pressure ( LVEDP ) and left ventricular maximum rising/falling rate ( ± dp/dtmax ) were tested. Pathological section was observed by HE staining. ATP, ADP, AMP levels were detected by ELISA. The expressions of PGC-1α and NRF-1 protein were assessed by Western blot. The expressions of PGC-1α and NRF-1 mRNA were determined by RT-PCR. Results Compared with control group, model group markedly elevated LVEDP and decreased LVSP, ± dp/dtmax , ATP/AMP and ATP/ADP ratio. Com-pared with model group, low-dose ASIV group did not change significantly,middle-dose ASIV group and high-dose ASIV group obviously decreased LVEDP, and im-proved LVSP, ± dp/dtmax , ATP/ADP and ATP/AMP ratio. Meanwhile, the expressions of PGC-1α and NRF-1 protein and mRNA were increased in a dose-de-pendent manner. Conclusion ASIV could promote mitochondrial biosynthesis, improve energy metabolism in myocardial cells of type 1 diabetic rats by PGC-1αand NRF-1 .

Objective To analyze the characteristics of change in plasma cholesterol level in patients with sepsis, and to explore its relationship with prognosis and its clinical significance. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted. 568 patients with sepsis admitted to Department of Critical Care Medicine of Beijing Friendship Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University from August 2013 to August 2015 were enrolled, and 475 patients without sepsis hospitalized in the same period served as the control. The basic clinical data of the two groups were collected, and the results of blood fat and biochemical parameters were compared. The patients with sepsis were divided into death group and survival group, and risk factors influencing the prognosis of patients with sepsis were analyzed with multivariate logistic model regression analysis. Results Compared with non-sepsis patients, the levels of plasma total cholesterol (TC) and high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) in the patients with sepsis were significantly lower [TC (mmol/L): 2.5±1.2 vs. 3.4±1.4, t = 4.274, P = 0.021; HDL-C (mmol/L): 1.6±0.9 vs. 2.5±0.8, t = 3.413, P = 0.018], and that of low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) showed no statistically significant difference (mmol/L: 1.9±0.9 vs. 2.1±0.9, t = 0.749, P = 0.614). In the patients with sepsis, the patients in death group (n = 227) were older than those of the survival group (n = 341, years: 74.3±15.5 vs. 65.5±17.5, t = 4.037, P = 0.012), serum creatinine (SCr) was higher than that of survival group (μmol/L: 251.0±115.6 vs. 167.4±108.7, t = 3.254, P = 0.023), the levels of plasma TC, HDL-C and LDL-C were significantly lower than those of survival group [TC (mmol/L): 2.2±1.6 vs. 2.9±1.1, t = 3.057, P = 0.023; HDL-C (mmol/L): 1.4±0.8 vs. 1.9±0.8, t = 4.692, P = 0.016; LDL-C (mmol/L): 1.7±0.7 vs. 2.0±0.8, t = 2.541, P = 0.038]; there was no significant difference in the proportion of male, body mass index (BMI), based disease, intensive care unit (ICU) hospitalization time, the severity of the disease and other biochemical indexes between two groups. With single factor analysis with indicators of statistical significance as a covariate into binary logistic regression equation, the results show that age was the risk factor of death in patients with sepsis [odds ratio (OR) = 1.024, 95% confidence interval (95%CI) = 1.010-1.048, P = 0.009], and TC was the protective factor on the prognosis of patients with sepsis (OR = 0.747, 95%CI = 0.682-0.811, P = 0.013). Conclusions Plasma cholesterol levels in patients with sepsis were significantly lowered, and the levels in death group was significantly lower than that in the survival group. TC may be used as a clinical indicator to assess the outcome of patients with sepsis.
