Objective The contents of 11 nucleosides and base components in 10 batches of samples from 5 provinces(cities)including Chongqing,Yunnan and Shaanxi were determined, and the differences in nucleosides and base components in Fritillaria taipaiensis were compared by chemometric analysis, and the quality was comprehensively evaluated,so as to provide a reference for the cultivation of excellent varieties and the selection of medicinal materials. Methods Nucleoside and base components were extracted from Fritillaria taipaiensis by ultrasonication in aqueous solutions, and the content of each component was determined by HPLC-DAD method. The origin was classified by principal component analysis(PCA)and hierarchical cluster analysis(HCA).Partial least squares discriminant analysis(PLS-DA)was used to determine the differentiated index components in Fritillaria taipaiensis. Then the differences in the contents of the index components among samples from different origins were compared. Results It was found that 11 nucleoside and base components differed significantly among different origins of Fritillaria taipaiensis.Principal component analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis indicated that all samples could be clustered into 4 categories.Five characteristic components, including uracil, cytosine, uridine, inosine, and adenosine, were identified by PLS-DA.The nucleosides and bases in samples from Chongqing and Hubei were relatively high, and the quality of the samples was comparatively superior. Conclusion This method is simple, reproducible, accurate and reliable. It has screened out the index nucleoside and base components in the identification of Fritillaria taipaiensis of different origins, which can be used to initially elucidate the differences of samples between different origins.Additionally,it can better reflect the quality of Fritillaria taipaiensis, and can provide reference for the selection of procurement origin and the quality control for Fritillaria taipaiensis.

【Objective】To observe the levels of CD11b expressions in the surface of neutrophils in serum, and its correlation with left atrial diameter ,and to study the inflammatory mechanisms in atrial fibrillation(AF) patients. 【Methods】Clinical characteristics and blood samples of AF group and sinal rhythm group were collected. CD11b levels in the surface of neutrophils were examined by flow cytometry. Left atrial diameter was examined by echocardiography. 【Results】The AF group included 85 patients :36 with paroxysmal AF;26 with persistent AF;23 with permanent AF. The sinal rhythm group includes 57 patients. PMN- CD11b levels were significantly higher in Af group than in sinal rhythm group(P<0.01). The left atrial diameter was larger in AF group than in sinal rhythm group(P<0.01). Multivariate analysis revealed that PMN-CD11b,left atrial diameter and Valvular heart disease were independent predictors of atrial fibrillation.【Conclusions】PMN- CD11b levels were elevated in paroxysmal AF when AF was present and in persistent, permanent AF patients, implying atrial fibrillation was closely related to inflammation;PMN-CD11b were correlated with left atrial diameter, inflammation might participate in the atrial structural remodeling in AF patients ;PMN-CD11b levels were elevated in AF patients with high risk thrombosis, inflammation might have some value to embolic risk stratification according to CHA2DS2-VASc score.

OBJECTIVE:
This study investigated complementary feeding practices among four ethnic groups (Han, Uygur, Tibetan, and Zhuang) based on a cross-sectional survey in rural western China.
METHODS:
In 2005, a stratified multistage cluster random sampling method was used to recruit 9712 children (7411 Han, 1032 Uygur, 678 Tibetan, and 591 Zhuang) between 6 and 35 months of age and their mothers from 45 counties in 10 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) in western China.
RESULTS:
The rates of early introduction (before 6 months) of complementary foods in four ethnic groups (Han, Uygur, Tibetan, and Zhuang) were 71.30%, 95.95%, 82.40%, and 72.30%, respectively. The Infant and Child Feeding Index (ICFI) for Uygur and Tibetan children was lower than that for Han children at all age groups. Uygur children were more likely to have unqualified ICFI compared with Han children in a multivariate logistic regression (odds ratio (OR)=5.138, 95% confidence interval (CI): 4.340-6.084). A higher level of maternal education, greater family wealth, and the availability of complementary feeding educational materials decreased the likelihood of an unqualified ICFI. The nutritional status of children (Han, Tibetan, and Zhuang) with qualified ICFI was better than that for children with unqualified ICFI.
CONCLUSIONS
Appropriate interventions are required to improve complementary feeding practices in rural western China.
