4.Effective radiation dose in cardiac interventional procedures: the difference between ICRP publication 60 and publication 103
Journal of Interventional Radiology 2009;18(12):923-926
Objective to compare the calculated effective radiation dose variations in cardiac interventional procedures of coronary angiography (CAG) and percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PCI) by using the different tissue weighting factors recommended by ICRP Publication 60 with that recommended by ICRP Publication 103. Methods Measurements of organ doses were carried out with an anthropomorphic phantom equipped with thermoluminecent dosimetry. The effective radiation doses were separately calculated using the tissue weighting factors provided by ICRP 60 and provided by ICRP 103, and the results obtained from ICRP 60 were compared with that obtained from ICRP 103. Conversion factors of effective, radiation dose to dose area product (DAP) were also calculated according to different publication.Results The variations in the effective dose were 6.88% for CAG and 8.46% for PCI. The effective dose variations in CAG and PCI were. 7.25% and 8.76% for female and were 6.51% and 8.17% for male,respectively. The effective conversion factors of DAP were. 0.10 ~ 0.11 and 0.13 ~ 0.14 for CAG and PCI,respectively, according to ICRP 60 and 103. Conclusion The variation of conversion factors of effective dose indicates that in making estimation of effective radiation dose. by using the widely accepted conversion factors, the adjustment of organ weighting factors recommended by ICRP 103 should be considered.
5.Application of proteomics in the studies of cerebral ischemic preconditioning
International Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2009;17(1):63-66
Proteome is defined as all proteins expressed in a cell, a tissue or an organism. Proteomics, a science of understanding the life activity law at the whole protein level, takes proteome as a research object; it is also a scientific method for quantitative detection of one or more protein populations or proteomes in a cell or tissue. Cerebral ischemic preconditioning has been one of the research hotspots in the field of neuroscience for decades. Its neuroprotec-five mechanism is associated with the changes of protein expression levels after cerebral ischemia, Therefore, proteomics has become more and more important in its mechanism study. This article mainly presents the major techniques of proteomics and their application in the studies of cerebral ischemic preconditioning.
6.Evaluation of radiation dose in 64-slice spiral CT
Chinese Journal of Radiology 2008;42(10):1050-1052
Objective To estimate the effective dose during 64-slice CT examination on head,chest and abdomen and determine the conversion coefficient of effective dose and dose length product(DLP).Methods The plain CT scan wag performed in 48 cases on head,50 cases on chest and 45 cages on abdomen using GE Lightspeed 64-slice spiral CT.1The Kv,Ma,scan time,CTDIvol,and DLP were recorded in each examination.Effective dose on patients Was estimated using the SR 250 software.Results The effective dose on head,chest and abdomen was(3.1±0.1),(6.9±0.1)and(8.0±0.1)mSv,and the conversion Coeffieient was 0.0025,0.0191 and 0.0166 mSv·mGy-1·cm-1 respectively.Conclusion CTDIvol、DLP and effective dose were recommended for patient dose control during CT examination.The conversion factor of effective dose and DLP were recommended for radiation risk evaluation during different X-ray examinations.
7.Analysis of relationship between 1633C/T polymorphism of IL-8 gene and late-onset Alzheimer's disease
Journal of Chinese Physician 2012;(10):1319-1322
Objective To explore the relationship between interleukin-8 (IL-8) gene 1633C/T polymorphism and late-onset Alzheimer's disease in order to provide genetic reference data for late-onset Alzheimer's disease.Methods Polymorphism distribution of IL-8 gene 1633C/T in 80 LOAD and 80 normal controls were detected by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCRRFLP) analysis.The alleles and gene frequencies type were calculated by the direct counting.Type of gene was proceeded with the Hardy-Weinberg balance estimate.The other statistical analyses were carried out with SPSS13.0 software.The genotype frequencies and allele frequencies were compared with the Chisquare test (x2 test).Results For IL-8 gene1633 C/T,the genotype frequencies (CC,20.0% ; CT,41.2% ; TT,38.8%) in the LOAD group were not significantly different from those (CC,11.3% ; CT,40.0% ; TT,48.7%) in the control group (P > 0.05).Conclusions IL-8 gene 1633 C/T polymorphism is probably not related to the genetic susceptibility of late-onset Alzheimer's disease.

9.Antibacterial Activity and Antibacterial Action Sites of Bovine Lactoferricin
Mei-Chen AN ; Ning LIU ;
Microbiology 2008;0(10):-
Bovine Lactoferricin is a fragment of polypeptide which derives from N-terminal of bovine lactoferrin when it is digested by pepsin in acid condition. It has many biological functions. This study was designed to research the antibiosis spectrum of LfcinB and the key functional active site of the LfcinB by amino acid substitution and peptide sequence modification. Antimicrobial spectrum of the artificial synthesized LfcinB was determined by agar-well diffusion method. The antibacterial active sites were confirmed by minimal inhibitory concentration assays. After the Cysteine at the third site and the tryptophan at the eighth site of LfcinB were substituted by alanine, or two cysteine of LfcinB were respectively, the minimal inhibitory concentration of the three artificially modified LfcinBs was assayed. Results showed that LfcinB had a broad-spectrum of antibiosis, it could restrain various bacterials, such as Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, fungus and mycetes. LfcinB was stable to heat and pH, it could not be inactivated by many protease. The tryptophan at the eighth site and the intramolecular disulfide bond formed between two cysteins played a key role for antibiosis, as the functional active sites of LfcinB.
