To evaluate the effects of acupuncture on the immune system, the leukocyte, monocytes, lymphocyte and lymphocyte surface markers, CD2, CD4, CD8, CD11b, CD16, CD19 and CD56 in the peripheral blood of seventeen healthy volunteers were counted. The leukocyte above CD+ cell counts significantly increased after acupuncture. The results indicate that acupuncture may regulate the immune system and can increase the activity of cellular and humoral immunity and NK cell.
According to the percentage of lymphocytes or granulocytes, volunteers were divided into two types, those with more than 70% of granulocyte were recognized as G type and those with more than 40% of lymphocyte were divided into L type. Interestingly, before and after the treatment of acupuncture, the number of granulocytes and lymphocytes had a negative relationships. Namely we found an increase in the lymphocytes as well as a decrease in the granulocytes in the G type. On the other hand in the L type, we found an increase in the granulocytes and a decrease in the lymphocytes. Therefore we suggest that acupuncture can enhance the activity that maintains the balance of the immune function.

A 34-year-old woman was admitted with a history of syncope and a mass was detected in the right atrium (RA) by transthoracic echocardiography (TTE). Preoperative chest computed tomography (CT) also demonstrated an RA tumor measuring 4×3 cm. We performed resection of the RA tumor under cardiopulmonary bypass. Histopathological findings showed that the tumor was an angiomyolipoma. It is well known that angiomyolipomas are most frequently found in the kidney and are associated with tuberous scleroses. There was no evidence of tuberous sclerosis in this case. Primary tumors of the heart are rare. However, there have been a few intracardiac angiomyolipomas reported previously.

We have simultaneously proved that cell populations taking charge of immunity in human peripheral blood can be regulated quantitatively by acupuncture. Now we investigated the effect of acupuncture qualitatively on cytokine production by lymphocyte cells in human peripheral blood.
The number of IL-1β, IL-4 and IFN-γ containing cells, which are closely associated with macrophage, humoral immunity and cellular immunity respectively, were measured by FACScan. We found a significant increase in IFN-γ containing cells after acupuncture. According to this result together with previous results, the enhancement of CD4+ and CD56+ cell counts, the treatment of acupuncture can promote the activity of cellular immunity as well as NK cell.

Purpose:
The anatomical distribution of perianal warts is associated with patient characteristics such as sexual orientation. The purpose of this study is to confirm this experiential knowledge using a quantitative classification system and analysis and to obtain findings useful for future treatment.
Methods:
From January 2014 to December 2020, 93 patients with perianal warts presented to our hospital. Patients were analyzed for age, sex, lesion site, and recurrence type, among other factors. The lesion site was divided into skin (S) and anal epithelium (anoderm, A), and the number and degree of each were classified into grades 0 to 3. The higher grade between S and A determines its dominant type, such as type S (e.g., S3A1) and type A (e.g., S0A2).
Results:
The average age of the patients was 39.6 years, and the percentage of patients who were not married was 54.8%. In all, 95.8% of patients were positive for low-risk human papillomavirus (HPV). Type S accounted for 80.6%, whereas type A accounted for 9.7%. Type A cases were all male and were all presumed to be men who have sex with men (MSM). This indicates that the determination of type A may be highly specific for MSM. The type at the time of recurrence was the same type at the time of the first surgery in almost all cases.
Conclusion
In cases of perianal warts, it is useful to analyze the lesion by considering the range and grade separately for daily clinical practice on proctologist.

Since the discovery of the first strain in 1961 in England, MRSA, the most notorious multidrug-resistant hospital pathogen, has spread all over the world. MRSA repeatedly turned down the challenges by number of chemotherapeutics, the fruits of modern organic chemistry. Now, we are in short of effective therapeutic agents against MRSA prevailing among immuno-compromised patients in the hospital. On top of this, we recently became aware of the rise of diverse clones of MRSA, some of which have increased pathogenic potential compared to the classical hospital-associated MRSA, and the others from veterinary sources. They increased rapidly in the community, and started menacing otherwise healthy individuals by causing unexpected acute infection. This review is intended to provide a whole picture of MRSA based on its genetic makeup as a versatile pathogen and our tenacious colonizer.
