Recent studies suggest that glial cells play an impor-tant role in nervous system. Like astrocytes in the central nervous system, satellite glial cells( SGCs) also participate in the physio-logical and pathological processes of the peripheral nervous sys-tem. SGCs affect neuronal functions through neuro-glial interac-tions. In this review,we summarize the current understanding of how SGCs affect the function of neurons.

Since Thomas et al reported the first instance of successful removal of a broken intravascular guidewire without surgical intervention by using a bronchoscopic forceps in 1964, there have been a number of nonsurgical removal of intravascular or intracardiac foreign bodies using the bronchoscopic forceps, loop snare or basket stone catchers. We experienced a successful retrieval of accidentally broken subclavian puncture catheter from right atrium in 76 year old male patient with cerebral infarction admitted to this hospital on May, 1989. By percutaneous catheterization via right basilic vein, using a loop snare which is modified manually by guidewire for PTCA(USIC(R) Teflon coated PTCA Guide wire : ".014"), we removed successfully foreign body from right atrium. Therefore, we report a case of nonsurgical retrieval of foreign body from right atrium with the review of the literature.

5.Clinical Study of Neonatal Gastric Perforation.
Journal of the Korean Association of Pediatric Surgeons 2005;11(2):123-130
Gastric perforation of newborn is a rare, serious, and life threatening problem. The pathogenesis of gastric perforation is less well understood, and ranges widely. That ischemia is responsible for intestinal perforation enhances the likelihood that a similar mechanism exists for gastric perforation. Twelve patients with neonatal gastric perforation who were treated upon at the Department of Pediatric Surgery, Hanyang University Hospital from 1987 to 2002 were reviewed. Eight patients were male and four female. The age of perforation was 1 day to 8 days of life. Ten patients undertook operation and 2 patients were treated conservatively. The perforation site was located at the anterior wall along the greater curvature of the stomach in 8 patients and along the lessor curvature of the stomach in 2. The precipitating factors were gastroschisis, premature baby on ventilator and mechanical intestinal obstruction each 2 cases, and cyanotic heart disease and indomethacine medication each one case. In 5 cases the cause of perforation was not identified. The mortality rate was 25%(3 of 12). Earlier recognition and treatment were throught to be crucial prognostic factors.

6.Clinical Study of Choledochal Cyst.
Journal of the Korean Association of Pediatric Surgeons 2003;9(2):81-88
Congenital dilatation of the common bile duct (choledochal cyst) is an uncommon disease. Although the etiology is unknown yet, various theories such as distal obstruction of the common bile duct, congenital weakness of the duct and anomalous union of the pancreaticobiliary duct have been offered to explain the occurrence of choledochal cyst. Thirty - six cases of choledochal cyst over 22 years were analyzed clinically and classified according to Todani`s classification and Kimura's anomalous union of pancreaticobiliary duct type. Todani type I consisted with 22 cases which were subdivided into 19 cases of type Ia, 1 case of type Ib and 2 of type Ic. Type IVa consisted with 14 cases including one case of Caroli's disease. There were 25 type BP cases and 10 type PB cases and 1 normal pancreatobiliary junction. Serum alkaline phosphatase was increased significantly in almost all cases. Seven patients (19.4%) had associated congenital anomalies such as double gallbladder, left - sided gallbladder, common bile duct web, biliary atresia, accessory hepatic duct, heterotopic pancreas, cleft lip and 2 cases of intestinal malrotation. All patients underwent cyst excision and Roux - en - Y hepaticojejunostomy and cholecystectomy. There was one death due to methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus sepsis.

Chinese Journal of Analytical Chemistry 2001;29(3):327-329
The methods of 1H Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and mass spectroscopy were used in detecting the metabolites of brodimoprim (BDP) in rat plasma. The endogenic compounds in the plasma were removed with solid phase extraction (SPE) column firstly, then the mixture of metabolites was identified with 1H NMR and mass spectroscopy (MS). Two metabolites of BDP in the plasma at 20h were detected, they were demethyl-brodimorpim glucuronide and brodimoprim sulfurate. The study proved that the method of SPE coupled with NMR and MS can be applied to the analysis of metbolites in plasma quickly and conveniently.

An on-line solid phase extraction-high performance liquid chromatography ( SPE-HPLC ) system was applied in the plasma pharmacokinetic study of highly active anti-cancer compound tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TEB-415) in mouse. The on-line SPE-HPLC method associated with Ultimate3000 system which was applied to the determination of the blood drug level of TEB-415 in mouse plasma. C18 column ( Venusil MP, 150 mm × 4. 6 mm, 5μm) was used as analytical column and the mobile phase consisted of acetonitrile-5 mmol/L monopotassium phosphate buffer ( pH 3 . 5 ) at a flow rate of 1 . 0 mL/min was used as the isocratic elution. An MF Ph-1 column (10 mm×4 mm, 5 μm) was used as on-line SPE column, and water and water-acetonitrile were used as the washing solvent and elution solvent respectively. The detection wavelength was set at 262 nm. The pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated by WinNonlin 5. 2 software. The linear range of the calibration curve was between 100 and 20000 μg/L, and the limit of qualification was 20 μg/L. The extraction recovery was between 90 . 5% and 94 . 6%. The RSD of intra-day and inter-day precision was less than 3. 5%. The accuracy of short-term stability, freeze-thaw stability and long-term stability were between 91. 49% and 101. 96%. After oral medication, the mean peak time (Tmax) of TEB-415 in mice was 5. 29 h, and the mean maximum concentration ( Cmax) was 3403μg/L. The area under the curve ( AUC) of TEB-415 was 24600 μg/L·h. This drug's mean half-life was 3. 84 h, and its mean retention time (MRT) was 6. 56 h. These parameters suggested that TEB-415 had appropriate rate of absorption and elimination with preferable bioavailability.

Microbiology 1992;0(04):-
A strain no.H5 isolated from Rhizophora stylosa Griff in Zhanjiang had a good antagonistic activity against Aspergillus niger, pathogen of Dracaena Sanderiana black-rot disease. It was identified as Bacillus licheniformis.Dual culture, mycelium growth rate and inhibitory zones were used to test the effect. Strong inhibition was shown against A.niger.Inhibitory ratios of H5 germ-free fermented filtrate on mycelium growth and conidial germination were 91.9%and 100%respectively.In addition, mycelia on the edge of antagonistic band became abnormal and over-branching.Meanwhile,a lot of vesicles appeared on the surface. When treated with heat, acid and alkali, the filtration of H5 was always with stable activity.Precipitate in 55%saturated ammonium sulfate dissolved in phosphate buffer solution maintained most of the activity after high pressure steam sterilization for 25 minutes. It was preliminarily considered as a kind of heat resistant protein.
