2. Health reconstruction after Wenchuan Earthquake
Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 2010;29(7):717-719
Health reconstruction is an important part of post-earthquake reconstruction task. To do a better job in health reconstruction after a disaster, we should, based on previous experience and the characteristics of different periods, properly utilize the health resources for the disaster relief and exercise long-term management. And in a long run, we should, taking into consideration of the future health demands, plan the health reconstruction in the disaster areas. Emphasis should be made on the personnel training for epidemic prevention. Efforts should be made to fully recover the health system in the disaster area and the recovered health system should be better than that before disaster.

Objective To investigate the changes in pharmacokinetics of propofol and propofol concentration in the brain induced by normovolemic hemodilution ( NHD) . Methods Thirteen healthy male mongrel dogs weighing 10-15 kg were randomly divided into 2 groups: control group ( n = 7) and NHD group ( n = 6). The animals were anesthetized with intravenous diazepam 0.5 mg?kg-1 and ketamine 5 mg?kg-1 . The femoral artery and vein were cannulated. Lactated Ringer's solution was infused at 5-7 ml ? kg-1 ? h-1 . 30 min after induction of anesthesia NHD was conducted by removing blood from femoral artery and replacing it with 6% hydroxyethyl starch (HES) until Hct was reduced to 25% . Propofol was then infused at 10 mg?kg-1 ?h-1 for 30 min after NHD. Arterial blood samples were taken immediately before and at 1, 2, 5 , 10, 15, 20, 30, 31, 32, 35, 40, 50, 70, 90, 120, 150, 180, 240 and 300 min after propofol infusion was started for determination of plasma propofol concentrations. One week later the same NHD was repeated. Propofol was administered by TCI via Graseby 3500 infusion pump incorporated with Stanpump TCI software. Target plasma propofol concentration was set at 5 ?g?ml-1 . Arterial blood and CSF samples were obtained at 5, 15, 30, 45 and 60 min after the start of propofol infusion for determination of plasma propofol concentration ( bound and free) , plasma free propofol concentration and CSF propofol concentration. At the end of 60 min, after the collection of blood and CSF samples, brain tissue was obtained from the cerebral cortex of right frontal lobe for determination of brain propofol content. ECG, BP, arterial blood gases and body temperature were monitored during experiment. Results The plasma propofol concentrations were significantly lower during and after propofol infusion at 10 mg? kg-1 ? h-1 in NHD group than in control group ( P

Objective Spontaneous pneumothorax occurred mainly because of bulla rupture and its formation process and pathogenesis were unknown, the study was to detect the express level of the cytokines KL-6,FGF-10 and MMP-9 in the spontaneous pneumothorax patients with bulla and researched its significance. Methods Selected 24 cases of bulla resection for spontaneous pneumothorax patients, the immunohistochemical staining techniques and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was taken to detect the expression level of KL-6,FGF-10 and MMP-9 of the bulla site and the bulla adjacent site. Results Immunohistochemical results showed that the staining intensity of the KL-6 and FGF-10 in groups of bulla site was higher than those in groups of bulla adjacent site while there was no significant difference of MMP-9 in the two groups.ELISA results showed that the expression levels of the KL-6 and FGF-10 in groups of bulla site are higher than those in groups of bulla adjacent site and the results had statistically significant (P < 0.05),while there was no statistically significant of MMP-9 in the two groups(P >0.05).Conclusion The expression of the KL-6 and FGF-10 in the bulla site in primary spontaneous pneumothorax patients was higher than that in the normal site ; the pulmonary fibrosis mediated by KL-6 and the lung-bronchial congenital abnormalities mediated by abnormal expression of FGF-10 might have correlation with bulla formation. There was no statistically significant of the MMP-9 expression between the two groups and the correlation between inflammation mediated by MMP-9 and bulla formation was not clear.
8.EFFECTS OF CYCLOOXYGENASE-2 ON ALCOHOL-INDUCED LIVER INJURY IN RATS
Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 1981;0(04):-
The effects of cyclooxygenase 2 (COX 2) on alcohol induced liver injury in rats were investigated. Rats were randomly divided into three groups: Control group was given with corn oil plus dextrose; Model group with corn oil plus ethanol; Treatment group with corn oil plus ethanol and a selective COX 2 inhibitor celecoxib. All materials were injected into stomach through intragastric tubes. Liver samples were analyzed with histopathology, fatty staining and immunohistochemistry. Glutathione s transferase (GST) activity of liver tissue and plasma were detected. Levels of aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) in serum were measured. Compared with the control group, positive fatty staining cells and expression of COX 2 in liver, level of ALT and AST in serum and activity of GST in plasma were all significantly increased in the model group, but the GST activity in liver was decreased. However, these changes were all reversed in the treatment group. The results show that the model of alcohol induced liver injury in rats has been set up successfully, the selective COX 2 inhibitor celecoxib can protect against alcohol induced liver injury in rats and COX 2 may play a role in alcohol induced liver injury

Chinese Journal of General Practitioners 2002;0(01):-
Objective To investigate correlation between serum level of uric acid (SUA) and carotid atherosclerosis in the elderly. Methods A group of 113 elder subjects were examined by high-frequency Doppler ultrasound to measure their intima-media thickness (IMT) of carotid artery and severity of atherosclerotic plaque formation. Blood levels of biochemical factors such as SUA, total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), fasting blood sugar (FBS), creatinine (Cr) were determined, as well as 24h urine level of albumin (UALB). Correlation between SUA, IMT and the plaque was analyzed. Results SUA in quartile positively correlated with increasing IMT and severity of plaque in the elderly. SUA correlated with IMT of carotid artery, independent from age, gender, TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C and Cr, and correlated with severity of plaque adjusted for age, gender, history of hypertension, TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C, Cr, FBS and logarithm of UALB.Conclusions Level of SUA positively correlated with IMT, and increased level of SUA was a risk factor for carotid plaque, independent from other cardiovascular risk factors and renal impairment indicators, such as age, gender, history of hypertension, blood lipid level, Cr, etc.

West China Journal of Stomatology 2009;27(3):268-275
OBJECTIVETo compare the effect of three kinds of extraction model on high angle bimaxillary protrusion patients.
METHODSA total of 30 patients with Class I malocclusion and bimaxillary protrusion, aged 14-25 years old, were selected and divided into three groups. Four first premolars were extracted in the first group. The two maxillary first premolars and two mandibular first molars were extracted in the second group. The two maxillary first premolars and two mandibular first molars were extracted in the third group, and two additional micro-implants used as orthodontic anchorage in maxilla. Three groups were all treated with MBT appliance. Cephalometric analysis were carried out before and after treatment, and the results were analyzed with statistics.
RESULTS1) About the hard tissues, compared with the first group, there were statistically significant differences of N-Me, SGo/NMe, ANS-Me, FH/MP, SN/MP, and ODI in the second and the third group after treatment (P<0.01). 2) About the soft tissues, the teeth and the alveolar bone, compared with the first group, there were statistically significant differences of Pg-Pos, Li-SnPos, Si-LiPos, LL-E, L1-NB, L1/NB, U1/L1, L7-MP in the second and the third group after treatment (P<0.01). 3) All patients received consummate orthodontic treatment and obtained fine occlusion. Facial profiles were improved significantly after orthodontic treatment.
CONCLUSION1) After orthodontic treatment with mandibular first molars extraction, FH/MP, SN/MP, N-Me, ANS-Me, L1-NB and L1/NB decreased respectively, and soft tissue profiles were improved significantly. 2) Additional micro-implant used as orthodontic anchorage in maxilla significantly contributed to the maxillary incisor retraction and subsequent soft tissue change. 3) The first molars extraction and additional micro-implant used as orthodontic anchorage are efficient in improving the facial profiles for high angle bimaxillary protrusion patients.
