Objective To introduce the method of reconstructing posterolateral complex injury of the knee with the autogenous middle 1/3 of biceps femoris tendon and gracilis and evaluate its short-term outcome. Methods There were 21 cases of posterolateral complex injury of the knee reconstructed with the middle 1/3 of biceps femoris tendon and gracilis from January 2003 to December 2006. There were 13males and 1 female at age range of 18-49 years ( mean 34.3 years). The reconstructed ligaments included popliteal tendon, lateral collateral ligament and poplitrofibular ligament. An autogenous folded gracilis tendon was extracted and placed through trastibial bony tunnel from anterolateral to the posterior condylar of the tibia to reconstruct the popliteal tendon. An autogenous folded middle 1/3 of biceps femoris tendon was fixed in the isometric bony tunnel of the femoral lateral condyle. The anterior half was used to reconstruct the lateral collateral ligament, and the posterior half to reconstruct the poplitrofibular ligament. The posterolateral stability of the knee was evaluated mainly through examination varus instability of knee and external rotation range of leg. Results All cases were followed up for average 26 months (6-24months). Lysholm score of the knee was (43 ± 2) points preoperatively and (90 ± 3 ) points half year after operation, with significant improvement. Conclusions PCL injury may result in functional deficiency of the injured extremity. While the autogenous middle 1/3 of biceps femoris tendon and gracilis can yield a stable knee with good function, mini-trauma and satisfactory clinical results in reconstructing the posterolateral complex of the knee joint.

Objective To observe the clinical effect ofJiedu-Huayu granule for the Dengue Fever (DF).Methods The patients with DF were randomly divided into the treatment group and control group. Both groups received the conventional treatment, and the treatment group addedJiedu-Huayu granule. The clinical effects were detected. Results At the baseline, the ALT and AST in the treatment were significantly higher than those in the control group (t=2.830,P=0.014;t=2.109,P=0.044). But after treatment, there was no difference between groups. The ALT in the treatment group showed a gradual change and AST recovery time showed short. Compared with control group, the concentration of sVCAM-1 in the treatment group was higher at baseline and the third day (t=2.780,P=0.018;t=2.130,P=0.460), but the concentration of MCP-1 desceased significantly on the 6th day (t=-2.164,P=0.042).Conclusions Compared with the western medicine, the treatment of western medicine andJiedu-Huayu granule could alleviate liver injure, shorten the recovery time, and reduce the concentration of sVCAM-1 and MCP-1.

ObjectiveTo study the relationship between representations of verbal sound and non-verbal sound in the brain. Methods39 patients with brain injury and 39 healthy volunteers were recruited in this study. They were tested with the sound-verification task (a non-verbal sound test) and the sound attribute judgment task (a verbal sound test). The software developed by Crawford and Garthwaite was used for data analysis. ResultsGroup analysis revealed a positive correlation between the verbal sound test and non-verbal sound test. As for case analysis, some patients were impaired in the comprehension of verbal sound test, but normal in the comprehension of non-verbal sound test. In contrast, some patients were impaired in the comprehension of non-verbal sound test, but normal in the comprehension of verbal sound test. ConclusionVerbal sound and non-verbal sound are represented independently in the brain. In the process of language rehabilitation of aphasia, attention should not only be paid to verbal sound training, but also to non-verbal sound training.
