Aim To observe the efficacies of Inhibace on BP and erection d isturbance in hypertension. Methods Seventy-seven essential hypertensiom patients accompany wi th organic erection disturbance were divided into 2 groups randomly:Inhibace group(n=39) recevied Inhibace 2.5 mg～5 mg qd for two weeks,another group received amlodipine 2.5 mg～5 mg qd as the control. Erectile functions were monitored by international erectile function index(IIEF -5) and the Doppler penis-humeral artery index(PBI). Results BP decreased after treatment in both two groups,but Inhibac e was superior in decreasing DBP than Norvasc. The indexes of IIEF-5 and PBI we re improved significantly in Inhibace group than Norvasc. Conclusion Inhibace not only decreased the hypertension,but also im proved the impotence symptoms in erectile dysfunction in EH.

Objective To observe the effect of CT-aided scalp surrounding needling on infraction dementia by retaining long time. Methods 53 infraction patients following dementia were randomly divided into treatment group (n=26) and control group (n=27). The control group was treated with CT-aided scalp surrounding needling for 30 minutes, while the treatment group was treated with CT-aided scalp surrounding needling for 3 hours. The course was 8 weeks. The therapeutic effect was assessed by Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE), Hasegawa Dementia Scale(HDS-R) and Activities of Daily Living (ADL). Results The scores of ADL, MMSE, and HDS-R improved obviously after treatment in two groups (P<0.05), and the treatment group was better than the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion CT-aided scalp surrounding needling by retaining long time may facilitate to enhance the clinical effect on infarction dementia.

ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of infusion of esmolol on expression of hypoxia inducible factor-1α following spinal ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) in rats.MethodsThirty-six healthy male Wistar rats weighing 300-350 g were randomly assigned into 3 groups (n =12 each):group Ⅰ sham operation (group S); group Ⅱ spinal I/R and group Ⅲ esmolol pretreatment (group E).Spinal ischemia was produced by cross-clamping of abdominal aorta distal to renal artery for 20 min in I/R and E groups,Infusion of esmolol 200 g· kg- 1 ·min- 1 was initated 30 min before spinal ischemia and continued for the subsequent 1 h reperfusion in group Ⅲ (E).In groups S and I/R the animals received equal volumes of NS instead of lidocaine.Neurological behavior was assessed according to Tarlov scoring system at 24 and 48 h of reperfusion.The lumbar segment ( L4、5 ) spinal cord was resected at 24 and 48 h ofreperfusion for microscopic examination.The expression of HIF-Ia in spinal cord was detected by immunohistochemistry analysis.ResultsCompared with group S,the expression of HIF-Iα in spinal cord was down-regulated,and Tarlov score was significantly decreased in groups S and l/R.The spinal cord injury was attenuated in group E compared with group I/R.CondusionEsmolol infusion can protect the spinal cord against I/R injury,and inhibition of the expression of HIF-1α is involved in the mechanism.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the dynamic features of angiogenesis in residual tumors after high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU),and to determine the temporal effect and mechanism of hypoxia inducible factor-2 alpha (HIF-2a) in the angiogenic process of residual tumors.

METHODSXenograft tumors of HepG2 cells were generated by subcutaneously inoculating athymic BALB/c nu/nu mice with the hepatoma cells.About 30 days after inoculation,all mice (except in the control group) were treated by HIFU and assigned randomly to the following 7 groups according to various time intervals post-treatment:1st,3rd,5th day and 1st,2nd,3rd,4th week when the residual tumor tissues were obtained from the experimental groups.Protein levels of HIF-2a and vascular growth factor A (VEGF-A) were quantified by immunohistochemistry and western blotting,and mRNA levels were measured by (real-time quantitative) qPCR. Microvascular density (MVD) was calculated by counting the CD31-positive vascular endothelial cells identified by means of an immunohistochemical staining method.

RESULTSCompared with results from the control group,the protein and mRNA levels of HIF-2a expression reached the highest level in the experimental mice at the 2nd week (P=0.000 and P < 0.01 respectively),and were decreased thereafter(3rd week and 4th week, P=0.000 and P < 0.05).VEGF-A expression in the residual tumor tissues group that received HIFU was significantly decreased,compared with the control group,at all time points uPto 1 week (all P=0.000 and P < 0.01),but the levels increased compared to controls in the 2nd through 4th week (all P=0.000, P < 0.05). Similar results were obtained for MVD.

CONCLUSIONHIFU treatment can inhibit angiogenesis in residual hepatoma tissues in the short-term (1 to 2 weeks post-treatment) in mice with hepatocellular carcinoma,but can promote angiogenesis overtime (2 to 4 weeks post-treatment); the angiogenic process may involve the HIF-2α/VEGFA pathway.

Objective To explore the effect of bundle hand hygiene intervention in controlling healthcare-associated infec-tion(HAI)in a primary comprehensive hospital,so as to improve hand hygiene compliance and correct rate,and reduce AHI rate. Methods In January-June 2014,bundle hand hygiene intervention among health care workers (HCWs)in a hospital was performed,hand hygiene knowledge awareness rate,hand hygiene compliance and correct rate,hand sanitizer usage and HAI rate before and after intervention were compared. Results After performing intervention for six months,the awareness rate of hand hygiene knowledge(concept,significance,indications,methods,sanitizer use)of HCWs improved com-pared with before intervention (P<0.05);hand hygiene compliance and correct rate were significantly higher than before inter-vention (77.92% vs 49.78% ;76.47% vs 37.72% )(P<0.05). Hand sanitizer usage increased from 2.14mL/bed-day to 4.63 mL/bed-day ,HAI rate decreased from 1.97% to 1.54% (P<0.05).Conclusion Bundle hand hygiene intervention can improve HCWs’knowledge awareness,compliance and execution rate of hand hygiene,and effectively reduce HAI rate.

Objective To examine ERP components related to different processings of emotional expression of fury, neutral and smile during face-map recognition. Method Twelve undergraduate students (7 male, 5 female), 19～24 years old, were served as subjects in the experiment. The visual stimuli consisted of six kinds of pictures: three kinds of facial pictures (neutral, smile, fury) and three kinds of non-facial ones. The subjects were asked to complete two tasks, i. e., face recognition (FR) and facial expression classification (FEC). During FR task, two runs of 210 stimuli (duration: 50 ms) with each (3 facial and 3 non-facial pictures) were randomly presented with equal probability (ISI: from 1 500 ms to 2 000 ms randomly), and subjects were asked to react to facial stimuli and non-facial stimuli by pressing the left button and right button respectively as quickly as possible. During FEC task, 210 stimuli (3 facial stimuli and 3 non-facial stimuli) were randomly presented with equal probability (duration: 50 ms, ISI: from 1 500 ms to 2 000 ms), and subjects were asked to react to different facial expressions by pressing 3 different buttons respectively as quickly as possible. Electroencephalogram (EEG) was recorded with NeuroScan-32 cap (10/20 system), in reference to bilateral mastoids. Result: 1) Compared with the ERP elicited by facial stimuli during FR task, the responses during FEC task evoked a P580 component clearly. 2) A positive-potential difference after 450 ms post-stimulation between ERP during FEC task and during FR task was observed, which was significant at central and parietal sites. According to the difference of task demand between two tasks, this wave was termed the expression processing positivity (EPP) to reflect the expression processing during face recognition. 3) The peak latency of furyEPP was the shortest and smile-EPP the longest. Conclusion The mode and site of the EPP are likeIv to represent brain function in late processinq of the expression.

Objective To explore the effects of passive smoking on vascular endothelial function in office women.Methods Totally,94 healthy office women volunteers from urban(36 women)and townships or towns(58 women)were divided into three groups based on the extent of their daily exposure to passive smoking,group A exposed to one to eight cigarettes,group B exposed to nine to 15 cigarettes,and group C exposed to more than 15 cigarettes,respectively,with 20 healthy young women without exposure to passive smoking as controls.Internal diameter of the brachial artery Was measured by color Doppler ultrasound scanning for each of the participants and its changes were observed before and after congestive reaction of the brachial artery test and nitroglycerin test.Results Thirteen of 36 office women from urban and 38 of 58 from townships or towns exposed to passive smoking of more than eight cigarettes daily,with chi-square of 7.74,P=0.0054.The brachial artery in groups A,B and C dilated less than that in the controls did.The brachial artery in group C dilated less than that in the groups A and B did.Conclusion Passive smoking could damage vascular endothelial dilatation function in office women.

Objective To investigate the molecular mechanism of vascular endothelial growth factor ( VEGF) expression in bronchial epithelial cells (Beas-2B)induced by particulate matter 2.5(PM2.5).Methods PM2.5 powder was dis-solved in DMEM medium and diluted into five concentrations , 0,12.5,25,50 and 100μg/ml, respectively.The double an-tibiotics ( streptomycin and penicillin ) and FBS were added into the solution to a 2% final concentration of serum system after being treated by ultrasound for 30 minutes.The cultured Beas-2B cells were then treated with different doses of PM2.5.Subsequently, nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB) transactivity and the transcriptional activation of vegf gene promot-er were tested by dual-luciferase reporter gene analysis system while phosphorylation of p 65 , expression levels of IκBαand VEGF were detected by Western blotting .Results PM2.5 induced up-regulation of VEGF expression in Beas-2B cells in a dose-dependent manner , accompanied by NF-κB transactivation at the highest level under 100 μg/ml of PM2.5 treatment. Moreover, PM2.5 induced degradation of the repressor protein IκBαand increase in the phosphorylation level of p 65 sub-unit in Beas-2B cells.Knockdown of NF-κB p65 expression significantly inhibited vegf gene promoter transcriptional activa-tion as well as VEGF protein expression in Beas-2B cells induced by PM2.5.Conclusion PM2.5 induces VEGF expres-sion via activation of NF-κB pathway in bronchial epithelial cells .

Objective To observe the effect of vein anastomosis by microvascular anastomotic device in head and neck reconstruction.Methods Sixteen cases needing free flaps were randomly selected in head and neck cancer patients with locally advanced lesion.Their veins were anastomosed by microvascular anastomotic device.Other 40 cases whose veins were anastomosed by manual anastomosis were selected as control during the same year.The statistical data of the time of veins anastomosis,thrombosis and the rate of flaps salvage were compared.Results The average time of venous anastomosis was 6.31 ± 0.87 minutes,which was lower than the manual anastomosis (19.20 ±4.62 minutes) significantly.There was no thrombosis,which was not significant different with the manual anastomosis.One case's venous blood flow was not smooth for the angled vein and the flap salvage operation was successful.Conclusion The time of venous anastomosis is shorten significantly by microvascular anastomotic device.The incidence of thrombosis is the same compared with venous anastomoses performed with sutures.The microvascular anastomotic device system allowed a time-efficient and safe venous anastomosis.

BACKGROUND: Posterior transarticular screw fixation (Magerl’s) is recommended for atlantoaxial instability. However,some patients do not suit for Magerl’s fixation. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical outcomes of atlantoaxial pedicle screw system in the treatment of atlantoaxial instability from odontoid fracture. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING: The retrospective case analysis was performed at the Department of Orthopedics,Sichuan People’s Hospital between July 2004 and June 2007. PARTICIPANTS: Twenty-one cases of atlantoaxial instability from odontoid fracture were selected. According to Anderson and D’Alonzo classification,9 of them belonged to type II odontoid fracture with atlantoaxial instability and 12 to type Ⅲ with severe atlantoaxial dislocation. All cases suffered pain at occipitocervical part and limited activities of cervical spine. According to Frankel classification in function of spinal cord,16 cases of them belonged to Grade E and 5 cases to D. METHODS: All cases were fixed with C1 and C2 pedicle screws system following skull traction and reduction. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Biocompatibility between materials and host; bone graft fusion and functional improvement. RESULTS: No vertebral artery injury or spinal injury was found during operation,neither incision infection was. All cases were followed up for at least 8 months. Postoperative radiograph and CT detection revealed good positions of all screws with no loosening or breakage. All fractures healed within 5 months,and activities of cervical vertebra were not obviously limited except slightly limited rotation function. As for nerve function,5 cases of Grade D recovered up to Grade E. CONCLUSION: Posterior pedicle screw fixation system exhibits no specific biocompatibility responses. It greatly improves atlantoaxial stability and promotes functional recovery of spinal cord but has little influence on cervical function.
