The methods of morphometry, histologic fluorescence quantification and quantita-tive histochemistry,RNA content, lipofuscin (Lp) content, nucleolar volume andneuron number (cells/250?m) were applied in the study of neurons in hippocampalCA_3 area in 4 age groups of Wistar rats (1,3,17,30 months).RNA content, nucleolar volume and neuron number decrease with advancingage. The difference between adult (17 months) and aged (30 months) rats weresignificant (P

Acta Anatomica Sinica 1957;0(04):-
The surface structure of the pineal recess in rat (Sprague-Dawley) was observedby using scanning electron microscope.Because of the distribution ofthe cilia and microvilli shows a regular changes from peripheralarea to central area in the recess, the surface of the recess can be divided intoperipheral, transitional and central zone.In the peripheral zone, there aresupraependymal cells in different appearance among those tufted cilia.Thetransitional zone is between peripheral and central zone. The cilia in this zone arefewer than those of the peripheral zone.We have observed the neuron-like suprae-pendymal cell with a splndle shaped cell body and numerous small holes as well assupraependymal nerve fibers in the floor of this zone. The ending of the nerve fiberis varicose. Some smooth areas devoid of cilia and microvilli were presentin the central zone. There are also neuron like cells with slender processes, roundsupraependymal cell, some fine crisscrossing fibers and some sprouted cilia.Acluster of bleb-like structures are present in this zone. The relations between thesurface of the recess and the pineal gland are discussed.

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of the local drug resistance spectrum antibiotics and foreign guideline in the treatment of patients with community acquired pneumonia(CAP). Methods A prospective, randomized, single blind, and positive drug parallel controlled design was used in the treatment. CAP patients with no underlying disease outpatients and inpatients<48 hours were selected as the research object. The patients in the trial group were given sensitive local drug resistance spectrum antibiotics: moxifloxacin,400 mg and 1 times a day. The patients in the control group were given azithromycin tablets(each 500 mg,once daily) promulgated by the 2007 version of the IDSA / ATS adult CAP guideline. Results There were 106 cases of CAP patients,of which 77 cases completed treatment, including 39 cases in the experimental group and 38 cases in the control group. There were significant differences in the clinical efficacy and bacterial clearance rate between the two groups, with the clinical efficacy of 89.7% and 68.4%(P < 0.01),the bacterial clearance rate of 87.9% and 54.5%(P < 0.05),respectively. Conclusion The clinical efficacy of drug resistant spectrum sensitive antibiotics in the treatment of CAP in Kunming was better than that of IDSA/ATS. Clinicians should pay attention to the characteristics and composition of resistance of common pathogenic bacteria in our country during the study and reference from foreign guideline, and adjust the therapeutic regimen according to the changes of the local drug resistance monitoring data rather than copy the recommended treatment plan by foreign countries.

BACKGROUNDTo analyse the relationship between caspase-3 expression and cell proliferation, and to find molecular-biology markers to adjust canceration during rat lung squamous cell carcinogenesis.
METHODSThe 3-methylcholanthrene(MCA) and diethyinitrosamine (DEN) were used to induce lung squamous cell carcinoma by intra-left lobar-bronchial instillation in 50 Wistar rats, and 10 normal rats as controls. Expression of caspase-3 and PCNA were evaluated by immunohistochemistry (IHC).
RESULTSCaspase-3 protein positive rate was 44.12% in 34 rat lung squamous cell carcinomas, and positive coefficient value was 1.38±0.95, which were significantly lower than that of normal bronchial epithelium (P=0.007, P < 0.01) and premalignant lesions (P < 0.05, P < 0.05). The mean PCNA-labeling indexes (PCNA-LI) of normal rat bronchial epithelium, premalignant lesions and lung cancer were 14.10±5.02, 28.13±8.72 and 41.88±14.24 (P < 0.05), respectively. There was a negative correlation between caspase 3 and PCNA LI (r=-0.730 6, P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONSLoss expression of caspase-3 may promote tumor cell growth, and it may be important in rat lung squamous cell carcinogenesis. Detection of caspase-3 and PCNA proteins can be regarded as major markers in the diagnosis of lung canceration.

This study was aimed to discover core agent for the treatment of ulcerative colitis and explore the medication rules . A total of 525 ulcerative colitis medical records in the Jiangsu Province Hospital of TCM were selected from 2009 to 2013 . The records were input into the structured information acquisition system of clinical diagnosis and treatment . The complex network analysis was used to analyze core drugs of prescription and drug compatibility after data mining and rule processing . The results showed that the core drugs are Diyu , Huanglian, Muxiang, Baishao, Xianhecao, Danggui, Chaobaizhu, Huangqin, Zicao, Yiyiren, Fuling, Shanyao. It was concluded that data mining can be an objective method in the analysis of core drugs and compatibility in the treatment of ulcerative colitis. It can also be used to guide the clinical prescription medication.

PURPOSE: Details of patients hospitalized for asthma exacerbation in mainland China are lacking. To improve disease control and reduce economic burden, a large sample survey among this patient population is indispensable. This study aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics and outcomes of such patients.METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted on patients hospitalized for asthma exacerbation in 29 hospitals of 29 regions in mainland China during the period 2013 to 2014. Demographic features, pre-admission conditions, exacerbation details, and outcomes were summarized. Risk factors for exacerbation severity were analyzed.RESULTS: There were 3,240 asthmatic patients included in this study (57.7% females, 42.3% males). Only 28.0% used daily controller medications; 1,287 (39.7%) patients were not currently on inhaled corticosteroids. Acute upper airway infection was the most common trigger of exacerbation (42.3%). Patients with severe to life-threatening exacerbation tended to have a longer disease course, a smoking history, and had comorbidities such as hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and food allergy. The multivariate analysis showed that smoking history, comorbidities of hypertension, COPD, and food allergy were independent risk factors for more severe exacerbation. The number of patients hospitalized for asthma exacerbation varied with seasons, peaking in March and September. Eight patients died during the study period (mortality 0.25%).CONCLUSIONS: Despite enhanced education on asthma self-management in China during recent years, few patients were using daily controller medications before the onset of their exacerbation, indicating that more educational efforts and considerations are needed. The findings of this study may improve our understanding of hospital admission for asthma exacerbation in mainland China and provide evidence for decision-making.
