Objective To investigate the effect of intermittent hypoxia on neuronal apoptosis and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) expression in rat hippocampus,in order to explore the potential mechanism of hippocampal neuronal apoptosis induced by intermittent hypoxia.Methods Twenty-four Wistar male rats (280-350 g) were randomly divided into three groups:the normal control,intermittent normoxia and intermittent hypoxia group (n=8 each).The animal model of intermittent hypoxia was established by an automated nitrogen/oxygen profile system.The three groups were respectively exposed to continuous normoxia (21 ％O2),cyclical normoxia (21 ％O2),and cyclical hypoxia [alternating between normoxia (21 ％ O2) and hypoxia (5 ％ O2),every 120 seconds] throughout the eight hours of light time(8:00-16:00).The rats were dissected and the hippocampus was removed at the end of the designated duration of exposures for six weeks.TdT-mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) was used to detect the apoptotic rate of the hippocampus region in each group.Reverse transcription-PCR,immunohistochemistry (IHC) and Western blotting were used to examine mRNA and protein expressions of iNOS in the hippocampus tissue.Results The apoptotic rate of hippocampal neurons was higher in intermittent hypoxia group than in intermittent normoxia group [(28.236±0.081) ％ vs.(9.341±0.026)％,P＜0.05].The mRNA and protein expressions of iNOS were higher in intermittent hypoxia group than in intermittent normoxia group (3.394± 1.344 vs.0.125±0.040,7.793±0.052 vs.1.356±0.039,both P＜0.05].Conclusions Intermittent hypoxia can induce hippocampal neuronal apoptosis in rats,accompanied by the upregulation of iNOS gene transcription and protein expression,which indicates that iNOS may involve in the process of hippocampal neuronal apoptosis induced by intermittent hypoxia.

Objective To explore the effect of mesenteric lymphatic ligation on liver injury induced by severe acute pancreatitis. Methods 54 SD rats are randomly divided into sham-operation group (A), severe acute pancreatitis group (B) and severe acute pancreatitis and ligation group (C). Liver tissues were collected from each rat in 6, 12, and 24 h after ligation. Pathological changes in liver tissues were observed by haematoxylin and eosin staining. Levels of serum glutamic-pyruvic transaminase and glutamic oxalacetic transaminase were detected. Levels of TNF-α and IL-1 in liver homogenate were examined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. Results Under light microscopic examination, neutrophils and inflammatory exudate in hepatic lobule was increased as time prolonged in group B. Inflammation was reduced in group C as compared with group B.Levels of serum glutamic-pyruvic transaminase and glutamic oxalacetic transaminase were more significantly increased in groups B and C than in group A (P<0.05);while they were more significantly decreased in group C than in group B. Levels of TNF-αand IL-1 in liver homogenate were significantly increased in group B as compared with group A (P < 0.05); whereas they were more significantly decreased in group C than in group B at 24 h (P < 0.05). Conclusions Mesenteric lymphatic ligation can reduce liver injury in severe acute pancreatitis. Mesenteric lymphatic fluids may play an important role in severe acute pancreatitis.

Two γ-glutamyl-cysteine peptides (γ-GCPs ) , ( SC2 RC7 )-γ-L-glutamyl-S-allyl-L-cysteine ( 1 ) and ( SC2 RC7 )-γ-L-glutamyl-S-propyl-L-cysteine ( 2 ) have been isolated from fresh garlic scales using ion-exchange chromatography and pre-HPLC. Their molecular structures were identified by HPLC-MS, CD, 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR, specific rotation and confirmed by the corresponding standard compounds. The influence of exogenously adding 1 and 2 on the bioavailability of iron and zinc from food legume was examined with soybean and mung bean, in the level of 0. 01 mmol/5 g of legume respectively. The enhancing effect of the two γ-GCPs of compound 1 and 2 on bioaccessibility of iron was generally evidenced in the case of soybean ( from 1 . 88% to 6 . 73% and 4 . 42%) and mung bean ( from 2 . 52% to 12 . 04% and 9 . 38%) . The two γ-GCPs similarly enhanced the bioaccessibility of zinc from the food legume, in soybean ranging from 13. 37% to 23. 95% and 20. 58%, and in mung bean from 15. 98% to 28. 44% and 27. 05%. Thus, both compounds 1 and 2 obviously had a promoting influence on the bioavailability of iron and zinc from food legumes. These findings are of practical value in a food-based strategy to enhance the bioavailability of trace minerals for human health.

We propose a computational workflow (I3) for intuitive integrative interpretation of complex genetic data mainly building on the self-organising principle. We illustrate the use in inter-preting genetics of gene expression and understanding genetic regulators of protein phenotypes, particularly in conjunction with information from human population genetics and/or evolutionary history of human genes. We reveal that loss-of-function intolerant genes tend to be depleted of tissue-sharing genetics of gene expression in brains, and if highly expressed, have broad effects on the protein phenotypes studied. Objective: To assess the status of current e cigarette perception and its influencing factors among adolescents in Shanghai, so as to provide reference for the refinement of the prevention and control measures of teenagers e cigarette use. Methods: From May to June 2021, a stratified random cluster sampling was used to investigate 7 456 junior high and high school students in Shanghai. Harm and benefit perception of e cigarette as well as its social environment benefits were collected. Results: The rate of adolescents ever and current e cigarette use was 3.19% and 1.09%, respectively. The top four risk factors for low harm perception of e cigarette were adolescent e cigarette use( OR=2.74, 95%CI =2.10-3.59), high school students ( OR=1.47, 95%CI = 1.32 - 1.64 ), family members ( OR=1.45, 95%CI =1.24-1.70) and friends ( OR=1.36, 95%CI =1.20-1.54) using e cigarette. Adolescent ecigarette use ( OR=2.77, 95%CI =1.97-3.89), high school students( OR=2.11, 95%CI =1.89-2.36), friends ( OR= 1.63, 95%CI =1.42-1.87) and family members using e cigarette( OR=1.39, 95%CI =1.18-1.65) were the top four associated factors for high benefit perception of e cigarette. And, adolescent e cigarette use ( OR=1.95, 95%CI =1.47-2.59), high school students ( OR= 1.73, 95%CI =1.55-1.93), friends ( OR=1.60, 95%CI =1.40-1.82) and pocket money≥200 yuan using e cigarette( OR= 1.29 , 95%CI =1.17-1.43) were the top four risk factors for high social environmental benefit perception of e cigarette. Moreover, perception of e cigarette harm, benefit and social environmental benefit were associated with the risk of future use of e cigarette( OR = 0.78,1.44,1.21, P <0.01). Conclusion Being high school students and using e cigarette by oneself, friends, and family members are the important influencing factors for adolescents e cigarette perception. Both low harm and high benefit perception of e cigarette elevate the risk of future e cigarette use among adolescents, so effective measures should be taken to promote control education about e cigarette and smoke free environment construction.

Objective To explore the neuroprotection of Shuxuetongmai capsule pretreatment, and the effect on the expression of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38MAPK) in rats with middle cerebral artery occlusion. Methods Ninety-six male SD rats were divided randomly into sham-operated group,ischemia/reperfusion group (I/R),ischemia preconditioning group (IP),and Shuxuetongmai group(n=24). Each group was further randomly divided into 4 subgroups by 3 h, 6 h, 24 h and 72 h after reperfusion, 6 rats in each subgroup. Sham-operated group was only performed artery separation . The middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) model was set up in I/R rats by Longa method. The IP rats were performed for three minutes on the bilateral carotid artery ligation, and formed MCAO model 24 hours later. The rats in the Shuxuetongmai group were pretreated with Shuxuetongmai capsules for 14 days on gavage before the establishment of MCAO model. The neurological deficits were graded in rats by Zea Longa method. Western Blot was used to determine the protein expression of p38MAPK and P-p38MAPK. Tunel method was applied to detect the apoptosis of neurons and the relationship between expression of p38MAPK, P-p38MAPK and apoptosis of neuron. Results No neurological dysfunction appeared in the sham-operated group at each time points, but not for the other groups, which reached the peak at 24 h. Compared with the I/R group, IP group and Shuxuetongmai group presented the mild neurologic function deficiency at different time points in rats (P<0. 05), and no significant differences occurred between ischemia preconditioning group and Shuxuetongmai group (P>0.05). The obvious variation of the value of P-p38MAPK/p38MAPK wasn't detected in sham-operated group at different time points, while obviously presented in I/R group, and the ratios of P-p38MAPK/p38MAPK were increased gradually followed with reperfusion, approaching to the highest level at 24 h. Compared with the I/R group, the P-p38MAPK/p38MAPK declined from 3 h and to the lowest level at 24 h of reperfusion, in both IP and Shuxuetongmai groups(P<0. 05), and with similar phosphorylation. At different time points,very few neurons apoptosis were detected in sham-operated groups, but which increased gradually after reperfusion in other groups, and reached to the peak at 24 h. The neurons apoptosis in both IP group and Shuxuetongmai group were less than that in IR group ( P<0. 05 ) at different time points, and it showed no significant differences on neurons apoptosis between ischemia/preconditioning group and Shuxuetongmai group in rats (P>0. 05). Conclusion Shuxuetongmai capsule pretreatment can induce brain ischemic tolerance, attenuate the apoptosis of neurons in cerebral ischemia reperfusion, and improve neurologic function. The mechanism may be related to the inhibition of p38MAPK phosphorylation.

Objective To explore the immune mechanism in the systemic lupus erythematosus MRL/lpr mice at different months of age, and to provide the basis for research of its pathogenesis. Methods 3-,4-,5- and 6-month old female MRL/lpr mice, and wild type C57 female mice were used in this study, 10 mice per each group. Their organ coefficients were determined. ELISA was performed to detect the serum levels of double stranded DNA(ds-DNA) antibody. The interleukins IL-2,IL-4,IL-17 and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)in spleen tissue were detected. Flow cytometry was used to assess the content of spleen lymphocyte CD3 cells and CD4/CD8 cell ratio. Results Compared with the 3-month old wild-type C57 mice,the spleen coefficient,the blood concentration of ds-DNA antibody,IL-2 and TNF-α in the 3- to 6-month old MRL/lpr mice were significantly increased(P < 0.05). There was no significant difference between the concentrations of interleukin IL-4(P> 0.05). The blood concentration of IL-17 in the 5- and 6-month old MRL/lpr mice was significantly lower(P < 0.05 or P < 0.01)than that in the 3-month old MRL/lpr mice. The rest indexes of MRL/lpr mice showed no obvious changes or significant difference in the mice at different ages. Compared with the 3-month old C57 mice,the spleen CD3 lymphocyte concentration in the MRL/lpr mice was significantly decreased(P< 0.01). With the increasing age, the CD3 lymphocyte concentration and D4 +/CD8 +cell ratio in the MRL/lpr mice were decreased, however, showing a non-significant difference(P ﹥0.05). Conclusions The data obtained in this study indicate that 3-month old lupus MRL/lpr mice have already immune injury,increasing with the increase of age of the mice.

Objective : To investigate the spatial distribution and the influencing factors of hypertensive patients aged 45 years and above,and to provide evidence for the prevention and control of hypertension among middle-aged and elderly population. Methods : Multi-stage stratified random sampling method was used to collect 150 counties（cities or districts）from 30 provinces（municipalities or autonomous regions）from CHARLS database in 2015 according to the per capita GDP in different areas. Then the probability proportionate to size sampling method was used to select three villages（neighborhood committees）,80 families were randomly selected from each village（neighborhood committees）,and residents aged 45 years and above were interviewed. Spatial analysis was based on the vector map of China's provincial boundaries,Geoda and ArcGIS 10.2 software were used to analyze the prevalence and influencing factors of hypertension at provincial levels. Results : The health data of 14 880 people aged 45 years and above in 28 provinces（municipalities or autonomous regions）were obtained,including 4 203 patients with hypertension（28.25%）and 5 408 people with pre-hypertension（36.34%）. The results of local spatial analysis showed that the clustering regions of hypertension patients were in northeast and eastern parts of China. The results of spatial regression analysis showed that males,age of 80 years and above and overweight were the main risk factors for hypertension（all P<0.05）,which had greater influence on the middle part of China,north and northeast of China,and the east and north of China,respectively. Conclusion Males,age of 80 years and above and overweight were the main risk factors for hypertension in middle-aged and elderly population in China. The main prevention and control areas of hypertension were eastern and northeast China.

The development of neuroimaging has led to a high diagnostic rate of cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD).The hemorrhage transformation (HT) and clinical prognosis after intravenous thrombolysis in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) with CSVD have become hot topics in recent years.Relevant studies have shown that different subtypes of CSVD may have different influences in HT and clinical prognoses in AIS.In clinic,each subtype of CSVD may not exist alone in one patient,therefore,some scholars put forward the concept of total burden of CSVD to further quantitatively assess the severity of CSVD in the whole brain and their effects on HT and clinical prognosis after intravenous thrombolysis of AIS.This article reviews the researches on HT and clinical prognosis after intravenous thrombolysis in AIS with CSVD.
