BACKGROUND:Intratubal contraceptive devices are simple and effective, which can cause less interference on female reproductive function and endocrine balance.
OBJECTIVE:To explain the advantages and adverse effects of shape-memory intratubal contraceptive material and other intratubal contraceptive materials.
METHODS:A computer-based search of Wanfang, CNKI and PubMed was performed to search related articles concerning shape-memory intratubal contraceptive material and other intratubal contraceptive materials published from 1996 to 2013.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The main intratubal contraceptive materials include memory metal biomaterials, non-degradable polymer biomaterials, and degradable polymer biomaterials. After implantation, the memory-shape intratubal contraceptive device plays a stimulating role in the tubal epithelium for a short time, but the effect on the mucosal epithelial layer of the fal opian tube is transient. With the increasing time of implantation, inflammatory reactions of the tubal epithelium relieve gradual y with repair of vil i on the tubal wal , indicating there is a reproductive tissue basis of fal opian tube recanalization. Polyethylene materials are characterized as high impact resistance, abrasion resistance, excellent stability to chemical drugs, water absorption, electric insulation, and bioinert, which are used as stent materials of almost al the intrauterine devices. Silicone is characterized as heat resistance, cold resistance, non-toxicity, resistance to biological aging, chemical stability, physical inertia, physical and mechanical properties, and silicone, after implantation into human body, cannot cause foreign body reaction. Polylactic acid has good chemical inertness, biocompatibility and ease of processing, and may be stil present in the body after 5 years of implantation.

Purpose:To investigate whether transforming growth factor ?1 (TGF ?1) pathway is involved in the mechanism of dexamethasone (Dex) mediated proliferation inhibition in ovarian cancer cell line HO 8910.Methods:To analyse cell proliferation and cell cycle distribution by cell counts and flow cytometric analysis, respectively ; to determine the expression levels of TGF ?1 and its two receptors, T?R Ⅰ and T?R Ⅱ , by quantative RT PCR, ELISA and(or) immunocytochemistry methods.Results:Dex induced a G 0 /G 1 cell cycle arrest in HO 8910 cells, and it up regulated T?R Ⅱ expression in a concentration dependent manner.The level of T?R Ⅱ mRNA was the highest after treatment with Dex for 8 hours, with 1.4 fold more than that of control at concentration of 10 -7 mol/L ( P

OBJECTIVE:To observe clinical efficacy and safety of irinotecan combined with tegafur,raltitrexed or 5-fluoroura-cil for advanced gastric cancer. METHODS:One hundred advanced gastric cancer patients with first-line regimen failure were se-lected as research objects from our hospital during May 2013-May 2016. According to random number table,they were divided into observation group(n=32),control group A(n=33)and control group B(n=35). Observation group was given Irinotecan hydro-chroride injection 180 mg/m2,ivgtt(d1)+Tegafur capsule 60 mg/m2,po,bid(after meal),2 weeks as a cycle. Control group A was given Irinotecan hydrochroride injection 180 mg/m2,ivgtt(d1)+ Raltitrexed for injection 3 mg/m2,ivgtt(d1,15 min),3 weeks as a cycle. Control group B was given Irinotecan hydrochroride injection 180 mg/m2,ivgtt(d1)+Calcium folinate injection 200 mg/m2, ivgtt(d1)+5-fluorouracil injection 400 mg/m2,iv+2400~3000 mg/m2,ivgtt(46 h),d1,2 weeks as a cycle. On the 7th day after 2 courses of treatment,clinical efficacies of observation group and control group A were evaluated;on the 12th day after 3 courses of treatment,clinical efficacies of control group B were evaluated. Clinical efficacy and the occurrence of ADR were observed in 3 groups. RESULTS:One patient withdrew from control group A and 2 from control group B. 97 patients were included in the study finally,including 32 cases in observation group,32 cases in control group A,33 cases in control group B. The total remission rate of observation group(53.13%)was significantly higher than that of control group A(43.75%)and control group B(36.36%);to-tal control rate of observation group(81.25%)was significantly higher than that of control group A(68.75%)and control group B (57.58%),with statistical significance(P<0.05). There was no statistical significance in the incidence of ADR among 3 groups (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS:Clinical efficacy of irinotecan combined with tegafur is better than irinotecan combined with ralti-trexed or 5-fluorouracil in the treatment of advanced gastric cancer with good safety.

Fibrosis is the major cause of corneal scarring.Transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) plays a key role in corneal homeostasis and repair.Corneal epithelial basement membrane is thought to be the important barrier of corneal epitheliumstroma interaction.In different stages of corneal wound healing,the isoforms of TGF-β have different temporal and spatial expression.The integrity of basement membrane is a critical factor of these procedures.The temporal and spatial distributions of TGF-β isoforms play the crucial roles in cell migration,proliferation,phenotype changes and deposition of extracellular matrix in corneal wound healing.It is the mechanism of corneal scarring and scar-free healing.This article reviews recent articles to elucidate the biological functions of TGF-β and the temporal and spatial distribution of its isoforms in corneal wound healing.

AIM: To investigate the effects of synthetical glucocorticoid dexamethasone(Dex) on the activation of two members of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) family, extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase1/2(ERK1/2 ) and p38 MAPK (p38) in human ovarian cancer cell line HO-8910. Objective To investigate the risk factors of renal damage in children with Henoch-Schonlein purpura(HSP).Methods Two hundred and ninety-two children with HSP admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from Jan.2007 to Mar.2008 were reviewed.According to the findings urinary examination,children were divided into non-renal damage group(183 cases)and renal damage group(109 cases).Clinical data(gender,age,predisposing factors,rash repeated frequency,system damage)and laboratory examination [blood WBC,PLT,IgA,fibrinogen(FIB),TT,ASO,C3,C4] of 2 groups were compared,and then multiple regression analysis were performed to evaluate the risk factors of renal damage in children with HSP.Results 1.Among them,37.33% cases had renal da-mage,and hematuria and proteinuria manifestations were common.2.Simple Logistic regression showed that age was at least 8 years old and the number of purpura relapses was at least 4 times,increased serum FIB levels had significant difference between the 2 groups(P=0.030,0.000 and 0.011,respectively).There was no significant difference between the 2 groups in other clinical data and laboratory examinations.3.Mutiple Logistic regression showed that when the number of purpura relapses was at least 4 times,increased serum FIB levels were the risk factors of the renal damage(P=0.000 and 0.029,respectively);while there was no significant difference for the children who were at least 8 years old between the 2 groups(P=0.175).Conclusion When the number of purpura relapses is at least 4 times,increased serum FIB levels are the risk factors of the renal damage in children with HSP.

In recent years, great achievements have been made in the therapy of viral hepatitis B and viral hepatitis C, as majority of hepatitis C patients can be clinically cured.Though current antiviral therapy is still unable to eradicate hepatitis B virus in infected hepatocyte and few patients could achieve HBsAg loss or seroconversion, end-stage liver disease like cirrhosis, liver failure and hepatocellular carcinoma have been dramatically prevented.The advances in treatments have prompted the progress in laboratory diagnosis of viral hepatitis.Here we review the progress in the field.
