1.Clinical evaluation of class Ⅱ cavity restoration in molars with cobalt-chromium inlay and amalgam
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2007;0(40):-
Seventy patients, who received type Ⅱ restoration of mandibular first molars in Department of Stomatology, Third People's Hospital of Shenyang, were selected and randomly divided into 2 groups, which were treated with silver amalgam filling and cobalt-chromium inlay, separately. The patients were followed up for 2 years to evaluate clinical outcomes such as marginal color, marginal adaptation, contour, secondary caries, and breakage of dental prosthetic restoration. The findings showed that cobalt-chromium inlay had better effect in marginal color, marginal adaptation and contour in class Ⅱcavity restoration than silver amalgam filling, and no material reaction or host reaction was found by two methods. This indicates that both kinds of materials have good biocompatibility, and cobalt-chromium inlay in the restoration of dental defect shows a more promising prospect.

3.Research progresses on relationship between Wnt inhibitory factor-1 and tumor
China Oncology 1998;0(04):-
WIF-1 is an important antagonist in the Wnt/?-catenin pathway. As a tumor suppressor, WIF-1 is down-regulated in majority cancers but when it is correlated with WIF-1 promoter hypermethylation and treated with demethylation drug, its expression can be restored.Functional loss of WIF-1 due to promoter hypermethylation plays an important role in a tumor's pathogenesis, possibly mainly through aberrant canonical Wnt/?-catenin signal activation. The correlation of the expression of WIF-1 with clinicopathological features in different cancers is not identical.Detecting WIF-1 and promoter hypermethylation may offer help for early diagnosis, therapy and predicting prognoses.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2009;13(3):571-574
BACKGROUND: There have been no reports in CNKI database addressing the cellular apoptosis caused by stainless steel materials used in the dental magnetic attachment. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of 3 stainless steel materials used in the dental magnetic attachment, cobalt-chromium alloy, titanium alloy, and austenitic stainless steel on L-929 cell apoptosis. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: A comparative observation was performed at the Central Laboratory of China Medical University between June and December 2007. MATERIALS: Mouse L-929 fibroblasts in logarithmic growth phase were provided by Institute of Tumor, First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University, China. Cobalt-chromium (Co-Cr) alloy was purchased from Heraeus-Kulzer Corporation, China. Titanium alloy was obtained from Morita Company, Japan. Austenitio stainless steel was provided by Institute of Mental Research Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. METHODS: The leaching liquor of Co-Cr alloy, titanium alloy, and austenitic stainless steel was made by culturing 3 kinds of round-slice mental materials in 24-well plate with RPMI-1640 medium at 0.1 mL/cm2 (leaching liquor volume: specimen surface area). L-929 fibroblasts were divided into 5 groups: Co-Cr alloy, titanium alloy, austenitic stainless steel, negative control, and positive control. The Co-Cr alloy, titanium alloy, and austenitic stainless steel groups were cultured with corresponding leaching liquor (250, 500, and 1 000 g/L). Cells from the negative control and positive control groups were cultured with simple RPMI 1640 medium and 100 mg/L mitomycin-treated L-929 cells. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Following 24-hour culture, the effects of 3 kinds of leaching liquor (at different concentrations) on L-929 fibroblasts were examined through the use of flow cytometer. RESULTS: There was significant difference in cellular apoptosis between Co-Cr alloy, titanium alloy, and austenitic stainless steel groups at the same concentration or between different concentrations for the same dental material (P < 0.01), but no significant difference existed between titanium-alloy (250 g/L) and negative control groups (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: Co-Cr alloy, titanium alloy, and austenitic stainless steel have apparent influence on cellular apoptosis. The apoptosis rate is the greatest in the Co-Cr alloy group, followed by austenitic stainless steel group, and lastly titanium alloy group.

Objective To investigate neurogenesis in the dentate gyrus of adult rat following conditioned fear stimulus. Methods 24 adult male rats were randomly divided into conditioned fear stimulus group and control group, and all rats were intraperitoneally injected bromodeoxyuridine(BrdU)3 days before conditioned fear stimuli.Animals in conditioned fear stimulus group were given monotone matching foot shock and made conditioned fear stimulus model, animals in control group only give monotone.Freezing time was detected before stimuli and 7th,14th days after stimuli, then rats were sacrificed 7th or 14th day after fear conditioned stimulus, and immunohistochemistry for Brdu was detected. Results Behavioral assessment showed that the percents of freezing time in conditioned fear stimulus group 7th,14th days after conditioned fear stimulus were significantly high(88.68%,91.33%)than those in control group(11.18%,14.23%,P<0.01)and before stimulus(24.11%,16.11%,P<0.01).Compared to control group(1567±28,580±5),Brdu positive cells in dentate gyrus of rat in conditioned fear stimulus group(1364±21,296±22)were decreased, and it reached to a statistical significance on 14th day (P<0.05).Conclusion The decreased neurogenesis in the dentate gyrus of adult rat following conditioned fear stimuli may have relation to fear and other emotion memory.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2012;26(19):897-900
OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the expression of Forkhead Box M1 transcription factor (FoxM1) mRNA and protein in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) and its clinical significance.
METHOD:
Immunohistochemistry was used to examine the expression of FoxM1 in 89 LSCC tissues, 89 adjacent normal tissues and 20 laryngeal papilloma (LP) tissues. Reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used to examine the expression of FoxM1 in 20 LSCC tissues, 20 LP tissues and 20 adjacent normal tissues. The relationship between FoxM1 expression and the clinicopathological parameters of LSCC were analyzed.
RESULT:
FoxM1 mRNA and protein expression were gradually decreased from LSCC to LP and normal tissues. The difference was significant (P<0.05). There was a significantly correlation between FoxM1 and histologic differentiation, T stage, lymph node metastasis and clinical stage. Tumors with poorer differentiation, in higher T stage, with lymph node metastasis or in higher clinical stage presented higher FoxM1 expression than tumors with better differentiation, in lower T stage, without lymph node metastasis or in lower clinical stage (P<0.05). The positive expression of FoxM1 was not related with the age, gender or primary site of LSCC patients (P>0.05).
CONCLUSION
The up-regulation of FoxM1 may play an important role in the invasion and metastasis of LSCC.
