Hepatic fibrosis of rat was induced by CCl_4 and treated with tetrandrine(Tet). Results showed that Tet had obvious effect of anti-hepatic fibrosis which can be borne out by determining the activities of liver enzyme spectrum consisting of ALT,AKP,ChE,MAO and r-GT in serum. The meaurement can be observed dynamically, is noninvasive and more rapid, accurate and convenient than invasive hepatic biopsy. It provides valuable biochemical indexes for diagnosis, curative effect and prognostic judgement of hepatic fibrosis.

BACKGROUND: Metal implants have been extensively applied in joint arthoplasty, but the stress shielding effect caused by its high elastic modulus results in a series of complications, such as bone resorption, bone atrophy and prosthesis loosening. Carbon fiber-reinforced polyetheretherketone (CF-PEEK) composites are anisotropic and exhibit more advantages used for prosthesis due to its low elastic modulus and high intensity.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the blood compatibility of CF-PEEK composites, and compare the biomechanical properties after arthroplasty between CF-PEEK composites and Co-Cr-Mo used for femoral head prosthesis. METHODS: (1) The blood compatibility of CF-PEEK composites was evaluated through hemolysis test. (2) Femoral samples from eight fresh cadavers were collected and randomly divided into two groups, followed by subjected to CF-PEEK and Co-Cr-Mo prosthesis replacement, respectively. The displacement between the prosthesis and bone was measured under loading 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1000 N, and the torsional strength after arthroplasty was detected.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) The hemolysis rate of the CF-PEEK composites was 3.23% < 5%, which was in line with the national standards for biological evaluation of medical devices. (2) The micromovement in distal prosthesis was significantly less than that of proximal prosthesis under different loads in both two groups (P < 0.05). (3) The torsion angle under different loads in the CF-PEEK group was significantly less than that in the Co-Cr-Mo group (P < 0.05), and the torsion stiffness in the CF-PEEK group was significantly higher than that in the Co-Cr-Mo group (P < 0.05). (4) To conclude, the CF-PEEK composites possess good blood compatibility and stability, which can be used as a prosthesis material.

AIM and METHODS: To detect the changes of amyloid protein (?-AP) and polypeptide growth factor levels and study their role in the possible pathogenesis of Alzheimers disease (AD) and vascular dementia (VD). We detected serum ?-AP, transforming growth factor- ?(TGF-?) and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-Ⅱ) levels by radio immunoassay in 8 patients with AD,15 patients with VD and 63 patients with ischemic cerebrovascular disease(ICVD) and 38 cases healthy volunteers. RESULTS: In AD and VD groups, serum ?-AP, TGF-? and IGF-Ⅱ were significantly higher than that in ICVD and control group; Serum ?- AP,TGF-? and IGF-Ⅱ contents in ICVD group were obviously higher than that in normal control, the highest increase occurred in sequel of cerebral infarction(SCI) and vertebrobasislar ischemia(VBI) groups. There are positive correlation among ?- AP, TGF-? and IGF-Ⅱ in AD and VD groups.CONCLUSION: ①?- AP is a risk factor in the pathogenesis of AD and VD. ② TGF- ? and IGF-Ⅱ play roles in the neurotoxin effect that lead to dementia. ③ ?-AP plays a important role in formation of senile plaque.

Objective To observe the effect of platelet rich plasma(PRP)combined with core decompression on the steroid-induced avascular necrosis of the femoral head(SANFH)and on MMP/TIM in rabbits. Methods A total of 42 New Zealand white rabbits were used in this study, and were randomly divided into 3 groups(decompression, combination and control groups, each n=14). The rabbit model of SANFH was established by i.m. injecting prednisolone acetate in the decompression group and combination group. The improved Landesberg method was used to make the platelet rich plasma. The decompression group received core decompression treatment while the combination group received PRP combined with core decompression for bone repair. X-ray photography of the hip joint of the two groups were taken at 2,6 and 10 weeks after the surgery, and the Lane-Sandhu X-ray scores and new bone area ratio were compared. Venous blood samples of the 3 groups were collected and the bilateral femoral heads were taken for further examination. The left femoral heads were used for histopathological observation and the right ones were used to determine the expression of the mRNA of MMP-2,MMP-9, TIMP-1, and TIMP-2. Results The levels of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in the decompression group were higher than that in the combination group and control group after surgery. The levels of TIMP-1 and TIMP-2 in the decompression group were significantly lower than the combination group and control group(P < 0.05). The IL-6 level and the rate of empty bone lacunae in the decompression group were significantly higher than the combination group and control group(P < 0.05), and that of the combination group was higher than the control group(P < 0.05). The combination group had a better joint imaging and histopathological evaluation than the decompression group after surgery. Conclusions Our findings demonstrate that PRP combined with core decompression can exert a positive effect on the MMP/TIMP and bone tissue repair in the treatment of steroid-induced avascular necrosis of the femoral head in rabbits.

Objective:
The purpose of this study was to observe the clinical characteristics of two types of geotropic direction-changing positional nystagmus, the transient(nystagmus time <1 min) and the persistent(nystagmus time > 1 min), and to evaluate the efficacy of the barbecue roll maneuver.
Methods:
A total of 105 cases diagnosed by supine roll test were studied, which including 35 males and 70 females and the average age was (56.9±14.6)years. There were 70 transient geotropic DCPN and 35 persistent geotropic DCPN. The clinical characteristics and the immediate and one-week efficacy of the barbecue roll maneuver were discussed.
Results:
The nystagmus disappeared at the null-point position and the nystagmus in supine position were opposite to the bowing (90° nose-down) position in persistent geotropic DCPN cases. While to the transient geotropic DCPN cases, there were no NP and no nystagmus in prone position. The ratio of the first onset of the two groups was 28.6% (persistent) and 72.9% (transient) respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (

Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of neuro-endoscopic evacuation and microsurgery via keyhole approach in early spontaneous supertentorial intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Methods:A prospective multi-center randomized controlled trial was performed; 114 patients with spontaneous supertentorial ICH (time from onset to surgery<6 h) admitted to Departments of Neurosurgery, Shunde Hospital of Southern Medical University, Jiangmen Central Hospital, Affiliated Hospital of School of Medicine of Yanbian University from January 2019 to December 2021 and met the surgical indications were selected. They were divided into endoscopic group (evacuation of intracerebral hematoma under neuroendoscope, n=71) and microscopic group (microsurgery of intracerebral hematoma via keyhole approach, n=43) according to different surgical methods. After 1:1 propensity score matching of the general data, surgical time, hematoma clearance rate, early postoperative re-bleeding rate, Glasgow coma scale (GCS) scores 7 d after surgery, activity of daily living (ADL) scores 6 months after surgery, mortality, and surgery-related complications of 66 patients (33 from each group after matching) were compared. Results:The difference of surgical time between endoscopic group and microscopic group was statistically significant (125[102, 157] mins vs. 175[125, 260] mins, P<0.05). However, hematoma clearance rate (93.00%[80.88%, 96.52%] vs. 93.31%[88.15%, 96.03%]), early postoperative re-bleeding rate (15.2% vs. 9.1%), GCS scores 7 d after surgery (13[10, 15] vs. 12[8, 14]), ADL scores 6 months after surgery (65[45, 85] vs. 55[0, 85]), mortality rate (18.2% vs. 21.2%) and incidences of postoperative intracranial infection and acquired pulmonary infection were not statistically significant between the two groups ( P>0.05). Conclusion:Comparing with microsurgery via keyhole approach, neuro-endoscopy could shorten the surgical time, but not improve the prognosis or safety in early spontaneous supertentorial ICH patients.
