Objective To investigate the effects of orexin-A on learning and memory of pentyleneterazol (PTZ)-kindled epileptic rats. Methods Adult Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group(normal saline,NS)and PTZ group. The PTZ-kindled rats were randomly divided into,orexin-A group and NS group administrated by intracerebroventricular(i.c.v.)injection of 10μl orexin-A(1.4 nmol/μl)or 10μl NS.Using Morris water msze experiment, the ability of learning and memory was measured in all rats. Results Eighty percent of rats in PIZ group were kindled successfully after intraperitoneal injection of 35mg/kg PTZ every day for 30 days.Compared to control group, the escape latency in the PTZ-kindled rats was significantly increased in place navigation test(PNT)(F=200.956,P<0.01),whereas a remarkable reduction of time spent in the target quadrant and number of pool circlings in 120 seconds Was observed during probe trials.Following injection of orexin-A,the latency of escape platform was significantly declined in both PTZ-kindled((39.73±2.03)8,(33.76±2.96)s)and NS rats, increased the number of crossing the platform(10.83±1.80)vs(4.67±3.34).In addition, the treatment with orexin-A markedly increased swim velocity and number of pool circlings in beth groups(P<0.01),particularly to the PTZ-kindled rats. Conclusion Spatial learning and memory in the PIZ-kindled rats can be improved by treatment with orexin-A.

The patient complained of recurrent sore throat for 2 years, who was diagnosed parapharyngeal abscess or tonsillitis for four times during June 16, 2012 to April 16, 2013. Special physical examination: left or right lateral pharyngeal wall is slightly elevated. Routine blood test showed increasing white blood cells and neutrophils. Oropharyngeal CT showed right lateral pharyngeal wall swelling and abscess formation? Repeated puncture showed no obvious purulent secretions. Symptoms were improved after anti-inflammatory treatment, but it recurrently happened later. Bilateral tonsillectomy was performed under general anesthesia on April 29, 2013. Pathological report (May 6, 2013) showed: (left) chronic tonsillitis with lymphoid hyperplasia; chronic inflammation in (right) tonsil tissue, and salivary gland tissue is also observed, considering as the hyperplasia of ectopic salivary gland tissue and interstitial lymphocytic oinfiltration.

Journal of Medical Research 2006;0(05):-
Objective To study whether early treatment of aminophylline can protect renal function in neonates with perinatal asphyxia. Methods 60 neonates with perinatal asphyxia were randomly divided into 2 groups.Within the first hour after birth, the treatment group(30 cases)received intravenously a single dose of aminophylline(5mg/kg),and the control group(30 cases)received placebo of water.Urinary Nacety-?-D-Amino-Glucosidase(NAG)activity was recorded everyday during the first 3 days of life.Heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure were recorded per 4h.Results Urinary NAG activity of treatment group at 48h and 72h after birth were significantly lower than that of control group(P

Objective To explore the effects of community-based comprehensive intervention on social function and quality of life of patients with bipolar disorder. Methods 244 bipolar disorder patients were assigned into control group (n=119) and intervention group (n=125). The control group accepted antipsychotics only, and the intervention group accepted community-based comprehensive intervention in addition. They were assessed with Social Disability Screening Schedule (SDSS) and Generic Quality of Life Inventory-74 (GQOLI-74) before and 6, 12 months after treatment. Results The SDSS score was lower (P<0.05) and the GQOLI-74 score was higher (P<0.05) in the intervention group than in the control group. Conclusion Community-based comprehensive intervention can improve the social function and quality of life of patients with bipolar disorder.

Objective To investigate the effect of paliperidone extended-release combined with modified electric convulsive therapy(MECT) on cognitive function in patients with refractory schizophrenia. Methods 30 patients were reviewed with the Wisconsin Card SortingTest (WCST), the Trail Making Test A and B, Digit Span Test (DST), Digit Symbol Substitution Test (DSST) and the Clinical MemoryScale (CMS). Results The time shortened after treatment in the Trail Making Test A and B (P<0.05). There was no significant difference beforeand after the treatment in the other tests. Conclusion Paliperidone combined with modified electric convulsive therapy may inmprovethe memory and attention in schizophrenics.

Objective To study the efficacy of repetitive transcranial magneticstimulation(rTMS) of the right prefrontal cortex combined paroxetine for patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder ( OCD) under doubleblind , sham-controlled conditions. Methods Patients were randomly assigned to 2 sessions of real ( n = 32) or sham ( n = 31) rTMS and both group received Paroxetine treatment. rTMS treatments lasted 20 minutes, and the frequency was 10 Hz and the intensity was 100% of motor threshold for real rTMS. Psychopathology was assessed by HAMA.Y-BOCS before the treatment, immediately after the experimental treatment, and 1,2,4,6 weeks after the experimental treatment by an independent reviewer. Results In combined therapy group,9(32. 14% ) recovered, 10(35.71% ) remitted,5( 17. 86% ) improved,4( 14. 29% ) remained unresponsive. In contrast, there were 4(16.36%) recovery,5(21.82%) remission, 10(38.18% ) improvement,6(23.64% ) unresponse in drug therapy group. The outcome of ITT showed all the patients in the two groups significant improvement (the scores of YBOCS( F=56.258, P=0.000) ;the scores of HAMA( F=41.675, P=0.000) after the treatment, but the effectiveness in the combined therapy group was better than that in the drug therapy group (the scores of Y-BOCS, F= 13.652, P=0.028;the scores of HAMA, F= 11.632, P=0.031). Conclusions Repetitive transcranial rTMS of the right prefrontal cortex combined paroxetine is more effective than paroxetine only in treatment of refractory OCD.

Objective:To detect the interleukin-22(IL-22) levels in peripheral blood of the asthma patients and analyze the relationship between the IL-22 levels and IgE,pulmonary function, fractional exhaled nitric oxide(FENO),and to investigate the role of IL-22 in the pathogenesis of bronchial asthma. Methods:Seventy-eight patients with asthma were selected as experiment group. The asthma patients were divided into increased IgE group (n=46)and normal IgE group(n=32)according to the IgE levels. The asthma patients were also divided into acute attack stage and clinical control stage according to patients' clinical symptoms. In addition, twenty healthy controls were chosen as healthy control group. The plasma IL-22 levels, IgE,forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) and FENO levels of the subjects in various groups were detected and compared between various groups. The correlations between the plasma IL-22 levels and IgE, FEV1,FENO were analyzed. Results:The plasma IL-22 level and FENO level of the patients in asthma group were higher than those in healthy control group(P<0.05).The IL-22 level and FENO level of the patients in clinical control stage were lower than those in acute attack stage, but they were still higher than those in healthy control group(P<0.05).The plasma IL-22 level of the patients in increased IgE group was higher than that in normal IgE group(P<0.05).There were significant negative correlations between the IL-22 levels and FEV1 in the asthma patients in acute attack group and clinical control group(r=-0.365 3,P<0.05;r=-0.267 2,P<0.05),but there was no significant correlation between the IL-22 levels and FENO(r=0.011 9,P>0.05;r=0.059 8,P>0.05).Conclusion:The increased expression of IL-22 in peripheral blood of the patients with asthma may participate in the pathogenesis of asthma, and may aggravate the deterioration of pulmonary function of the asthma patients.
