Objective To study on the cross-cultural adjustment and application of the Death Anxiety Scale based on the national culture and establish the Chinese version of this scale. Methods Through cross-cultural adaptation and formal investigation, the Chinese version of Death Anxiety Scale was established.A cross-sectional study was conducted among 450 medical college students and 50 hospice workers with multiple diagnoses to validate the Chinese version of the Templer's Death Anxiety Scale (T-DAS),after 7to 10 days,60 of them were retested.Reliability and validity of the Chinese version of Templer's Death Anxiety Scale (T-DAS)were evaluated according to the data. Results The Chinese version of the Templer's Death Anxiety Scale(T-DAS)was easy to understand. Most respondents finished the whole scale in 5 to10 minutes, and the effective recover rate of the scale was 97.4%.The correlation between the T-DAS and the single item test for the death anxiety was 0.516.Structural equation models and factor analysis displayed good construction of the T-DAS.The internal consistency reliability evaluated by Cronbach'α was 0.71 for the whole 15 items. The retest reliability was 0.831.Conclusions Based on the analysis, the Chinese version of the T-DAS has good reliability and validity, and should be a good instrument for the evaluation of the death anxiety.

Objective To study the effect of ro ta ry magnetic field on experimental myocardial ischemia caused by Pitui trin (Pit) injection in rats. MethodsThirty rats with experimental myocardial ischemia induced by intravenous injection of Pit (2U/kg) were divided into three groups: control group, ischemia g roup, rotary magnetic field group. The ST-segment elevated amplitude, T -wave amplitude of ECG, serum NO content, SOD activity and MAD content in the three groups were observed and compared. Results The 30 mT rotary magentic field for 30 min significantly increa sed SOD activity ( P

Objective To study influences of magnetic field on behavior of depressive rats under chronic unpredictable mild stress, and possible mechanisms under such phenomena. Methods Thirty-six Wistar rats were divided into model group, magnetic field group and control group (n =12 in each group) according to random number table. The model group and the magnetic field group received CUMS stimulation daily for 5 weeks, while the control group received no any treatment. At the end of the fifth week, rats in the magnetic field group were placed in the center of a magnetic machine (400 mT),and the model group was raised freely for4 weeks. The severity of depressive behaviors, cortisol levels and contents of C-reactive protein in blood and urine sample were tested pre-treatment,at the end of 5 weeks and 9 weeks. Results After 5 weeks, consumption of glucose solution of the control group was higher than the other two groups (P < 0.05).After 5 and 9 weeks, body weights of the magnetic group and the model group were lower than the control group (P < 0.05).At the end of 9 weeks, performance of the magnetic group as indicated by frequency of grid crossing, grooming time and suspending tail test were improved to a significantly greater extent than the other two groups (P < 0.05).In addition, the urine content of cortisol in 24 hours in magnetic field and model groups was higher than the control group at the end of 5 weeks, and the serum level of cortisol in the magnetic field group were significantly higher than the model group at the end of 9 weeks (P < 0.05).Conclusion The 400mT magnetic field can reduce the severity of behavior changes of rats with CUMS-induced depression, which might be attributable to its influence on the cortisol levels in blood and urine.

A multi-channel central monitoring system based on B/S mode is designed. It is consistent of the central monitoring server software, the Internet Explorer in the client PC, and a physiological signal collector. The server software can accept two client's request of data transfer, and real-time monitor several patients through Internet. The client uses the B/S mode, and just need to install an ActiveX control. The only thing users should to do is opening the Intemet Explorer, from which the waveform and signals are shown and transferred. The system extends the central monitoring service from hospital to the community, and is benefit for patient's long-term observation and cutting fees. Additionally, it can be a new solution of network based health care devices.

Objective To explore the key signaling pathways and molecules of bone sialoprotein (BSP) to promote proliferation and differentiation of preosteoclasts RAW264.7. Methods RAW264.7 cells were treated with BSP and the inhibitors of signaling pathway molecules. MTS and TRAP staining kits were used to evaluate the effects of proliferation and differentiation. The activity assay kits of Calcineurin, AKT, JNK, ERK and p38 were used to detect their activities. Results Inhibiting ERK and p38 can inhibit cell proliferation induced by BSP significantly, while inhibiting AKT, Calcineurin and PI3K can reduce the role of promoting the differentiation by BSP. With increasing treatment time of BSP, the activity of Calcineurin in RAW264.7 cells increased. Furthermore, the activity of AKT was maximum at 48 h after treated with BSP, while the activity of JNK, ERK and p38 were maximum at 24 h after treated with BSP. Conclusions BSP mainly regulates the ERK and p38 of MAPK pathway to promote RAW264.7 cell proliferation, and regulates AKT, PI3K and Calcineurin pathways to promote RAW264.7 cell differentiation.

AIM:To evaluate the effect of curcumin on impaired learning-memory ability and the expression of high mobility group box protein 1 ( HMGB1 ) and c-Jun N-terminal kinase ( JNK ) in a rat model of Alzheimer disease (AD).METHODS:Male Sprague-Dawley rats, weighing 250~270 g, were randomly divided into 4 groups (n=9):blank control group (group A), model group (group B), curcumin treatment group (group C, curcumin injected intraper-itoneally at 100 mg· kg-1· d-1 for 6 consecutive days) and solvent control group (group D).The rats of AD model were induced by injection of ibotenic acid into the nucleus basalis of Meynert ( NBM) bilaterally. All rats were trained in Morris maze to assess the ability of learning and memory .The expression of HMGB1 and JNK in the hippocampus was detected by the methods of immunohistochemistry and Western blotting .RESULTS:Compared with group A , the average escape laten-cy (AEL) in groups B and D were obviously longer (P<0.05), while AEL in group C in the 5th and 6th days were signif-icantly shorter (P<0.05).The releases of HMGB1 in the CA1 and CA3 areas in groups B and D from the nucleus were a-bundant.Compared with groups B and D , HMGB1 in hippocampal CA1 and CA3 areas in group C secreted out of the nu-cleus decreased obviously (P<0.05).No significant difference of the release of HMGB1 between group A and group C was observed (P>0.05).No significant difference in the expression of HMGB1 in the hippocampus among the 4 groups was found (P>0.05).However, compared with groups B and D , the expression of JNK in group C was decreased obvi-ously (P<0.05).CONCLUSION: Curcumin significantly improves the learning and memory ability of AD rats .The probable mechanisms may be related to inhibiting the release of HMGB 1 from the nucleus of hippocampal neurons and de-creasing the expression of JNK in the hippocampus .

Aim To investigate the influence of total fl avones of buckwheat flower (TFBF) on the productivity of the non-enzymatic advanced glycation end products (AGEs) in vivoand vitro. Methods TFBF in different dosages (0.1 g?kg -1?d -1,0.2 g?kg -1?d -1,0.4 g?kg -1?d -1) was taken orally by streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats for 12 wk. After the treatment, blood glucose, fructosamine and AGEs in plasma and kidney were measured. Meanwhile, glucose and bovine serum albumin (BSA) were incubated with TFBF at different concentrations (0.01 mg?L -1,0.05 mg?L -1,0.10 mg?L -1) respectively for 4,8,12 wk.The fluorescence intensity of glycated BSA was detected by a spectrophotometer BSA was detected spectrophotometer. Results TFBF significantly lowered the level of blood glucose in diabetic rats (P
