Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Wenyang Huayu Sanjie Decoction ( WHSD) for the treatment of adenomyosis with the syndrome of blood deficiency and cold stagnation. Methods Seventy qualified patients were evenly randomized into observation group and control group. The control group was treated with Mirena intrauterine contraceptive device, and the observation group was treated with WHSD ( composed of Danggui Sini San, Wuzhuyu Shengjiang Tang, Shixiao San and Rhizoma Sparganii, Rhizoma Curcumae). The clinical outcomes included the menstrual blood volume, menstrual cycle, menstruation, degrees of dysmenorrhea, uterine volume, and serum CA125 level in the two groups before treatment and 3, 6 months after treatment. Results ( 1) After treatment for 6 months, the total effective rate of the observation group was 94.29%, significantly higher than 85.71% in the control group ( P<0.05). ( 2) After treatment, dysmenorrheal degrees, menstrual blood volume, menstrual cycle, menstruation, uterine volume, and serum CA125 level were improved in both groups ( P<0.05) , and the observation group had better effect on relieving dysmenorrhea, improving menstruation, and decreasing CA125 level than the control group ( P<0.05). ( 3) No obvious adverse reaction was found in the observation group, but most of the cases in the control group had menstrual disorder such as vaginal irregular bleeding and prolongation of menstruation. Conclusion WHSD has certain therapeutic effect on adenomyosis with the syndrome of blood deficiency and cold stagnation, and can also obviously improve the quality of life of the patients.

Objective To detect differentially expressed genes in prostate cancer by cDNA microarray. Methods Total RNA was isolated by one step protocol from prostate cancer (CaP) and from normal prostate, and Poly(A) +RNA was further purified through Oligitex mRNA Midi Kit.Then it was analysed for differentially expressed genes in CaP and normal prostate by cDNA microarray with 4 096 human genes. Results There were 341 differentially expressed genes between CaP and normal prostate,of which there were 128 down regulated and 213 up regulated ones for CaP. Among these genes,15 were the most significant with 6 down regulated and 9 up regulated. Conclusions cDNA microarray can be used effectively to find out differentially expressed genes in prostate cancer which is not regulated by any single gene. Many different kinds of genes are involved in the initiation and evolution of CaP carcinogenisis.

Syncope and epilepsy are common pediatric clinical symptoms and causes of paroxysmal loss of consciousness. They can be manifested as a sudden attack, transient and reversible loss of consciousness, easily leading to misdiagnosis in clinics. The etiology and pathogenesis of syncope and epilepsy are completely different, and the principle of treatment is also different. Therefore,in clinics, making an early diagnosis and differential diagnosis between syncope and epilepsy has an important significance to improve the treatment and the prognosis of the patients.

Objective To investigate the impact of rheumatoid arthritis (RA)-associated HLA-DRβ1*0401,*0402,*0403 and*0404 subtypes on protein kinase A (PKA) signaling. Methods To detect the activities of adenylate cyclase (AC), cAMP and PKA in transfectants expressing rheumatoid arthritis-associated HLA-DRβ1 subtypes and their mutants. Results The levels of AC, cAMP and PKA of HLA-DRβ1*0401 and*0404 transfectants were significant lower than that of HLA-DRβ1*0402 and*0403 transfectants (P<0.01). The mutant HLA-DRβ1*0403 tranfectants expressing DRRAE or QRRAA secreted lower levels of PKA, cAMP and AC (P<0.01). Conclusion RA-associated HLA-DRβ1*0401 and*0404 expression suppressed intracelluar PKA signaling pathway, and may mediate abnormal intracellular signaling in rheumatoid arthritis.

Objective:To investigate the possibility and feasibility of the simultaneous coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) with tumor excision in patients suffering from tumor combined with coronary artery disease(CAD). Methods:From August 2000 to July 2006, ten patients who were suspected of tumor (four patients suffered from urinary system tumor, two digestive system tumor, and four pulmonary tumor) with coronary artery disease were successfully treated by simultaneous surgeries. Surgical incisions were chose by the different tumor position. All carried on the CABG before tumor excision except one case. The two cases had cardiopulmonary bypass CABG, the rest eight had off-pump CABG. Follow-up was conducted after operation. Results:The combined operations were satisfied. There was no in-hospital mortality, no postoperative hemorrhage, no myocardial ischemia or infarction, with few complications. Postoperative in-hospital stay was 10-34 days, average 22.4 days. All discharged in cure. One patient lost the follow-up. Nine patients were followed up from six months to seven years three months. Two patients died from metastasis, and the others survived with satisfied follow-up without cardiovascular events. Conclusion:The simultaneous coronary artery bypass grafting with tumor excision for patients who suffer from either CAD with benign or malignant tumor is safe and feasible with satisfied short-and long-term survival.

Global Health Journal 2019;3(3):55-59
This article provides an overview of the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) epidemics in mainland China and of what we have learned since the outbreak. The epidemics spanned a large geographical extent but clustered in two regions:first in Guangdong Province, and about 3 months later in Beijing and its surrounding areas. The resulting case fatality ratio of 6.4% was less than half of that in other SARS-affected countries and regions, partly due to younger-aged patients and a higher proportion of community-acquired infections.Strong political commitment and a centrally coordinated response were most important for controlling SARS.The long-term economic consequence of the epidemic was limited. Many recovered patients suffered from avascular osteonecrosis,as a consequence of corticosteroid usage during their infection. The SARS epidemic provided valuable experience and lessons relevant in controlling outbreaks of emerging infectious diseases, and has led to fundamental reforms of the Chinese health system.Additionally, the epidemic has substantially improved infrastructures, surveillance systems, and capacity to response to health emergencies. In particular,a comprehensive nationwide internet-based disease reporting system was established.
