AIM: To investigate the serum levels of interleeukin-6(IL-6), interleukin-8(IL-8), tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-?) and soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1)in female patients with pre-menstruation recurrent aphthous ulceration(RAU). METHODS: Serum levels of IL-6,IL-8,TNF-? and sICAM-1 in 21 pre-menstruation RAU patients were examined using ELISA technique, and compared to 10 healthy individuals and 22 the female RAU patients unrelated to menstrual cycle. Objective:To study the extraction for the curculigoside and polysaccharide of Rhizoma Curculiginis. Methods: The optimum extraction was selected by the orthogonal design. The content of total curculigoside was determined by HPLC, The content of polysaccharide of Rhizoma Curculiginis was determined by spetrophotometry.Results: The extraction times affected significantly total curculigoside and Polysaccharide of Rhizoma Curculiginis. Conclusion: The optimum extraction is as follows: adding 8 times amount of water into Chinese medical materials, and boiling for 90 min each time, extracting three times in all.

Objective The purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility of short tandem repeat(STR) genotyping of cell free DNA in plasma for individual identification and paternity testing. Methods EDTA-Na2 DNA anti-coagulant blood samples were collected from 36 unrelated healthy volunteers,and both DNA in leukocytes and cell free DNA in plasma were extracted respectively using phenol-chloroform method. Target DNA in blood cells and plasma were amplified using regular STR typing and fluorescent multiplex STR assay separately,accordingly,the PCR products were analyzed by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and capillary electrophoresis. Results Using either normal PCR-STR or fluorescent multiplex STR assay,the consistent STR genotyping results were detected with similar efficiency for cell DNA and plasma DNA samples from the same individual. Conclusion Cell free DNA in plasma samples can be used as useful biological samples for STR genotyping,which can be applied to individual identification and paternity testing in forensic practice.

Obiective To elaborate the application of PCT/CT orientation Gamma Knife in the body.Methods From May, 2007 to May, 2008, PET/CT equipment was used on 120 cases with gamma knife body positioning and image fusion, Re-sults The PET/CT scan may not have iodine in the contrast agent to enhance the effective conduct of tumor imaging and CT position provides more simple and more accurate image information to guide target(GTV) of the outline. Conclusion The PET/CT in the gamma knife treatment can improve in the positioning accuracy of GIN, and improve treatment opportunity for iodine allergy patients.

Objective To observe the effect of rosiglitazone on the concentration of interlukin (IL)-6 and IL-10 in lung tissues of diabetic rats.Methods The experimental diabetic rats were yielded by injecting streptozotocin(STZ) and feeding with high fat and high glucose food.We observed lung morphology in control group,diabetes mellitus(DM) group,and rosiglitazone group at 10 week and 20 week respectively under light microscope.Alteration of IL-6 and IL-10 in lung was measured by immunohistochemistry.Results The optical density values of IL-6 in the control group,the DM group and the roggerosiglitazone treatment group were 0.15 ±0.01,0.16 ±0.01;0.22 ±0.02,0.31 ±0.04;0.22 ±0.03,and 0.20 ±0.02 at 10 week and 20 week respectively (Fwithin =216.89,P ＜ 0.01 ; Fbetween =342.62,P ＜ 0.01 ; Finteraction =341.51,P ＜ 0.01).Any two groups had significant difference(P ＜ 0.05) except the comparison of the IL-6 values at 10 week and 20 week in the control group (P ＞ 0.05).The absorbance values of IL-10 in the three groups were 0.13 ± 0.01,0.15 ±0.02;0.20 ±0.01,0.21 ±0.01;0.20 ±0.02,and 0.17 ±0.01 at 10 week and 20 week respectively (Fwithin =14.612,P ＜0.01 ;Fbetween =909.19,P ＜0.01 ;Finteraction =210.55,P ＜0.01).Any two groups had significant difference(P ＜0.05) except the comparison of the IL-6 values at 10 week and 20 week in the control group.Conclusion The elevated levels of IL-6 and IL-10 in lung tissue of dibtetic rats might be related to the inflammation of lung tissues.Rosiglitazone may alleviate lung inflammation by regulating the levels of IL-6 and IL-10.

To introduce tutorial system for undergraduate in the forensic biology teaching is an important measure of educational reform of forensic medicine.The article presented some schemes and experiences about the practice of tutorial system for undergraduate in the forensic biology department of Kunming Medical College.

AIM:To evaluate the effect of basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF)on the expression of cyclin D1,growth arrest,DNA damage inducible gene 153(GADD153),and its roles involved in cell cycle regulation and DNA repair in starvation-induced ovarian cancer CAOV3 cells apoptosis.METHODS:Apoptosis of ovarian cancer CAOV3 cells was induced by serum-free culture(starvation).After bFGF treatment,the cell proliferation rate,cell cycle and apoptosis were determined by MTT,FACS analysis and agarose electrophoresis,respectively.The expression of c-Fos,c-Jun and cyclin D1,GADD153 were detected by Western blotting.RESULTS:bFGF increased the cell proliferation and prevented starvation-induced cell apoptosis.In a time-dependent manner,bFGF induced the expression of c-Fos,c-Jun and cyclin D1 and inhibited GADD153.CONCLUSION:bFGF plays a critical role in anti-apoptosis and the proliferation in human ovarian cancer by upregulating the expression of c-Fos,c-Jun and cyclin D1 and inhibiting GADD153.

Objective To study and develop the whole blood red cell lysing reagents in order to replace the commercial kit and reduce the cost.Methods Flow cytometry was used to compare the home-made red cell lysing reagents with the commercial kit on the separation of white cells into three groups,on the ratio of lymphocyte subsets and on the mean fluorescence intensity(MFI)of lymphocyte subsets.Results Compared with the commercial kit,the home-made lysing reagents had no significant difference on the separation of white cells into three groups,on the ratio of lymphocyte subsets and on the MFI of T lymphocytes,B lymphocytes,Helper-Inducer T-lymphocytes and Suppressor-Cytotoxic T-lymphocytes.Conclusions The home-made lysing reagents had similar effects as the commercial kit on the separation of white cells,on the ratio of lymphocyte subsets and on the MFI of T lymphocytes,B lymphocytes,Helper-Inducer T-Lymphocytes and Suppressor-Cytotoxic T-lymphocytes,but the cost is much lower.
