AIM:To study the effect of levofloxacin(LVFX)on serum concentrations and pharmacokinetics of phenytoin sodium(PHT)in rabbits.METHODS:Using UV-spectrophotometry,the serum concentrations of PHT were determined in nine rabbits before oral feeding LVFS and after a single dose of PHT given iv 10 days later.The pharmacokinetic parameters were worked out with 3p87 program.RESULTS:The concentration-time curve of PHT was fit to open two-compartment model.After co-administration of LVFX,the serum concentrations of PHT were decreased to some extent and part of pharmacokinetic parameters obviously changed as well.CONCLUSION:Co-administration of PHT and LVFX will accelerate the metabolic process of PHT.

RESULTS & CONCLUSIONS:Drug price policy of China is the one of key factor for the current medical market disorder, the formulation of which should be based on national condition and under governmental control.

The activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD) in the preven tive group was higher than in the alloxan group. The morphological observation of ? cells confirmed that coixan could markedly prevent ? cells from injury induced by alloxan and there was no obvious change in the appearance of islet ? cells in the preventive group. CONCLUSION Coixan markedly prevents ? cells from injury induced by alloxan.

OBJECTIVE: To establish an RP-HPLC method for the determination of aminophylline,eyhedrine and guaifenesin in Xiaoer kechuan oral solution.METHODS: The determination was performed on Hypersil ODS column(150 mm?4.6 mm,5 ?m).The mobile phase consisted of acetonitrile-0.015 mol?L-1 KH2PO4(0.1% triethylamine and pH value of phosphoric acid adjusted to 2.7)(10 ∶ 90) with a flow rate of 1.6 mL?min-1 and detection wavelength of 254 nm and 209 nm.RESULTS: The linear ranges were 356.4～712.8 ?g?mL-1 for aminophylline,88～176 ?g?mL-1 for eyhedrine and 106～212 ?g?mL-1 for guaifenesin(r=0.999 9).The average recovery rates were 101.0%(RSD=0.73%,n=9),99.7%(RSD=1.00%,n=9),98.3%(RSD=0.44%,n=9),respectively.CONCLUSIONS:The method is simple and accurate for quality control of Xiaoer kechuan oral solution.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the possible role of Caspase 3 and Bcl - 2 in arsenic trioxide(As2 O3) - induced apoptosis of Namalwa cell line .METHODS: Cell apoptosis was assessed through agarose gel elecrophroresis and the double staining of Annexin V and propidium iodide(PI), of which fluorescent intensities were measured on flow cytometer.Namalwa cells were treated with As2 O3 and DEVD - CHO, a selective inhibitor of Caspase 3,and the changes of expression of Caspase 3 and Bcl - 2 were observed .RESULTS: As2 O3 up - regulated Caspase 3 protein and down - regulated Bcl - 2 protein. DEVD-CHO inhibited the apoptosis induced by As2O3. but it had no effect on down - regulation of Bcl - 2 protein induced by As2O3.CONCLUSION:The activation of Caspase 3 may play a role in mediating apoptosis induced by As2O3 in Namalwa cells.

OBJECTIVE:To analyze the utilization of drugs in children with ventricular septal defect(VSD) undergoing operation.METHODS:The medical orders of 120 VSD children patients in our hospital in 2005 were analyzed retrospectively.RESULTS:The per capita drug cost was(3 067.20? 325.04) yuan,accounting for 9.52% of the total medical cost.Circulatory system drugs and antibiotics were the chief categories.Leading the first 3 places in terms of DDDs were cefuroxime,vecuronium bromide and furosemide,respectively.CONCUSION:The drug cost for VSD children patients was relatively low and reasonable.

OBJECTIVE:To determine vitamin E in muyan capsule.METHODS:The content of vitamin E in muyan capsule was determined by first-derivative spectrophotometry with detection wavelength at 230nm.RESULTS:The linear range of vitamin E was 14.98 ～ 24.96? g? mL-1(r=0.999 8).The average recovery of vitamin E was 100.1%(RSD=0.26%).CONCLUSION:The method is simple,rapid and accurate,and applicable for the determination of vitamin in muyan capsule.
