Dental stem cells(DSCs)possess the characteristics of stem cells and can be effectively obtained from iatro-waste products (such as impacted wisdom tooth and the extracted teeth for orthodontic reason).It has been proved that DSCs are the important sources of stem cells for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine research.Research of these stem cells will create broader space for tissue engi-neering and regenerative medicine and will have important values in translational research.This review gives an overview of the research pro-gress of dental stem cells,and presents some new findings of several common dental stem cells as well as the application in tissue regenera-tion.

Ballistocardiogram (BCG) signal is a physiological signal, reflecting heart mechanical status. It can be measured without any electrodes touching subject's body surface and can realize physiological monitoring ubiquitously. However, BCG signal is so weak that it would often be interferred by superimposed noises. For measuring BCG signal effectively, we proposed an approach using joint time-frequency distribution and empirical mode decomposition (EMD) for BCG signal denoising. We set up an adaptive optimal kernel for BCG signal and extracted BCG signals components using it. Then we de-noised the BCG signal by combing empirical mode decomposition with it. Simulation results showed that the proposed method overcome the shortcomings of empirical mode decomposition for the signals with identical frequency content at different times, realized the filtering for BCG signal and also reconstructed the characteristics of BCG.

The QCC campaign at the emergency center was themed as minimizing incidence of risky transport of critically ill patients,which aimed at continued quality improvement by means of conditions review,problem analysis,measures making,and procedure improvement.The incidence of risky transports dropped from 26％ to 0.9％ in six months.Another promising outcome was a sharp betterment of clinical nurse management. It has proved that QCC can effectively downsize risky transports of critically ill patients,making it a functional means to improve nursing quality.

Objective To probe into the strategies for improving the accessibility to orphan drugs for patients of rare diseases in China. Methods Analysis of typical cases of orphan drug use in recent years in China, interviews of hospital administrators and clinical doctors, and analysis of the present health insurance policies in China for orphan drugs, definition of the concept of drug accessibility, clarification of the factors hindering orphan drug accessibility. Results Four factors are found to hinder orphan drug accessibility in such aspects of science and technology, supply, information transfer and medical assurance in China's medicine and healthcare system. These subjective and objective factors affect drug accessibility of the patients of rare diseases, denying them of drug accessibility, of drug use in time, and of affordability of such drugs. Conclusion To raise the orphan drug accessibility in China, it is necessary to define basic concepts and incentive mechanism of rare diseases and orphan drug, design and raise the response mechanism of the medicine and health system in orphan drug supply, build a three dimensional cooperation model between such parties as the government, enterprise and patient, and reduce patients' economic burdern.

Objective:To investigate the mechanism of the reversal effect of acupuncture on the fall of blood pressure induced by angiotensin-(1-7)[Ang-(1-7)] in the caudal ventrolateral medulla(CVLM) of rats. Methods: Ang-(1-7) and its selective receptor antagonist (D-Ala7), Ang-(1-7) and Ang-(779) were microinjected into the CVLM respectively to induce the change of blood pressure, during which, the concentrations of amino acid neurotransmitters were detected by means of microdialysis and high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)combined with fluorescent detector, on the other hand, the effects of electro-acupuncture (EA) on the level of blood pressure and the concentrations of amino acid neurotransmitters were also observed. Results:Unilateral microinjection of Ang-(1-7) into the CVLM could decrease the blood pressure (BP), which was accompanied by an increase in the release of Glu and a decrease in the release of Tau in the same site; Whereas microinjection of Ang-779 into the CVLM could elevate BP, which was accompanied by a decrease in the release of Glu and an increase in the release of Tau; EA at acupoint Zusanli (ST 36) for 20 min could inhibit the fall of blood pressure induced by microinjection of Ang-(1-7) into the CVLM and the elevation of blood pressure induced by microinjection of Ang-779 into the CVLM, and in the meantime, it could inhibit the changes of the release of Glu and Tau induced by microinjection of Ang-(1-7) and Ang-779 into the CVLM. Conclusion: The reversal effect of EA on the fall or elevation of blood pressure induced by microinjection of Ang-(1-7) or Ang-779 into the CVLM might be related to the changes of Glu and Tau release.

Objective To observe the expression changes of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT),brainderived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in rats with chronic manganism.Methods Sixty healthy male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into control group (n =15) and experimental group (n =45).The experimental group was divided into three subgroups:low-dose group (n =15),middle-dose group (n =15),high-dose group (n =15).The rats in control group were given intraperitoneal injection of normal saline while the rats in low-dose group,middle-dose group,high-dose group were given intraperitoneal injection of 5 mg/kg,15 mg/kg and 25 mg/kg manganese chloride tetrahydrate,respectively for 5 days oncea week and lasted for 12 weeks.The depressive behavior changes of rats were observed by sucrose preference test and open field test.The concentrations of manganese in the striatum of rats were detected by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry.The expression of 5-HT in frontal cortex,hippocampus of rats was determined by high performance liquid chromatography.The expression of BDNF in frontal cortex,hippocampus of rats was examined by Western blotting.The expression of BDNF mRNA was detected using real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction.Results The chronic manganese poisoning rats presented depression-like behavior based on the sucrose preference test and open field test,which was more distinct in high-dose rats.As compared with the control group (frontal cortex (459.65 ± 16.81) ng/g,hippocampus (323.92 ± 17.41) ng/g;tissue wet weight),the expressions of 5-HT were significantly decreased in frontal cortex ((423.45 ± 17.19) ng/g,(376.89 ± 18.87) ng/g,(280.17 ± 25.46) ng/g),hippocampus ((265.71 ± 17.89) ng/g,(214.35 ±23.63) ng/g,(172.67 ± 18.24) ng/g) of the experimental group (F =132.68,69.66,both P ＜ 0.05).As compared with the control group (frontal cortex 0.962 ±0.111,hippocampus 0.873 ± 0.101;the expressions of BDNF were significantly decreased in frontal cortex (0.855 ± 0.106,0.649 ± 0.112,0.506 ± 0.121) and hippocampus (0.731 ± 0.092,0.626 ±0.104,0.544 ± 0.113) with the increasing concentration of MnCl2 which showed dose dependence (F =13.26,18.54,both P ＜ 0.05).As compared with the control group (frontal cortex 0.000 87 ± 0.000 07,hippocampus 0.000 82 ± 0.000 09),the expressions of BDNF mRNA were decreased significantly in frontal cortex (0.000 71 ± 0.000 06,0.000 48 ± 0.000 03,0.000 36 ± 0.000 03) and hippocampus (0.000 57 ± 0.000 05,0.000 49 ± 0.000 04,0.000 38 ± 0.000 05) in the treated group with the increasing concentration of manganese (F =18.46,12.76,both P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Rats with chronic manganese poisoning could present depression-like behavior and the expression of 5-HT and BDNF is decreased in the frontal cortex and hippocampus with the increased accumulation of manganese.
