Objective To investigate the treatment effect of recombinant bovine basic fibroblast growth factor (rb-bFGF) in patients with gingivitis and its influence on gingival sulcus bleeding index. Methods Sixty-eight patients with gingivitis treated in our hospital were randomly divided into control group (34 cases) and observation group (34 cases). The control group were given basic periodontal therapy, while the observation group were treated with rb-bFGF. The clinical effects, gingival sulcus bleeding index (SBI) before and after treatment, and the recurrence were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the total effective rate (97.06%) of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (70.59%), the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The SBI of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group at 1 and 2 weeks after treatment (P<0.05). The recurrence rate of the observation group (5.88%) was significantly lower than that of the control group (23.53%) (P<0.05). The incidence of complications such as pain, periodontal abscess, bromopnea and loosening was significantly lower in the observation group (8.82%) than in the control group (32.35%). The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion After rb-bFGF treatment, the symptoms of toothache and gingival swelling disappear, normal function of teeth is restored, gingival sulcus bleeding improves significantly, with fewer adverse reactions and obvious clinical effect.

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of endovascular embolization for the treatment of cerebellar arteriouvenous malformations (AVMs) associated with aneurysm, and to discuss its technical points. Methods The clinical data of 142 patients with cerebellar AVMs were retrospectively analyzed. Of the 142 patients, 42 had concomitant aneurysms. The patients were divided into concomitant aneurysm group and without aneurysm group. Using univariate and multivariate statistical models, the patient’s gender and age, the presence or absence of hemorrhage, the lesion’s location and size, and the presence or absence of deep venous drainage were analyzed. Results A total of 61 concomitant aneurysms were detected in the 42 patients, which were located within the malformation mass (n=14) or on the feeding artery (n=47). The concomitant aneurysms located in the malformation were closely related to AVM hemorrhage and the deep venous drainage. During the follow-up period after endovascular embolization, no recurrence of bleeding was observed in all the 42 patients. Conclusion In order to reduce the relapse rate of hemorrhage, the formulation of therapeutic measures should be based on the management of the concomitant aneurysm when endovascular embolization treatment is employed for AVM associated with aneurysm.

In traditional biomedical research, a series of mechanism and measures had been taken for identity protection of data subjects, such as data disclosure in aggregated methods, information restricted in public only after identified variables removal and etc. The purpose of such process was aimed to properly keep confidentiality of health information for the target subjects in research. As the protection of subject privacy was viewed as one of the most essential principle of medical ethics in human research, the effects to fulfill and accomplish such process can help to maintain the trust and support among participants and social public. Currently, such traditional modes of privacy safeguard are widely-applied in genetics and genomics study. However, the universal applicability also causes a number of controversies, and the effectiveness remains to be proven. Nowadays, the risk assessments of data subjects’ privacy call for taking the whole“data context” into consideration, not just self-restricted in isolation and confined to quality control of data disclosure. With the soaring increasing of data resources in research involved human subjects, the issues of releasing genetic data have caused more and more public attention, especially for the sensitive domains of privacy protection. Based on the core problem and principles, this article attempted to discuss the controversial bioethical issues such as data context, data-intruder concept, privacy of data subject, identity control of releasing data, potential risk of individual identification, privacy protection of data subject, and etc. We hope these considerations can provide references to the bioethical understanding of biobanks research and decision-making of ethic review.

BACKGROUND:Bone mesenchymal stem cells have immunological regulation function both in vitro and in vivo, while the effect of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells on CD4+T cellimmune function in patients receiving kidney transplantation remains unclear. OBJECTIVE:To explore the monitoring significance of CD4+T-cellimmune function by ImmuKnow assay and to determine the effect of induction therapy with bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells on cellimmune function in patients receiving kidney transplantation. METHODS:From January 2011 to June 2013, 24 patients receiving al ograft renal transplantation with autologous bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells were included and another 48 patients receiving al ograft renal transplantation and Simulect induction therapy with various matched preoperative characters served as controls. In both groups, adenosine triphosphate levels in CD4+T cells in the peripheral blood were determined by the ImmuKnow assay preoperatively and at 14, 30, 60, 90, 180 days postoperatively, as wel as during acute rejection and infection episodes. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:During the 180 days postoperatively, fewer patients in the bone marrow mesenchymal stem cellgroup had acute rejection and injection than the Simulect group, but no significant differences were observed. Postoperative adenosine triphosphate levels in CD4+T cells were significantly lower than those determined preoperatively in both groups (P<0.05), while no significant differences were observed between the two groups. A total of 12 patients in the bone marrow mesenchymal stem cellgroup and 26 patients in the Simulect group had infection episodes, and the adenosine triphosphate levels in CD4+T cells during the infection episodes were lower than clinical stable patients in both groups (P<0.01). For patients receiving renal transplantation, induction therapy with bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells can effectively decrease the cellimmune function, which can be reflected by the adenosine triphosphate levels in CD4+T cells in the peripheral blood determined by the ImmuKnow assay.
8.Research progress in treatment of Essex-Lopresti lesion
Chinese Journal of Trauma 2018;34(6):569-572
The Essex-Lopresti lesion is characterized by a fracture of the radial head with concomitant rupture of the interosseous membrane and disruption of the distal radioulnar joint. The EssexLopresti lesion is rare and serious, easily subject to missed diagnosis. However, all sorts of therapeutic methods can only yield poor results for chronic Essex-Lopresti lesion. Therefore, early and accurate diagnosis is crucial. The key to treat acute Essex-Lopresti lesion is the reconstruction of radial head and restoration of radius length, preventing the proximal move of radius. At the same time, the distal radioulnar joint should be reset and stablized, and the triangular fibrocartilage complex(TFCC) repaired, so as to restore the normal anatomic relation between radiu and ulna and to reconstruct forearm longitudinal stability. Further studies are needed on whether the forearm interosseous membrane needs repair as well as on repair method selection. The author reviews the Essex-Lopresti injury treatment methods in order to facilitate better clinical treatment.
9.Research progress in treatment of comminuted radial head fractures
Chinese Journal of Trauma 2018;34(8):764-768
Radial head fracture accounts for one third of the elbow joint fracture. At present, for fractures without obvious displacement, non operative treatment can achieve good results. In the case of complicated comminuted fracture of the radial head, open reduction with internal fixation and the radial head replacement have their own advantages and disadvantages. There is no exact reference for the selection of surgical procedures, and the best treatment regimen remains controversial. No matter which method is adopted,it is necessary to repair accompanied injuries.Meanwhile, postoperative standard rehabilitation exercise is also essential for the recovery of elbow function. The typing of radial head comminuted fracture and the status quo of its treatment is reviewed in this paper,so as to provide reference for better clinical treatment.
