BACKGROUND:Traditional Chinese medicine glossoscopy observes tongue image by vision,and to diagnose diseases by physicians'clinical experiences,which lacks of objective diagnostic methods and criteria;finally resulting in affecting the effectiveness of this diagnostic method.Therefore,it is necessary to realize quantitive and objective glossoscopy using techniques such as computer vision.Tongue body segmentation is the premise of the tongue image recognition diagnostic system.The quality of segmentation directly affects the sequent work.At present,there are many methods of tongue body segmentation,but obtained results cannot ensure the accuracy,and the anti-interference ability is poor.OBJECTIVE:To design a new method of tongue image segmentation,and effectively isolate tongue body.METHODS:According to tongue-images gray and color's features,a segmentation method of combining gray projection and threshold-adaptive way is presented in this paper.By this method,the intensity image of a colorful tongue-image is firstly projected at horizontal and vertical direction to locate the tongue-body area,and then threshold-adaptive way Otsu is used to segment the located area.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Tongue-body segmentation is the basis of automatic tongue-images analysis.The following 281 tongue-images segmentation experiments show the efficiency of this method.

Objective To evaluate the role of angiocadiography(ACG)in the diagnosis and management of complex/complicated congenital heart disease(CHD).Methods A retrospective study of ACG findings in 360 cases with complex/complicated CHD was performed with a comparision to that of echocardiography(Echo)and related clinical examination.Results The present series of CHD cases included pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect in 75 cases,double outlet of right ventricle in 62 cases,Fallot's tetralogy in 60 cases,single ventricle in 52 cases,transposition of the great arteries in 42 cases,tricuspid valve atresia in 15 cases,coronary abnormality in 6 cases,total abnormal pulmonary venous connection in 5 cases,total endocardial cushion defect in 5 cases,persistent truncus arteriosus in 4 cases,pulmonary atresia with normal ventricular septum in 3 cases,other disorders in 7 cases,and postsurgical operation in 24 cases.ACG was superior to that of Echo in demonstrating the abnormalities of systemic,pulmonary,and coronary arteries and their branches of complex/complicated CHD as well as measuring the pressure of pulmonary artery,vein,and systemic-pulmonary collateral vessels.Conclusion In the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of knotty cases with complex and complicated CHD,particularly in the demonstration of full view of systemic,pulmonary,and coronary arterial branches and accurate measurement of pulmonary arterial pressure/resistance,and atrial,ventricular,and systemic arterial pressure,ACG(including DSA)still plays an important and irreplaceable role.

OBJECTIVE: To study protective and therapeutic effects of metformin on nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH) in rats. METHODS:40 SD rats were randomized into control,model,nicotinic acid,metformin group(n=10). In the book of Chinese Acupuncture and Moxibustion by CHENG Dan-an, direct moxibustion with moxa cone was regarded as a classic style of moxibustion because of its innate character of heat induced thermal stimulus and burn toxin. CHENG Dan-an made the quantity of moxibustion more controllable through the selection of moxa wool, the size and number of moxa cones, and the tightness of moxa cones, etc. CHENG Dan-an 's clinical experience is summarized through treating stubborn and infectious diseases with direct moxibustion with moxa cone. The results showed that only with understanding the characteristics of moxibustion and key pathological mechanism of suitable disease could direct moxibustion with moxa cone and the appropriate methods be performed correctly. CHENG Dan-an confirmed the clinical effect of treating stubborn and intectious diseases with direct contact moxibustion with moxa cone, and optimized the specific operation scheme of direct moxibustion with moxa cone. It tell us that we should deeply study on moxibustion, to make it wide spread in the hereafter, bring benefit to mankind.

Objective:To observe different effects of moxibustion at Zusanli (ST 36) and Yanglingquan (GB 34) on electrogastrogram (EGG) of patients with functional dyspepsia (FD). Methods:A total of 65 cases were randomized into a Zusanli (ST 36) group (n=33) and a Yanglingquan (GB 34) group (n=32) by random serial number, to receive moxibustion therapy to the corresponding point respectively. The 8-lead EGG was used before and after treatment to collect EGG parameter of the gastric body, antrum of stomach, lesser curvature and greater curvature, including the dominant frequency, slow wave percentage, average frequency, response area and motility index. Results:After treatment, the dominant frequency and slow wave percentage were improved in nearly the whole stomach area in Zusanli (ST 36) group, showing statistical significances (bothP<0.05); the slow wave percentage and average frequency were improved in stomach body and antrum of stomach in Yanglingquan (GB 34) group, showing statistical significances (bothP<0.05); moxibustion at Zusanli (ST 36) had a significantly higher influence on EGG than Yanglingquan (GB 34) , in which the lifting of slow wave percentage was significantly higher than Yanglingquan (GB 34) group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Moxibustion at Zusanli (ST 36) and Yanglingquan (GB 34) has the effect of adjusting abnormal EGG pattern in FD patients. Compared with Yanglingquan (GB 34), Zusanli (ST 36) has a superior effect in improving EGG in stomach area.
