The Journal of Practical Medicine 2014;(7):1091-1093
Objective To investigate the impact of methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene polymorphism on folicacid for lowering plasma level of homocysteine in elderly patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). Methods In the first affiliated hospital of Zhengzhou university,a total of 180 elderly patients with CHD were randomized to two groups. The study group (91 ptients) received folicacid 5mg once daily and the control group (89 patients) received no folic acid. 8 weeks after treatment, the changes in plasma Hcy were observed and analyzed by MTHFR genotypes (TT vs. CC vs. CT). Results Plasma Hcy of the three genotypes had a statistical significance at the baseline (P<0.001), among which plasma Hcy level was the hightest in patients with genotype TT, while it had on difference in genotypes CC and CT (P = 0.057). 8 weeks after treatment, plasma Hcy level declined up to 24%in the patients with genotype TT in the study group, while it decreased about 6%and 15%in patients with genotype CC or CT, separately. Hcy level was slightly decreased in the patients with genotype CC, CT, or TT in the control group. Conclusions Plasma Hcy level differs statistically in three genotypes, and it is the highest in genotyp TT. Folicacid can effectively lower the level of plasma Hcy in elderly patients with CHD, especially those with genotype TT.

OBJECTIVETo verify the clinical efficacy on chronic fatigue syndrome of qi deficiency syndrome treated with acupuncture at selective time and explore the effect mechanism.
METHODSEighty patients were randomized into a selective-time-acupuncture group and an acupuncture group, 40 cases in each one. Qihai (CV 6), Guanyuan (CV 4), Hegu (LI 4), Taichong (LR 3), Sanyinjiao (SP 6) and Zusanli (ST 36) were selected in the two groups. In the selective-time-acupuncture group, acupuncture was used at 9:00am to 11:00am. In the acupuncture group, acupuncture was used at any time except in the range from 9:00am to 11:00am. No any manipulation was applied after the arrival of needling sensation. The treatment was given once every day, 10 day treatment made one session and two sessions of treatment were required. The fatigue scale was adopted to evaluate the efficacy before and after treatment in the patients of the two groups. The ratios among CD3+, CD4+ and CD8+ T cells in the peripheral blood were detected before ad b a after treatment.
RESULTSIn the acupuncture group, the total score of fatigue and the score of physical fatigue were reduced after treatment as compared with those before treatment (all P<0.05). In the selective-time -acupuncture group, the total score of fatigue, the s core of physical fatigue and the score of mental fatigue after treatment were reduced obviously as compared with those hefore treatment (all P<0. 01). The improvements in the scores of the selective-time-acupuncture group were superior to the acupuncture group (all P<0. 05). The ratio of CD3+ and CD8+ T cells was increased obviously after treatment in the two groups (all P<0. 05) and the ratio of CD4+ and CD8+ T cells was reduced obviously in the selective-time-acupuncture group (P<0. 05), which was better than that in the acupuncture group (all P<0.05). The total effective rate was 95.0% (38/40) in the selective-time-acupuncture group, which was better than 80.0% (32/40) in the acupuncture group (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe acupuncture therapy at selective time is effective in the treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome of qi deficiency syndrome, which is especially better at relieving mental fatigue. The effect of this therapy is achieved probably by improving the immune function via the regulation of the ratios among CD3+, CD4+ and CD8+ T cells.

AIM: To observe the effect of intraocular lens ( IOL) implantation on visual acuity and contrast sensitivity in patients with cataract.
METHODS: Fifty - eight cases ( 72 eyes ) cataract patients with regular cornel astigmatism, in our hospital from May 2014 to May 2015 were randomly divided into two groups to undergo phacoemulsification and IOL implantation: the observation group: 29 cases (36 eyes) received multifocal toric IOL implantation; the control group: 29 cases (36 eyes) received monofocal toric IOL implantation. Uncorrected distance visual acuity ( UCDVA), uncorrected near visual acuity ( UCNVA), best corrected distance visual acuity (BCDVA), the best corrected near visual acuity ( BCNVA ), total eye astigmatism, and the dark contrast sensitivity were observed for these patients at 1 and 6mo after cataract surgery.
RESULTS: There were no statistical significant difference between the two groups at postoperative 1, 6mo on UCDVA, BCNVA, BCDVA and total eye astigmatism(P>0. 05). UCNVA of observation group at 1 and 6mo were better than those of control group ( P <0. 05); there were statistically significant difference in high frequency comparison at the sixth postoperative months (P<0. 05).
CONCLUSION: Both monofocal toric IOL implantation, and aspheric multifocal toric IOL implantation for cataract with regular corneal astigmatism are effective to improve visual acuity. But the latter treatment would contribute to the improvement of uncorrected near visual acuity and the dark contrast sensitivity.

Objective To investigate the relationship between the polymorphism of the tumor necrosis factor-αgene-308 promoter and bronchial asthma (BA)in Uighur and Kazakh population in Xinjiang. Methods PCR product sequencing method was used to detect the polymorphism distribution of TNF-αgene in 60 BA patients and 60 controls among Xinjiang Uighur and Kazakh population. Then we analyzed the association between different TNF-αgenotypes and BA in Uighur and Kazakh population. Results The distribution of GG,GA and AA genotype was significantly different between the two groups.Statistical analysis showed that BA group had a significantly higher TNF-αA allele frequency than that of the control one (P <0.05).After adjustment for sex and age,we found the A allele was a risk factor for BA pathogenesis (P <0.05).Conclusion The polymorphism of TNF-α gene-308 may be associated with the susceptibility to BA in Xinjiang Uighur and Kazakh population,so TNF-α gene-308 may be considered as a genetic marker for early identification of individuals at high risk for BA,which may play an important role in preventing the development of BA in clinical practice.

BACKGROUND: The artificial supported lipid bilayer membrane is the most similar in vitro biomimetic model of the cell membrane. The artificial high-quality lipid bilayer membrane will provide a critical tool for the study of the microstructure of biological membranes, cell signal transduction, biofilm sensors and drug carriers.OBJECTIVE: To explore the optimal preparation conditions of the lipid bilayer membrane with uniform surface and high mobility and its detection indexes.METHODS: By thin film extrusion, liposomes were filtrated 10 times through the filter membrane with the pore diameter of 0.1 and 0.2 μm respectively, with the unfiltered sample as control. The root mean squared roughness of lipid bilayer membrane was detected by atomic force microscopy to explore the optimal pore diameter of the filter membrane for preparation of the lipid bilayer membrane with high uniformity. 160 μL egg-PC (10 g/L) and 5, 10 or 25 μL NBD-PC were mixed separately. The mobility of lipid bilayer membrane was detected by fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) to explore the optimal proportion of egg-PC and NBD-PC.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The results of atomic force microscopy showed that the lipid bilayer membrane through the 0.1 μm filter membrane had the highest degree of uniformity (P <0.01), with the root mean squared roughness of(0.432±0.181) nm. By using the filter membrane whose pore diameter was greater than 0.1 μm, the surface uniformity of the lipid bilayer membrane was poor and there were more liposome vesicles on the surface. The FRAP results showed that the lipid bilayer membrane through the 0.1 μm filter membrane had a higher degree of fluorescence recovery. When 160 μL egg-PC (10 g/L) and 10 μL NBD-PC were mixed and filtrated through the 0.1 μm filter membrane, the degree of fluorescence recovery of the lipid bilayer membrane reached 90% and the diffusion coefficient was greater than 1 μm2/s which met the standard of high-quality lipid bilayer membrane. These results suggested the optimum ratio of egg-PC to NBD-PC and the optimum filter membrane pore size for preparation of the lipid bilayer membrane by thin film extrusion.

Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 2001;0(08):-
To explore the effects of brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) on hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy in neonatal rats,0 2, 0 5 or 2 0?g of BDNF was injected into cerebroventricles of 7d neonatal Sprague Dawley rats with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy by ligation of left common carotid artery and 2 5h inhalation of humidified 8% O 2 +92% N 2 at 37℃. Its effects on brain edema, levels of malondialehyde (MDA) and neuronal apoptosis at the left cortex and hippocampus were observed. The results showed that brain edema was markedly alleviated in 0 5?g group compared to the vehicle group 24h after BDNF injection. Levels of MDA in the left hemisphere in 2 0?g group were significantly higher than those in either vehicle group or 0 5?g group. Neuronal apoptosis decreased to a different extent in the three groups while obviously in both 0 2?g and 0 5?g groups. It is suggested that BDNF exerts a prominent protective effect on hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy in neonatal rats, but this effect is lowered when overdose is injected.
