Objective To quantitatively assess the left ventricular systolic dyssynchrony in patients with varied degrees of chronic congestive heart failure after old myocardial infarction(OMI) by real-time three-dimensional echocardiography(RT-3DE) and investigate the clinical value of the systolic dyssynchrony index(SDI). Methods Forty patients with congestive heart failure after OMI (infarction group) were divided into the severe dysfunction group (LVEF ≤35 %) and the mild dysfunction group (35 % < LVEF<50%) ,and 30 normal subjects served as the control. RT-3DE was performed on all subjects to obtain the 17-segmental time-volumetric curves and global systolic function. SDI changes in above groups and the correlation between SDI and LVEF were analyzed. Results The SDI of the infarction group was significantly higher than that of the normal control group ( P <0. 01 ). The SDI of the severe dysfunction group was significantly higher than that of the mild group (P<0.01). SDI and LVEF were negatively correlated ( r = -0.84, P <0. 01 ). The dyssynchrony rate in the infarction group was 85 %,in the severe dysfunction group was 100%, in the mild group was 75%. Conclusions Left ventricular systolic dyssynchrony is prevalent in patients with OMI, and it is negatively correlated with the LVEF. SDI is a sensitive indicator in assessing left ventricular systolic dyssynchrony. RT-3DE has a unique advantage in the evaluation of the left ventricular systolic dyssynchrony, especially in the patients with myocardial infarction.

ObjectiveTo explore the effects of the conjugate prepared from the cholera toxin B subunit(CB) and nerve growth factor(NGF) on the spatial learning and memory abilities and cholinergic function.MethodsThe conjugate of CB-NGF was prepared by the improved sodium metaperiodate method and nasally administrated to the β-amyloid protein(Aβ25-35) induced amnesic mice for 7 days with 2 dosage (7-5 μg/d、15 μg/d). Spatial learning and memory abilities were evaluated by Morris water maze and cholinergic function was assessed with the choline acetyl transferase (ChAT) immunohistochemical methods.ResultsMorris water maze test showed that the escape latency in Aβ25-35-treated mice prolonged and the staying time reduced in the crossed first quadrant where the platform had been located, compared with the control mice (P<0-01). In addition, the number of ChAT positive neuron declined in the model mice(P<0-001). CB-NGF nasal administration significantly shortened the escape latency and elevated the staying time and number of ChAT positive neuron(P<0-01).ConclusionCB-NGF treatment can improve the spatial and memory performance which may involve the neuroprotection to cholinergic system.

BACKGROUND:Angiotensin-converting enzyme as a key enzyme of the renin-angiotensin system, through the degradation effects of substance P mechanism, is involved in the occurrence and development of Alzheimer’s disease.
OBJECTIVE:To research the relationship between angiotensin-converting enzyme gene polymorphism and Alzheimer’s disease in Jiamusi region, as wel as the effect of gender and hypertension on the relationship.
METHODS:This case-control study included 96 Alzheimer’s disease patients. Another 102 subjects served as controls coming from the same area and in the same environmental condition. DNA segments were amplified using PCR in 20 g/L agarose gel electrophoresis and observed under ultraviolet lamp. II, ID, DD genotypes and genotype frequencies were calculated for statistical analysis. On this basis, according to clinical data col ected, we investigated association of Alzheimer’s disease with hypertension and gender.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:There was significant difference between Alzheimer’s disease patients and controls in angiotensin-converting enzyme genotypes and al ele frequency. There was statistical y significant difference between Alzheimer’s patients with hypertension and controls in angiotensin-converting enzyme genotypes and al ele frequency. There was no statistical difference between Alzheimer’s disease patients with different genders and controls in angiotensin-converting enzyme genotypes and al ele frequency. These findings indicate that there are some relationships between angiotensin-converting enzyme polymorphism and Alzheimer’s disease. II genotype is a risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease, angiotensin-converting enzyme II genotype is a risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease with hypertension.
