Objective To compare the differences between three kinds of reconstruction methods of the multi-planar spiral CT in diagnosing fractures of skull base , in order to appraise fractures of skull base in forensic medical examinations. Method 40 cases with suspicious basio-cranial fractures after cranio-cerebral trauma were examined by multi-planar spiral CT scanning. The data were imported into workstation for ax-ial scanning, multi-planar reconstruction (MPR) and 3D-reconstruction (using SSD). Objective To investigate the clinical effects of botulinum toxin A ( BTX-A) local injection treatment for hemifacial spasm .Methods Seventeen sites were used to inject BTX-A in 46 patients with hemifacial spasm . Before and after treatment , the grades of facial spasm were evaluated .Clinical efficacy was evaluated based on hemifacial spasm rating 4 weeks after treatment .The recurrence of symptoms in patients given repeated BTX-A injection.Results After BTX-A injection, 15 cases of completely relieved , obviously relieved in 29 cases, partial remission in 2 cases;the efficiency was 95.6%.The onset time was (2.6 ±1.1) d;sustained efficacy was (19.1 ± 2.3)weeks.Injection times was 1 in 5 cases, 2 in 23 cases, 3 in 11 cases and 4 or more in 7 cases.The onset time of repeated injection was(2.61 ±1.03) d, the duration was(19.24 ±2.12) weeks and the efficiency was 100%, They had no significant differences between initial and repeated injection .Six cases occurred local facial mild paralysis, and complete recovery after 2-4 weeks.Conclusion BTX-A local injection for hemifacial spasm is a safe and effective treatment , has no significant adverse reaction;and the effect of repeated injection is not decreased .

AIM: To optimize the parameters of processing for Arctium Lappa.METHODS: The contents of arctiin and arctigenin in Arctium Lappa were determined with HPLC,and the total yields of them were chosen as in-dex.The orthogonal test was adopted to acquire the optimum technology for processing Arctium Lappa.RESULTS: The study showed that the best processing parameters for Arctium Lappa consisted of 300 ℃ of the drying tempera-ture and 4-5 minutes of processing time.CONCLUSION: The processing method is reasonable,stable and reliable,and can be used in commercial production.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the application situation and tendency of antihypertensive drugs in our hospital. METHODS: By a retrospective study,a total of 952 prescriptions of outpatients with hypertension were sampled from our hospital from Nov. 18 to Dec. 17 in 2007 for statistical analysis regarding the utilization of antihypertensive drugs,the treatment regimens,sales amount,DDDs and DDC,etc. RESULTS: The antihypertensive drugs were mainly used in single or two kinds concomitantly. Calcium-channel blocker (CCB) and angiotensin receptor Ⅱ binders(ARB) took the lead,accounting for 30.67% and 28.45%,respectively. Leading the first three places on the list of DDDs were Telmisartan,Amlodipine and Benidipine,and leading the first three places on the list of sales amount were Telmisartan,Valsartan and Amlodipine. CONCLUSION:The use of antihypertensive drugs in our hospital conforms to China Guidelines on Prevention and Management of Hypertension and the drug use criteria recommended by WHO.

Objective To establish a method to analyze the composition and content of monoses in the garlic polysaccharide by ion chromatography. Methods The monoses in the solution of garlic polysaccharide hydrolysised by trifluoroacetic acid were determined by amino PAC column, eluted by gradient hydroxide sodium and identified by ampere detector (AU as working electrode, Ag/AgCl as reference electrode). Results The garlic polysaccharide was mainly composed by arabinose, galactose, glucose, xylose and fructose. Good resolution could be achieved among the above mentioned five kinds of monoses. Their linear correlations over the investigated concentration were above 0.998, while the average recovery rates were in the range of 95%-105%. Conclusion The ion chromatography method is fast, accurate, simple and reliable, and can be applied in the content determination and quality control of garlic polysaccharide.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of 0.1% tacrolimus ointment and 0.1% mometasone furoate cream in the treatment of chronic actinic dermatitis (CAD). Methods Forty male patients with CAD were recruited and divided into two groups randomly.Twenty cases were treated with 0.1%tacrolimus ointment (Group A), and the other 20 cases were treated with 0.1% mometasone furoate cream (Group B) . The medications mentioned were applied topically to the lesions on the face twice a day and mizolastine tablet 10 mg per day given orally for 4 weeks. The therapeutic efficacy and side effects of medications were observed. The enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method was used to measure the serum levels of IFN-γ, IL-2 and IL12 in CAD patients before and after treatment with topical tacrolimus ointment and mometasone furoate cream. Results (1) Both groups had overall response rates of 100%, with no statistically significant difference ( > 0.05) . (2) Serum levels of IFN-γ,IL-2 and IL-12 were down-regulated after treatment in both treatment groups respectively ( < 0.01) . No statistically significant difference was found between the two treatment groups ( > 0.05) . Conclusion 0.1%tacrolimus ointment is effective in the treatment of CAD. Its therapeutic efficacy is equivalent to that of 0.1%mometasone furoate cream. It can be used as a possible steroid sparing equivalent.

Objective The paclitaxel loaded solid lipid nanoparticles (PTX-SLNs) were prepared by an ultrasonic-dispersion emulsification technique. The stability of PTX-SLNs was investigated in this study. Methods The technology was preferenced by stability, Zeta potential, particle diameter, and entrapment efficiency as indexes. The doses of lipid materials and coemulsifier, the ultrasonic time, and the ultrasonic power were investigated in detail. Results The optimum prescriptions were definited by one-factor and orthogonal test. The adjuvant: glyceryl monostearate (100/150 mg), Fabaceous Lecithin (100 mg), coemulsifier Pluronic F68∶Tween 80 (2∶1). The samples were sonicated with an energy output of 300 W in 20 min after emulsified at (75?5) ℃. Conclusion The PTX-SLNs are successfully prepared and PTX-SLNs with high stability are fairly dispersed in colloidal solution. This technology has a nice prospect with safety and reliability.

AIM: To study the dissolution of ginsenoside Rb1,cinnamic acid and borneol in traditional Chinese medicine Shexiang Baoxin Pill(Moschus,extract of Radix et Rhizoma ginseng,Calculus Bovis artifactus,Cortex Cinnamomi,Styrax,Venenum Bufonis and Borneolum syntheticum). METHODS: The in vitro dissolution of active components in Shexiang Baoxin Pill was performed with paddle method. HPLC was used for determination of ginsenoside Rb1 and cinnamic acid,and GC for borneol. RESULTS: The analytic method above was easy to carry out,the requirement of the specificity,accuracy,precision and stability could meet the needs of experiment well; the dissolution time T50 and Td of ginsenoside Rb1,cinnamic acid and borneol were 30. 90,33. 79 min,29. 73, 37. 11 min and 42. 38,48. 51 min respectively. CONCLUSION: The dissolution rate of three active components from Shexiang Baoxin Pills was fast and the analytic methods established in this study could be used to evaluate the quality of the preparation.
