EPA exists wildly in artery vascular endothelium and could be activated by endogenously activated substances and regulate the vascular tone. The endothelium-dependent vascular relaxation mediated by EPA has been used for almost 20 years as an indicator of endothelium dysfunction. In many cardio-vascular diseases, EPA function was down-regulated. The pharmacological profiles of EPA could be characterized by muscarinic properties, as well as non-muscarinic properties in selectivity for agonists and antagonists and in binding characteristics. The endogenous ligand, receptor type and molecular pharmacological characteristics of EPA are waiting to be investigated.

Objective To probe the clinical values of the human serum glycoprotein profiles for the diagnosis of common gynecological tumors. Methods A total of 123 clinical serum samples which included 31 breast cancer, 24 cervical cancer, 19 ovarian cancer and 49 healthy individuals were collected. A lectin microarray consisting of 15 lectins with different glycan binding specificities was used to determine the glycoprotein profiles of serum sam-ples. Stepwise discrimination analysis method was adopted to establish function model of clinical serum samples classification with SPSS 15. 0 software. Results Two grades of diagnostic discrimination function models were es-tablished. The first grade discrimination function could differentiate gynecological tumors from healthy individuals, the diagnostic accuracy rates of retrospective inspection were 85. 7% and 83. 8% respectively, and the total diag-nostic accuracy rate was 84.6%. The second grade discrimination function was used to differentiate breast tumor, cervical tumor and ovarian tumor, the diagnostic accuracy rates of retrospective inspection were 96.8%,75.0%and 78.9% respectively, and the total diagnostic accuracy rate was 85.1%. Conclusion The human serum gly-coprotein profiles are associated with gynecological tumors, and the established discrimination function models based on lectin microarray data have a helpful reference value for the clinical diagnosis of gynecological tumors.

OBJECTIVE:To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of cetuximab in the adjuvant chemotherapy treat-ment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC),and to provide evidence-based reference for clinical treatment. METH-ODS:Retrieved from Cochrane Library,PubMed,CJFD and Wanfang database, randomized controlled trials (RCT) about cetux-imab adjuvant chemotherapy (test group) versus single chemotherapy (control group) in the treatment of advanced NSCLC were collected, and Meta-analysis was performed by using Rev Man 5.2 statistical software after extracting data and evaluating quality. RESULTS:A total of 8 RCT were included, involving 2 367 patients. Results of Meta-analysis showed survival rate in 1 year [OR=1.33,95%CI(1.08,1.64),P=0.006],partial remission rate [OR=1.48,95%CI(1.23,1.78),P<0.001],total effective rate [OR=1.34,95%CI(1.19,1.51),P<0.001],incidence of leucopenia [OR=1.50,95%CI(1.23,1.83),P<0.001],incidence of rash [OR=53.26,95%CI(13.09,216.65),P<0.001] and incidence of infusion reactions [OR=3.72,95%CI(1.86,7.42),P<0.001] in test group were significantly higher than those of control group, there were significant differences in 2 groups. However, there were no significant differences in the complete remission rate [OR=1.57,95%CI(0.91,2.70),P=0.11] and incidences of other ADR(P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS:Cetuximab has good efficacy in the adjuvant chemotherapy treatment of advanced NSCLC,however, the incidence of ADR should be prevented in clinic. Duo to the methodology limit of included studies,large-scale and high quality RCT are required for further validation of the conclusions.

The etiological agent of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) was identified as a new coronavirus, termed SARS-CoV. Establishment of an efficient and sensitive diagnostic system of SARS-CoV genetic materials is crucial for SARS control. In this study, we quantified SARS-CoV mRNAs in both infected cell culture lysate and in supernatant by using Real-time quantitative revere transcription-PCR based on EvaGreen鈩?dye and Taqman-MGB probes. For extensive evaluation of sensitivities and specificities, 13 pairs of primers and 4 probes were designed based on different genes of SARS-CoV. Glyceraldehydes-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) was selected as the internal control gene. Results showed that S-gene-specific PCR was the most sensitive for detection, but because of its sequence variability in the different viral strains, primers and a probe based on the N gene were suitable substitutions. Meanwhile, we found the mRNA concentrations in cell culture lysates were much higher than in cell supernatant and facilited more sensitive detection of the SARS-CoV.

Aim To investigate the inhibitory effects and mechanism of action of isoliensinine (IL) on the proliferation of porcine coronary arterial smooth muscle cells (CASMCs) induced by phenylephrine (Phen) and its mechanisms of action. Methods MTT assay, immunohistochemical method and Western blotting were adopted. Results IL (0.03-3 μmol·L-1) could inhibit the CASMCs proliferation induced by Phen (0.1 μmol·L-1) in a concentration-dependent manner. IL (0.1 μmol·L-1) antagonized Phen-induced overexpression of PDGF-β and bFGF from 0.545±0.026 and 0.47±0.03 to 0.458±0.019 and 0.376±0.017 (P<0.01, P<0.01). IL (0.1 μmol·L-1) also decreased c-fos, c-myc and hsp70 overexpression induced by Phen from 0.57±0.04, 0.44±0.04 and (173±36)% to 0.46±0.05, 0.372±0.021 and (115±35)% respectively (P<0.01, P<0.01, P<0.01). Conclusion IL exerted antiproliferative effect on CASMCs induced by phenylephrine, and its mechanisms were related to decrease the overexpression of growth factors (PDGF-β, bFGF), protooncogene (c-fos, c-myc) and hsp70.
