To make a systematic study on acupoints selection and medication rules for allergic rhinitis treated with acupoint application, literature regarding clinical researches on acupoint application for allergic rhinitis since 2000 has been retrieved; medication and acupoints involved were preprocessed and cluster analysis technique was applied to classify the data. As a result, a total of 37 pieces of literature were included, involving 27 types of herbs and 33 acupoints. The results showed Baijiezi (Brassica alba Boiss), Xixin (Radix et Rhizoma Asari), Gansui (Radix Kansui), Yanhusuo (Corydalis), Jiangzhi (Ginger juice) and Baizhi (Radix angelicae) constituted the main herb prescription, and the layer was increased along with frequency of use. Feishu (BL 13), Dazhui (GV 14), Shenshu (BL 23), Pishu (BL 20), Gaohuang (BL 43), Fengmen (BL 12) constituted the main acupoint prescription, which were clustered into 4 classes; Feishu (BL 13) and Dazhui (GV 14) constituted the first class; Pishu (BL 20) and Shenshu (BL 23) constituted the second class; the first and second class merged into the third class, Including Feishu (BL 13), Dazhui (GV 14), Shenshu (BL 23) and Pishu (BL 20); Gaohuang (BL 43) and Fengmen (BL 12) constituted the fourth class; the fourth class and the third class constituted the whole acupoint prescription. It was showed that for the allergic rhinitis treated with acupoint application, the medication was mainly epispastic herbs with pungent nature that belonged to the lung, spleen and kidney meridian, which presented the principle of simultaneous treatment of principal and subordinate symptoms; also the medication can be selected from core layer to supporting layer based on clinical needs; for the selection of acupoints, acupoints in lung and bladder meridian were mainly selected to assist exterior and resist the pathogenic qi, which could treat allergic rhinitis fundamentally by joint use with acupoints in soleen and kidney meridian.

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 2014;(11):1496-1502
Many tumor cells are resistant to cell apoptosis through the expression of antiapoptotic proteins. c-FLIP is a ma-jor resistance protein of antiapoptosis. In human cells, there are three types of c-FLIP, c-FLIPL , c-FLIPS and c-FLIPR . The c-FLIP binds to FADD to prevent the formation of procaspase-8-DISC and the subsequent activation of caspase cascade. Further-more, c-FLIPL and c-FLIPS have multifunctional roles in various cellular signaling pathways, as well as up-regulating several cyto-protective signaling. Studies show that upregulation of c-FLIP has been found in various tumors, and its downregulation has been shown to restore apoptosis triggered by various chemothera-peutic agents, like the transcriptional regulating agents, trichos-tatin-A, camptothecin, cisplatin, doxorubicin, etc. or other new biotechnologies, such as the specific siRNA. Therefore, c-FLIPS are important targets of cancer therapy. This review summarizes the results on the role of c-FLIP in cancer chemotherapy of tradi-tional antitumor agents and siRNA, and to provide new ideas and rationales of searching for the antiapoptosis effective compounds that can specifically antagonize c-FLIP.

Objective To observe the effect of injecting Xuebijing via different routes, as either treatment or pretreatment, on changes in intestinal mucosal morphology in a rat model of sepsis. Method Ninety-one healthy Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into five groups: 1) control group ( n = 7) , 2) sepsis group ( n = 21) , 3) intragastric pretreatment group ( n = 21) , 4) intravenous pretreatment group (n = 21) , and 5) intravenous treatment group (n = 21) . Except for the control group, the other groups were further divided into three sub-groups for assessment at 3, 6 and 12 h post-operation ( n = 7 per group) . Sepsis was induced by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) . For the intragastric pretreatment group, Xuebijing injection (5 mL/kg) was administered via intragastric injection 2 hours before CLP. For the intravenous pretreatment group, Xuebijing injection (5 mL/kg)was administered via the caudal vein 2 hours before CLP. For the intravenous treatment group, Xuebijing injection (5 mL/kg) was intravenously infused 2 hours after CLP. The control group received no treatment. The ileum was removed from all rats for measurement. The rats were sacrificed at 3, 6 or 12 h after operation to obtain the ileum.Intestinal mucosal damage index and morphological changes in the intestinal mucosa were detected by light microscopy and electron microscopy. Analysis of variance was used to compare the groups. P -values < 0.05 were considered to indicate statistically significant differences. Results Intestinal mucosal damage was significantly reduced in and the three treatment groups compared with the untreated sepsis group (3h, F =53.35; 6h, F =74.93; 12 h, F - 171.27; P =0.000). Intestinal damage was significantly reduced in the intravenous pretreatment group compared with the intragastric pretreatment group (3 h, F = 53.35,P =0.036; 6 h, F = 74.93,P =0.039; 12 h, F = 171.27, P =0.042). Conclusions Irrespective of the route, the administration of Xuebijing protected against intestinal mucosal damage and intravenous pretreatment exerted the most effective protection against intestinal mucosal damage in this rat model of sepsis.
