Chinese Journal of School Health 2026;47(1):65-69
Objective:
To explore the effects of personality and sleep quality with psychological distress of junior and senior high school stduents, so as to provide a reference basis for precise interventions of junior and senior high school students mental health.
Methods:
In October 2023, a convenience sampling method was used to select 9 034 students aged 12-17 from Shiyan City as the study subjects. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10) were used to collect information on sleep quality and psychological distress of junior and senior high school stduents. Between group comparison was conducted by using t-test and Chi-square test. Generalized linear models were employed to analyze the interaction and joint effects of personality and sleep quality on psychological distress.
Results:
The generalized linear model analysis showed that the interaction between personality and sleep quality on psychological distress was statistically significant of junior and senior high school students(effect size=0.80, P <0.01). The general linear model analysis indicated that, after adjusting for variables such as age, gender, screen time, and daily sitting time with the extroverted and good sleep quality group as the reference, the introverted and poor sleep quality group had the largest mean difference in psychological distress scores (difference=0.51, P <0.05). When stratified by sleep quality, psychological distress scores were higher in the introverted and neutral personality groups with both poor and good sleep quality compared to the extroverted group (poor sleep quality: introverted difference=3.71, neutral difference=1.14; good sleep quality: introverted difference=2.23, neutral difference=0.57, all P < 0.05). When stratified by personality, psychological distress scores were higher in the poor sleep quality groups for introverted, neutral, and extroverted individuals compared to their good sleep quality counterparts (differences=8.66, 7.83, 7.34, all P < 0.05 ).
Conclusions
Personality and sleep quality have interactive and joint effects on psychological distress of junior and senior high school stduents. Personalized psychological interventions should be developed based on personality and sleep quality.

Abstract
To analyzes the characteristics, problems and enlightenment of physical activity observation tools, so as to provide reference for researchers to quickly and accurately choose appropriate observation tools to evaluate children s and adolescents physical activity. Literature search is conducted in eight databases of Chinese and English, including CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, Web of Science, PubMed, Medline, ERIC, and SPORTDiscus. Ultimately, eight observation tools for assessing physical activity in children and adolescents are included. Through summarization and comparison, it is found that the applications of those tools cover multiple age groups, the observation indicators cover multiple dimensions for each with varying emphases, and the applicable contexts vary in their specific background information, and recording methods tend to be quantitative. However, several issues remain to be addressed in practical applications. First, the observation indicators need to be supplemented and improved; second, physical activity in community environments and academic classrooms requires further attention; third, physical activity intensity needs to be scientifically evaluated; fourth, observation and recording methods need to be integrated and innovated; fifth, the number of observation subjects needs to be expanded. Future research could focus on developing observation tools tailored to the characteristics of Chinese children and adolescents, while drawing on foreign observation tools to comprehensively assess physical activity among children and adolescents.

OBJECTIVE:
To design a portable respiratory device for transporting premature infants and explore its application effect in the in-hospital transportation of extremely premature infants in primary hospitals.
METHODS:
A prospective randomized controlled trial was conducted. The extremely premature infants born and transferred to neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) with oxygen therapy support from May to October in 2023 were selected and randomly divided into control group and observation group. The infants in the control group received respiratory support and in-hospital transportation using a traditional T-combination resuscitator connected to pure oxygen, and those in the observation group used a portable premature infant transport respiratory device designed and manufactured by medical staff to provide respiratory support and implement in-hospital transportation. The respiratory device for transporting premature infants is made of 304 stainless steel material, mainly consisting of a T-combination resuscitator, an air oxygen mixer, an air tank, a pure oxygen cylinder, a pressure reducing valve, a telescopic rod, a tray, a hook, a bottom plate, and four moving wheels, which can achieve precise control of the fraction of inspired oxygen (FiO2) during transportation. The achievement rate of first-time target pulse oxygen saturation (SpO2, achieving a target SpO2 of 0.90-0.95 was considered as meeting the standard) and arterial partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2) after being transferred to the NICU, as well as the manpower expenditure and time required for transportation of pediatric patients between the two groups were observed.
RESULTS:
A total of 73 extremely premature infants were enrolled, including 38 in the control group and 35 in the observation group. There was no significant difference in the gender, gestational age at birth, birth weight, mode of delivery, Apgar score at 1 minute and 5 minutes after birth, and oxygen therapy during the transportation between the two groups. The achievement rate of first-time target SpO2 after NICU in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group [94.29% (33/35) vs. 26.32% (10/38), P < 0.05], the PaO2 control range was better [mmHg (1 mmHg = 0.133 kPa): 85.50±6.36 vs. 103.00±2.83, P < 0.05], manpower expenditure and time required for transportation were significantly reduced [manpower expenditure (number): 2.14±0.35 vs. 3.17±0.34, time required for transportation (minutes): 10.42±0.76 vs. 15.54±0.34, both P < 0.05].
CONCLUSIONS
The portable respiratory device for transporting premature infants is used for respiratory support during the transportation of extremely premature infants in primary hospitals. It can improve the achievement rate of target SpO2, control PaO2 within the target range, and avoid hypoxia or hyperoxia during transportation. The breathing apparatus is compact, easy to carry, can save labor resources and time during transport, is cost-effective, and is suitable for widespread application in primary hospitals.

5.Research progress on roles of ferroptosis in chemotherapy resistance in leukemia
Chinese Journal of Comparative Medicine 2024;34(7):157-167
Chemotherapy resistance in leukemia is an urgent clinical therapeutic challenge.Ferroptosis is a unique mode of cell death driven by iron-dependent phospholipid peroxidation.Leukemia is characterized by increased oxidative stress and iron overload, suggesting that leukemia cells might be susceptible to ferroptosis and indicating a possible therapeutic approach.Ferroptosis has been extensively studied in recent years and used in the treatment of various types of leukemia.Several studies have demonstrated an association between the regulatory pathways of ferroptosis and the mechanisms of leukemia drug resistance. The induction of ferroptosis through different pathways can effectively reduce the resistance of various types of leukemia cells to chemotherapeutic drugs, and thus improve their clinical efficacy. In this article,we review the regulatory mechanisms of ferroptosis and analyze the association between oxidative stress and iron metabolism pathways of ferroptosis and the mechanism of leukemia drug resistance. We also summarize the experimental studies and clinical applications of ferroptosis for the treatment of various types of drug-resistant leukemias, with the aim of providing new ideas and directions for the study of ferroptosis and a new strategy to reverse chemotherapy resistance in patients with leukemia in the future.

Objective To detect the apoptosis effects of dioscin in HepG2 cells and its possible anti-hepatocellular carcinoma mechanisms. Methods HepG2 human hepatocellular carcinoma cells were exposed to 0.25,0.5,1,2,4,6,or 8 μmol/L dioscin, and cell proliferation was measured via MTT assay. The half-maximal inhibitory concentration(IC50)was calculated with the software.A scratch test was used to analyze cell migration ability.Western blot was employed to evaluate the expression of apoptosis and Wnt/β-catenin-pathway-related proteins. Results Compared with the control group, the dioscin-treated HepG2 cells'proliferation was significantly more inhibited, and the inhibition increased in a time-and dose-dependent manner(P<0.01).HepG2 cells showed morphological characteristics of apoptosis after they were treated with 1 μmol/L or 2 μmol/L dioscin. The scratch test indicated that the migration distance of HepG2 cells was remarkably reduced when treated with dioscin. In the Western blot experiment, the expression levels of Caspase-3 and cleaved Caspase-3 were visibility up-regulated,while those of Bcl-2 and β-catenin were significantly down-regulated when the cells were treated with dioscin for 24 h(P<0.05,P<0.01).When LiCl reagent was added to the HepG cells to activate the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, the expression levels of Wnt1 and β-catenin were remarkably increased compared with those of the control group(P<0.01).Compared with the LiCl group, the LiCl+DIO group's expression of Wnt1,β-catenin,and GSK-3β was significantly decreased(P<0.01).Conclusions DIO can promote the apoptosis of HepG2 cells by inhibiting β-catenin protein expression and thereby down-regulating the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. This inhibits apoptosis-related gene Bcl-2 expression, which leads to the induction of cell apoptosis. Therefore,DIO can have an anti-hepatocellular carcinoma effect.

Objective:To summarize the clinical characteristics and prognosis of severe infant botulism and evaluate the therapeutic effect of botulinum antitoxin in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU).Methods:The clinical data of 8 cases diagnosed with infantile botulism were retrospectively analyzed in the PICU of Beijing Children′s Hospital from October 2019 to August 2023. Data of basic demographic information, clinical manifestations, laboratory tests, treatment and prognosis of each child were collected and analyzed using descriptive statistical methods. Results:Eight laboratory-confirmed cases of infant botulism were included in this study, all of which were male infants with an age of 6.0 (3.3,6.8) months. Three of the children were from Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, 2 of them were from Hebei, and the other 3 were from Beijing, Shandong and Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, respectively. All the patients were previously healthy. In 4 of these cases, the possible cause was the ingestion of either honey and its products or sealed pickled food by the mother or child before the onset of the disease. The first symptom was poor milk intake (4 cases), followed by shallow shortness of breath (7 cases), limb weakness (7 cases) and so on. The typical signs were bilateral dilated pupils (8 cases) and decreased limb muscle strength (8 cases). The main subtype was type B (7 cases), and only 1 case was classified as type A. Six of the children were treated with antitoxin therapy for a duration of 24 (19, 49) d. Seven of them had invasive mechanical ventilation. All the patients survived upon discharge with a follow-up period of 29 d to 3 years and 8 months. Six patients had fully recovered, and 2 recently discharged patients were gradually recovering. Conclusions:For infants with suspected contact or ingestion of botulinum and presented with bilateral pupillary paralysis, muscle weakness and clear consciousness, the stool should be collected for diagnostic testing using a mouse bioassay as soon as possible. Type B was the most common type. The antitoxin treatment was effectiveness and the prognosis was well.

Cancer Research and Clinic 2024;36(2):128-131
Objective:To explore the clinical application value of DNA image cytometry ploidy analysis (DNA-ICM) in the pathological diagnosis of malignant pleural effusion. Methods:A retrospective case series study was conducted. The clinical data of 101 patients with pleural effusion from October to December 2021 in Shanxi Bethune Hospital were retrospectively analyzed. Liquid-based cytology (LBC) and DNA-ICM were performed on pleural effusion specimens. The sensitivity and specificity of the two methods were compared with the clinical diagnosis, imaging, biopsy, and follow-up results of the patients. Results:Among the pleural effusions of 101 patients, 39 were malignant pleural effusions and 62 were benign pleural effusions. The sensitivity of LBC and DNA-ICM in diagnosing malignant tumor cells in pleural effusions was 74.7% and 94.9%, respectively, and the specificity was 98.4% and 83.9%, respectively; the combination of the two had an increased diagnostic positivity rate compared with that of LBC alone [36.6% (37/101) vs. 28.7% (29/101)]. Seven cases with positive DNA-ICM but negative LBC result were followed up, and 1 case was diagnosed as small cell lung cancer. Conclusions:DNA-ICM can effectively improve the positive cytology detection rate of pleural effusion, and the combined detection of DNA-ICM and LBC can reduce the underdiagnosis rate of cytology, which is of great clinical value in the pathological diagnosis of malignant pleural effusion.
