2.The effect of Botulinum toxin type A(BTXA) on Brunnstrom stages of upper limb in stroke patients

Objective To investigate the effect of Botulinum toxin type A(BTXA)and rehabilitation intervention on upper limb Brunnstrom stages and ADL performance of stroke patients. Methods In a randomized controlled trial, 30 patients were allocated to either an experimental group (n=15) that received BTXA injection into muscles of the affected arm or to a controlled group (n=15). All patients' Brunnstrom stage and MAS stage were ≥gradeⅡ. All the patients were treated with rehabilitative techniques. The intervention was applied for 3 months. All were evaluated for the severity of spasticity (Modified Ashworth Scale,MAS),the level of impairment (Brunnstrom assessment and Fugl-Meyer upper limb test) and disability(Functional Independence Measure,FIM) before and after 1 week, 1,2,3 months of treatment. Objective To study the lipid regulatory effects of mannose ester and its effects on serum oxidized low density lipoprotein(OX-LDL),C-reactive protein(CRP)in patiends with coronary heart disease(CHD)complicated with hyperlipidemia.Methods Seventy-six CHD patients with hyperlipidemia were treated with mannose ester at a dose of 0.1g orally,three times a day for 2 successive months.Levels of blood lipids,OX-LDL,CRP at the time of entry,first month,second month of the therapeutic course were observed.Results Mannose ester could reduce the serum levels of total cholesterol,LDL-C 1 month after medication and the effect was further elevated after 2 months.Meanwhile its effects in lowering triglycerides and increasing high density lipoprotein were observed after 2 months administration.Mannose ester could also significantly lower the serum OX-LDL,CRP after 2 months administration.Conclusion Mannose ester has good regulatory effect on blood lipids,and decreases OX-LDL,CRP.Mannose ester can protect vascular endothelial cells and inhibit the development of inflammation in coronary plaque.Therefore,it can improve the prognosis of CHD patients.
4.Simultaneous Analysis of Seven Cephalosporin Antibiotics in Water by High Performance Liquid Chromatography

Objective To develop a satisfactory and reliable method for simultaneous determination of seven cephalosporin antibiotics (cefadroxil,cephalexin,cefoperazone,cefuroxime,cefradine,ceftazidime and cefotaxime) in water samples using solidphase extraction and high performance liquid chromatography.Methods The detection and reference wavelengths were 254 and 270 nm,respectively.The analytes were separated within 20 min by a gradient elution program.The optimized pretreatment of water samples was as following:using hydrophilic-lipophilic balance HLB as SPE cartridges,adjusting pH to 3 and adding 3.0 g NaCl per 500 ml water sample.Results The linear range of the method was 0.05-5.00 mg/L for ceftazidime,cefotaxime and cefuroxime,0.10-10.00 mg/L for cefadroxil,cephalexin and cefradine,and 0.20-20.00mg/L for cefoperazone.The coefficients for the analytes were above 0.99 and the limits of determination were 0.05-0.39 ?g/L.The recoveries of seven cephalosporin antibiotics in purified water were 86.64%-105.28%,and its relative standard deviation were 2.61%-11.64%.Conclusion The method was sensitive,accurate and repeatable,it is applicable to the determination of the cephalosporin antibiotics in waters.
5.The analytical method of three phenoxyalkanoic acid herbicides in grape leaf by dichloropropyl esterification and gas chromatography

ObjectiveTo develop a analytical method of three phenoxyalkanoic acid herbicides,MCPA,2,4-D and dichlorprop,in grape leaf using dichloropropyl esterification and gas chromatography with electron-capture detection.MethodsSamples were pounded to pieces,added into internal standard 2,4-dichlorophenylacetic acid,acidified and extracted with ethyl ether.The extracts were cleaned up by liquid-liquid partition.The cleaned organic solutions were evaporated and the residues were dichloropropylated using sulfuric acid and 1,3-dichloropropan-2-ol.The formed esters were analysed by gas chromatography.ResultsThe detection limits of MCPA,2,4-D and dichlorprop in grape leaf were 20ng/g,20ng/g,and 30ng/g,respectively.The concentritions of herbicides in grape leaf were linear over the ranger 100~1000ng/ml.The average recoveries of MCPA,2,4-D and dichlorprop in spiked grape leaf at concentrition of 200ng/g were 98.8%,101.3% and 103.1% with the coefficients of variation 11.4%,11.0% and 9.3% respectively.ConclusionThis method is sensitive and accurate for determination of these three herbicides in poisoned grape leaf.
6.Preventive Effect of Compound Zaofan Pills on Bone Marrow Arrest in Patients with Non-small-cell Lung Cancer After Chemotherapy

[ Objective ] To observe the protective effect of Compound Zaofan Pills ( CZP) , a prescription mainly composed of Radix Panacis Quinquefolii, Hippocampus Histrix, Melanteritum, Fructus Jujubae, Semen Juglandis, Cortex Cinnamomi, etc. , on bone marrow in patients with non-small-cell lung cancer ( NSCLC) after plantinum chemotherapy. [Methods] Sixty-five cases of intermediate and late NSCLC were randomized into two groups. Group A was treated with CZP and chemotherapy and group B with chemotherapy alone. After treatment, ranking of bone marrow arrest and time for leukocytes recovering to normal were observed in the two groups. ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of therapeutic hypercapnia on hepatic ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury in rat liver transplantation.MethodsMale specific pathogen-free adult Wistar rats aged 6 weeks weighing 220-280 g were used in this study.Sixteen rats in which liver transplantation was successfully performed were randomly divided into 2 groups ( n =8 each): liver transplantation group (group LT) and therapeutic hypercapnia group (group TH).In group TH,PaCO2 was maintained at 80-100 mm Hg by inhalation of CO2 for 1 h at the begining of reperfusion.MAP,PaO2 and PaCO2 was recorded during reperfusion.Blood samples were obtained at 2 h of reperfusion for determination of serum ALT,AST,TNF-α,IL-1 and IL-6 levels,and then the rats were sacrificed and transplanted liver was immediately removed for determination of NF-κB activity and apoptosis and microscopic examination.The apoptotic index was calculated.ResultsMAP,PaO2 and PaCO2 were higher,and serum ALT,AST,TNF-α,IL-1 and IL-6 levels,NF-κB activity and apoptotic index lower in group TH than in group LT ( P < 0.05).The histopathologic damage was ameliorated in group TH as compared with group LT.Conclusion Therapeutic hypercapnia can attenuate hepatic I/R injury in rat liver transplantation by inhibiting inflammatory response and apoptosis.

Objective To develop the quality of life questionnaire applicable to the Chinese patients with dysphagia by the translation and modification,as well as psychometric evaluation of the original swallowing quality of life questionnaire (SWAL-QOL).Methods The English version of the SWAL-QOL was translated into Chinese according to the well-accepted scale translation procedure.Then 103 patients with dysphagia were tested using the translated Chinese SWAL-QOL.The inter-rater reliability,test-retest reliability,internal consistency reliability,the content validity and construct validity were tested.Results The inter-rater reliability correlation coefficient of the SWAL-QOL was between 0.945-0.990 (P<0.01).Its test-retest coefficients ranged from 0.965 to 0.992 (P<0.01).The Cronbach coefficients ranged from 0.708 to 0.933 (P<0.01).There revealed significant correlation between each item of SWAL-QOL and its domain,with correlation coefficients between 0.723 and 0.982 (P<0.01).Factor analysis of each item of the 10 domains of SWAL-QOL extracted 10 common factors,which were with a cumulative contribution of 79.029%.Factor analysis of the total score of the 10 dimensions extracted 2 common factors including dysphagia-related quality of life and general quality of life,with a cumulative contribution of 54.718%.Conclusions The Chinese version of SWAL-QOL is reliable and valid.It can be used as an effective measuring tool to evaluate the quality of life of dysphagia patients.
10.The effect of myeloid differentiation factor 88 on experimental autoimmune myocarditis in mice

Objective To investigate the effect of myeloid differentiation factor88 (MyD88)on the experimental autoimmune myocarditis (EAM) in Balb/c mice.MethodsTotally 90 Balb/c mice were randomly divided into three groups:MyD88 ( n =30),myocarditis ( n =30),and control ( n =30 )groups.An injection of MyD88 high expression adenovirus was carried out through vena caudalis at day 3.The mice of myocarditis group received porcine cardiac myosin at the same time and position.The mice of control group received PBS only.Serum and myocardium samples were gained at day 21.The inflammatory infiltration and the serum levels of cTnI,IgG,and IgM were examined.Results 21 days later,the inflammatory infiltration score of the myocarditis group was higher than the control group (2.39 ± 1.23 vs 0.68 ±0.65,P <0.05).The MyD88 group was significantly higher than the other 2 groups ( F =94.194,P <0.01 ),the myocarditis group ( 3.56 ± 1.34 vs 2.39 ± 1.23,P < 0.05 ),and the control group ( 3.56 ±1.34 vs 0.68 ±0.65,P <0.01).The serum levels of cTnI,IgG,and IgM of the MyD88 group were significantly higher than the myocarditis group and the control group( P <0.01,P <0.05).Conclusions MyD88 participates in the pathogenesis of experimental autoimmune myocarditis in mice.
