Journal of Practical Stomatology 1996;0(02):-
Objective:In 2003,a survey of the manpower of pediatric dentists was made in China in order to provide basis for database. Methods:Questionnaires were distributed to dentists presenced the 5th conference of pediatric dentistry in China, and 139 available answers were analysis. Results:In those 139 pediatric dentists, with a mean age of 38.2?8.7,females were significantly more than males, and 89.9% dentists had bachelor, master or doctor degree. Significant relations were found between self-estimate ability of dentists and their length of work, degree, character of clinic. Conclusion:To date, the team of pediatric dentists begins to take shape, the structure of age and education are rational, but the number of them is insufficient and it is necessary to improve the basic and continuing education.

AIM: To observe the effect of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) combined with fibronectin as pulp capping agents. METHODS: The 48 pulps of 4 cats were exposed mechanically and then capped directly with MTA, MTA combined with fibronectin, calcium hydroxide, fibronectin and starch as control. After 12 weeks observation, the experimental teeth were extracted and observed with scanning electronic microscope. RESULTS: In calcium hydroxide group and MTA group, specimens showed irregular dentin bridge structures along the pulp-MTA interface. In MTA combined with fibronectin group, continuous and complete dentin bridge structures were found along the pulp-MTA interface, the crystalline-like structures were in direct contact with the dentin wall of pulp chamber, the exposed pulp sites were closed by the dentin bridge. In fibronectin and starch group, no reparative dentin was observed. CONCLUSION: The present experiment indicated that MTA combined with fibronectin was an effective pulp-capping material and may have potential for clinical application. [

Objective To study the teaching effect in physical evaluation by application of item teaching method for high occupation nursing students. Methods 249 high occupation nursing students of grade 2008 from four class were divided into the experimental group and the control group randomly. 123students of the control group were taught by traditional method, 126 students of the experimental group were taught by item teaching method, that is, listing teaching emphasis, examining item and standard for evaluation, preparing the lesson for students, teaching theory for teacher, teaching medical examination in groups, simulated training, testing item. The practical operation results and various capabilities were compared between two groups. Results The practical operation results and various capabilities of the experimental group was better than the control group. Conclusions Constructing evaluation system of physical evaluation by application of item teaching method is a beneficial attempt for high occupation nursing students. It improves the students' general ability and is beneficial to the justice and fair of teaching evaluation. So it is worth popularizing.

Background Poly(adenosine diphosphate-ribose) polymerase 1 (PARP-1) plays an important role in the pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy (DR),and Notch1 signal pathway is one of the important signal transduction pathways in the organism which may antagonize retinal vascular diseases. However,if Notch1 signaling pathway is involved in pathogenesis of DR has not been confirmed yet. Objective This study was to investigate the expressions of Notch1,Dll4,PARP-1,Akt,nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) and caspase-3 in the retina of diabetic mouse model and retinal vascular endothelial cells (RVECs) under the high glucose. Methods The expressions of Notch1,Dll4,PARP-1,Akt,NF-κB and caspase-3 in the retina of diabetic mouse models were investigated using immunochemistry and Western blot method after the diabetic mouse models were established. And these proteins were detected in retinal RVECs under the high glucose by Western blot. Results The expressions of Notch1,Dll4 and phosphorylated Akt (p-Akt) in retinas reduced significantly and simultaneously companied with increases of PARP-1 and caspase-3 in diabetic mice compared with normal mice (all at P<0.05).However,no obvious change was found in the expression of NF-κB (P>0.05).Expressions of Notch1 and p-Akt in RVECs increased with the increase of glucose concentration, but expressions of cleaved PARP-1 and caspase-3 decreased, especially in the 30 mmol/L group, showing significant differences in comparison with the normal control group (all at P<0.05).But no altering of NF-κB expression was seen in the mice with diabetes mellitus. Conclusions The expressions of cleaved-PARP-1 and caspase-3 in the retinas is up-regulated,but the expressions of Notch1 and p-Akt are down-regulated in diabetic mice.

Objective To clinically observe obstructive sleep apnea syndrome(OSAS) before and after cerebrovascular disease attacking and find prevention ways. Methods Seventy cases of berebrovascular patients were observed the OSAS status and the clinic data were collected in the mean time. Results We found 70% patients with snore and suffocation,89% with day drowse before attacking. After attacking,82% in-patient cases appeared different degree lower ventilation or apnea during 1~7d sleeping, which the average paroxysm frequency were 79 times per night and the average time were 72s per paroxysm. The therapeutic effects were good through different measures. Conclusion The active measures should be taken on OSAS after cerebrovascular disease attacking, which has a high frequency of OSAS.

AIM: This study was aimed to assess the effect of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) combined with fibronectin on reparative dentinogenesis and odontoblast differentiation, investigate the possible mechanism underlying traumatized pulp repair, which would facilitate the choosing of ideal pulp capping agents. METHODS: 192 teeth from 16 adult cats were used. Class V cavties were prepared on the facial surface. The pulps of cats were exposed mechanically and then capped directly with MTA, MTA combined with fibronectin, calcium hydroxide, fibronectin and starch as control. The pulpal tissue reactions were assessed by light microscopy at healing interval of 1 and 4 weeks.RESULTS: 1 week after pulp capping, no reparative dentin formation was observed in each group. 4 weeks after pulp capping, the dental pulps capped with MTA/fibronectin showed no or slight cellular inflammatory responses and odontoblast differentiation with tublar dentin bridge on the exposed sites. In MTA group, the dental pulps showed slight to moderate cellular inflammatory responses with osteodentin formation. In calcium hydroxide group, the pulps showed moderate to severe inflammatory responses with calcified matrix. In fibronectin and starch group, no dentin bridge formation was observed, the pulps showed severe cellular inflammatory responses.CONCLUSION: (1) MTA combined with fibronectin induced to form complete and tublar dentin bridge. In MTA group, most of the formed dentin bridge was irregular and osteodentin. (2) MTA combined with fibronectin is a bioactive pulp-capping agent and has a great worth in vital pulp therapy.
