With the development of the molecular biology technic in recent years, the research about the relations between the type of gene mutation and the intelligence growth with the Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) was developed.There are some connections in the intelligence and the type of gene mutation of the children with DMD. The children with DMD have lower intelligence when the mutation is after the 45 exon especially the 63 exon than before the 45 exon. It has more possibility to cause the lower intelligence when the the DMD gene mutation is closer to the end of 3'terminal.

OBJECTIVE To discuss rational layout of Sterilizing and Supply Room in the Department of Stomatology and its scientific utilization of sterilizing equipment which ensure safe medical treatment of patients. METHODS Funds should be invested to the Stomatology Department according to plan and environment and equipment should be transformed. RESULTS Transformed conditions of Sterilizing and Supply Room had conformed to Operation Rules of Sterilization of Dental Medical Instruments in Medical Institutions promulgated by the Ministry of Health.One patient could certainly use his own medical goods with absolute sterilization.This not only reduced opportunities of cross infection,but also protected and made things convenient for medical personnel. CONCLUSIONS The fundamental guarantee of safe medical treatment of patients is rational layout of Sterilizing and Supply Room in the Stomatology Department and rational allocation and scientific utilization of sterilizing equipment.

Congenital cystic lung lesions are a group of congenital lung diseases with low incidence. These include congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation,bronchogenic cyst,congenital lobar emphysema and pulmonary sequestration. These malformations occur during the period of lung development stimulated by various factors. Manifestations of the diseases are very similar,but the pathogenesis and pathology are very different. Congenital cystic adenomatoid malformations are thought to be the results of the cessation of bronchiolar maturation with overgrowth of mesenchymal elements and without development of alveoli. There are 5 pathological types of congenital cystic adenomatoid malformations. Bronchogenic cysts are the results of abnormal budding from a segment of the tracheobronchial tree during embryo development,and the buds with no communication with normal tracheobronchial tree. Congenital lobar emphysema is a term reserved for hyperinflation of alveoli from idiopathic reasons or extrinsic compression,as well as pathological changes of the bronchial wall. Pulmonary sequestrations account for parts of nonfunctioning lung tissue that mostly do not communicate with normal bronchoalveolar tree and vascularized by a systemic artery,two types(intralobar and extralobar sequestration)are described.

Objective:To investigate the effect of adenosine (Ado) on the unit discharging electricities in habenula nucleus and on the c-fos expression in lateral habenular complex,and the influence of adenosine on the neuron activities and related gene expression involved in affecting sleep in habenula nucleus and the possible mechanisms.Methods:Intraperitoneal injection,brain flakes pouring of rats,immunohistochemistry and other methods were useel.Results:Ado pouring into flakes of brain depressed the unit discharging electricities of neurons in medial habenular complex(MHb),but obviously increased that of lateral habenular complex(LHb).0.5 h after the six rats being injected intraperitoneally with Ado,the c-fos protein expression in lateral habenular nucleus was significantly increased compared to the group with saline injection.Conclusion:Ado may restrain the unit discharging electricities of neurons in medial habenular complex but excite those in lateral habenular complex.At the meantime,Ado may increase the c-fos expression in LHb.This provides the experimental evidence that Ado may improve the sleep quality.

Cloning and identification of differentially expressed genes or proteins is helpful not only for finding the functions of genes and proteins, but also for discovery of the mechanism of some diseases. Some methods have been developed for screening differentially expressed genes, such as differential display RT-PCR (DDRT PCR), subtractive hybridization (SH), DNA chip technique, and serial analysis of gene expression (SAGE). In subtractive hybridization, there have advanced three improved methods which include representational difference analysis (RDA), suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH), and full-length-gene-obtainable subtractive hybridization. For obtaining differentially expressed proteins, scientists have only two choices so far. One is two-dimentional gel electrophoresis. The other is phage display antibody repertoire library technique. Objective To evaluate the efficacy of thalidomide combined with NP regimen in treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and to analyse the change of VEGF and bFGF in peripheral blood in patients with advanced NSCLC. Methods 57 patients with advanced NSCLC were divided randomly into NP plus thalidomide treatment group and NP contrast group,and VEGF and bFGF were measured by ELISA. Results The response rate was 44.4 % in trial group and 23.8% in control group (P>0.05). The clinical benefit rate were 77.8% in trial group and 42.9% in control group (P>0.05). The median TIP was 5.1 months and 3.0 months for trial group and control group respectively(P=0.05). Patients in benefit in trial group had a remarkable decrease in the number of VEGF (P<0.05) while patients in benefit in control group had a little decrease in the number of VEGF (P>0.05). Patients out of benefit in trial group and control group had a increase in the number of VEGF (P<0.05). Patients in benefit in trial group and control group had a tendency of decrease in the number of bFGF (P>0.05) while patients out of benefit in trial group and control group had a remarkable increase in the number of bFGF(P<0.05). Conclusion The addition of thalidomide to NP regimen results in significantly and clinically meaningful improvement in response rate, median time to tumor progression, and clinical benefit rate compared with NP alone in advanced NSCLC patients.Thalidomide in combination with chemotherapy shows a favorable toxic profile in advanced cancer patients.VEGF and bFGF can be detected in patients with advanced NSCLC.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of Chinese botulinum toxin A(CBTX-A)injection in the treatment of motor tics in patients with tic disorder.Methods Twenty-five patients(20 male,5 female)were treated with CBTX-A in the sites of their most problematic motor tics.Before treatment the data of Yale Global Tic Severityb Scale(YGTSS)was collected.All patients were assessed at least 3 times after 1 week,4 weeks and within 12-month period.At each visit the following data were collected:YGTSS,Jankovic clinical rating scale,time to response,duration of response,global impression of changes by patients,presence of premonitory sensory tic component and side effects.Results Total number of treatment sessions was 29.The mean response time was 5.0 days.The mean duration of response was 4.6 months.The mean peak effect response in Jankovic clinical rating scale was 3.4.Based on YGTSS,62.1% (18/29)was rated as marked improvement,34.5%(10/29)as moderate improvement and only 3.4% (1/29)as no effect.85.7%(18/21)patients had less premonitory sensation symptoms(mean benefit 72.4%(20%-100%)).Weakness in the site of injection and rash were the main side effect. Conclusion CBTX-A is an effective and safe treatment for motor tics associated with tic disorder.

BACKGROUND:Staphylococcal infections and its biofilm formation can occur when orthopedic implants or wound is healing, and are regulated by bacterial population sensing mechanism. RNAIII inhibiting peptide intervenes the quorum-sensing system of staphylococcal and blocks the signal transduction among staphylococcal cells, and inhibits staphylococcal biofilm formation, and then prevents staphylococcal infections.
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the influence of RNAIII inhibiting peptide on the adhesion of staphylococcus epidermis to the Hela cells.
METHODS:The Hela cells were cultured in vitro. There were four groups in this study. In the blank group, saline with dimethyl sulfoxide was added in each wel . In the RNAIII inhibiting peptide group, dimethyl sulfoxide solution containing RNAIII inhibiting peptide was added. In the levofloxacin group, levofloxacin was added. In the combination group, the dose was in accordance with above methods. Using intergroup control method, the adhesion of staphylococcus epidermis to the Hela cells was compared under the effects of saline, RNAIII inhibiting peptide and levofloxacin and their combination.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:In the blank group, abundant bacterial adhered to Hela cells. The number of adhered bacteria was significantly lower in each medicine group than in the blank group (P<0.001). The spot count was significantly lower in the levofloxacin group than in the RNAIII inhibiting peptide group (P<0.05). In the combination group, the number of bacteria adhered to Hela cells was decreased (P<0.01). Results verified that RNAIII inhibiting peptide effectively suppressed the adhesion of staphylococcus epidermis to the host cells, and showed synergistic effects on antibiotics.

Objective To investigate the effect of antiserum against VEGF on angiogenesis and growth of bladder cancer in a mouse model in order to explore a novel strategy for the treatment of bladder cancer. Methods Antiserum against VEGF was prepared by using recombinant human VEGF and was identified for its specific affinity with VEGF by ELISA.The bladder carcinoma cell lines BST739 were implanted in T739 mice which were randomly divided into 2 groups:the control group receiving normal mice serum intraperitoneally,and the experimental group receiving antiserum against VEGF intraperitoneally.All the animals were sacrificed at last.Then all the bladder carcinomas were weighted and the microvessel density (MVD) in them was studied by immunohistochemical staining. Results The antiserum against VEGF was prepared and demonstrated with high specificity. The MVD in the antiserum group was lower than that in the control group. But the average weight of tumors was not significantly less in the antiserum group. Conclusions The study shows that to inhibit the activity of VEGF may reduce the angiogenesis in bladder cancer and supports the antiangiogenic therapy for bladder cancer.Inhibition of VEGF activity might become an important way of adjuvant therapy for bladder cancer.

[Objective]To review our experience in treatine infection after total knee arthroplasty with debridement and component retention to determine To the feasibility,indication,factors related to success and failure,and the main points of technique.[Method]Since 1990 to 2004,9 patients were treated with debridement and component retention at our department.[Result]Four of 9 patients successfully retained their component at most recent follow-up,without ongoing infection(mean 18 months,range 10～25 months).We have not draw the statistically significant factors that related to successful and failure,but the factors such as acute infection,surfacing replacement,immediate debrided after onset of symptoms,and the bacteria sensitive to antibiotic were relate to success.[Conclusion]Debridement and component retention can be used in acute postoperative infection and later acute hematogenous infection after total knee replacement,but timing and indication must be chosen strictly.
