Objective To evaluate the performance characteristic of Procalcitonin (PCT)Latex-enhanced immunoturbidimetric assay(LETIA)kit and explore its clinical application on diagnosis of sepsis.Methods The precision,recovery rate,linearity,anti-interference,correlation and clinical application of PCT kit were analyzed in this study according to standards developed by Clinical and laboratory standards institute (CLSI).Results The within-run and day-to-day run imprecision (CVs)of kit was <5.0% and<2.0% respectively at two medical diagnosis level (0.5 and 2.0μg/L).The average recovery rate was 100.6%.Linear range was from 0.05-60 μg/L,R2=0.996 as basis of determination.The test deviation was<10%,the result was obtained after repeated test of reagent kept with lid open for one month and lid closed in 37 ℃ water bath for 8 days.The test results of PCT kit using LE-TIA method were highly correlated with Roche PCT Chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA)kit.The PCT LETIA kit has excel-lent anti-interference performance,the serum samples containing Total Bilirubin ≤600 μmol/L,Hemoglobin ≤400 mg/dL,Triglyc-eride ≤1 000 mg/dL,Rheumatoid factor ≤200 IU/mL did not affect the testing result of the kit.The average levels of PCT in the experimental (Sepsis)group was (14.783μg/L±5.654μg/L),which in the control group was (0.237 μg/L±0.107 μg/L),there was statistically significant difference between them (P <0.05).Conclusion The PCT test using LETIA is a rapid、precise and re-liable method and it can be used for clinical diagnosis of sepsis.

Objective To Study the supplementary effect of internet communication technologydoctor-patient communication information system in the health education of patients in hand surgery department. Methods We divided 200 outpatients as well as 200 inpatients in hand surgery department into the control group and the test group with 100 cases in each group.We gave health education to the test group by sending short messages using doctor-patient communication information system. The control group received health education by routine method.The incidence rate of complications after operation in the two groups of inpatients and two groups of outpatients was compared. Results Statistical difference existed between the test group and the control group of inpatients and the test group and the control group of outpatients. Conclusions The application of internet communication technology of doctor-patient communication information system in the health education for patients in hand surgery department could effectivelydecrease the incidence rate of complications after operation.

Objective To compare the effect of percutaneous balloon compression (PBC) versus percutaneous radiofrequency thermocoagulation treatment (PRFT) on idiopathic trigeminal neuralgia in elderly patients. Methods The 87 patients with idiopathic trigeminal neuralgia were enrolled, 42 patients were treated by PBC (PBC group), and the other 45 patients were treated by PRFT (PRFT group). The effects of two therapies were evaluated after treatment. Results The early response rate (92.9% vs. 95.6%) and cure rate (88.1% vs. 88.9%) of PBC group versus PRFT group had no significant differences (both P＞0.05). The inhibitory response rate of trigeminal nerve was significantly greater in PBC group than in PRFT group after treatment (69.0% vs. 35.6%, P＜0.05), and 1 patient had cardiac arrest in PBC group. The two groups had different degrees of facial numbness and sensory dysfunction. The 39 patients treated by PBC had numbness in three divisions of trigeminal nerve, while 43 patients treated by PRFT had the high selection and showed the main numbness in the ill division of trigeminal nerve. The chewing gravis rate was higher in PBC group than in PRFT group (71.8% vs. 20.9%, P＜0.05). There was no neuralgia recurrence in both groups during 6 monthe′ follow-up. Conclusions The effect of treating the elderly patients with idiopathic trigeminal neuralgia is similar by PBC and PRFT. The PBC therapy under general anesthesia is more convenient for patients who can not cooperate.The PRFT has much higher selectivity in trigeminal nerve damage, lower inhibition rate of the trigeminal nerve, and less influence on the masticatory muscle function.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the development of clinical pharmacy according to the publication number of literatures in pharmacy periodicals in China. METHODS: General keywords, such as rational administration, pharmaceutical care, training for clinical pharmacist, and special keywords, such as drug utilization, administration analysis, therapeutic drug monitoring(TDM), adverse drug reaction monitoring, medication history, pharmacoeconomic analysis, medicine consultation, were selected for retrieving related literatures from CBM database from 1994 to 2008. Literatures retrieved were analyzed statistically. RESULTS: Clinical pharmacy developed rapidly relatively in recent years. The number of literatures which were retrieved using general keywords was 12 and 15 for using special keywords in 1994. The number of literatures was increases year by year and up to 1 117 and 329 in 2008. However, development orientation of literatures was unbalanced. Literature about rational administration, drug utilization and administration analysis constituted a high proportion while development of clinical pharmacy should be enhanced in respect of clinical pharmacist training, medication history writing, medicine consultation and adverse drug reaction monitoring. CONCLUSION: Disadvantage in disequilibrium of development should be changed as long as clinical pharmacy develops rapidly in order to promote its overall development.

Phospholipase A2(PLA2) is an enzyme family which widely distributed in nature. It is related to many important function in physiology and pathology. Among the enzymes, a small molecule PLA2 (platelet PLA2) is closely related to tumor. The study of platelet PLA2 and tumor is reviewed.

A simple assembly for paper electrophoresis and its optimal working conditions are described. The construction of a simple densitometer is also briefly presented.In using the scanning method, azocarmin B was found to be a suitable dye for the quantitative determination of the relative amount of serum protein fractions, as checked by nitrogen determination with the micro-Kjehdahl method. It was found, that no correction factor was necessary for the globulin fractions.Reproducibility of the method is considered satisfactory.The electrophoretic values of sixty normal human sera and a number of patients' sera are reported.

Objective_To explore the effect and the mechanism of isoflurane on human cardiac myocytes ( HCM) injury induced by anoxia/reoxygenation ( AR) .Methods_HCM cells were divided into control group ( con) , an-oxia/reoxygenation group (AR) and isoflurane (0.5%, 1%, 1.5%and 2%) treatment group (n=6).Cell via-bility, LDH activity, apoptosis and the expression level of Anoxia inducible factor-1α( HIF-1α) were detected using CCK-8 assay, LDH activity assay kit, Annexin V-FITC/PI staining, PCR and western blot, respectively. Results_Compared with the con group, cell viability decreased, LDH activity and apoptosis cells increased in AR group.Isoflurane can significantly relieve the decrease of cell viability, the increase of LDH activity and apoptosis cells, and the down-regulation of the mRNA and protein expression level of HIF-1αinduced by AR ( P<0.05 ) . Compared with AR group, the mRNA and protein expression level of HIF-1αin siRNA transfected group signifi-cantly decreased (P<0.05).2%isoflurane significantly relieve the increase of cell viability, the decrease of LDH activity and apoptotic cells induced by HIF-siRNA in AR injuried HCM cells(P<0.05).Conclusions_Isoflurane can protect HCM cells from AR injury partly through up-regulate the expression of HIF-1α.

This report concerns an observation on the biological properties of orthomyxoviruses type A in the condition of symbiosis with streptococcus A in embryonated eggs. The results show that both the viruses and the streptococci multiply normally in the condition of symbiosis and that the activity of the virus neuraminidase enhances, with the speed of the virus disassociating from RBC increasing. The morphological changes of the virus were observed also by transmission electron microscopy. The reason of these changes is discussed,
