Cerebral smal vessel disease (CSVD) refers to cerebral smal perforating arteries and arterioles (diameter 40 - 200 μm), capilaries, and venules caused syndromes of clinical, cognitive and pathological manifestations. Its imaging classification includes lacunar infarcts, white matter lesions, cerebral microbleed, and perivascular space enlargement, etc. The pathogenesis of CSVD is stil being explored, and imaging findings can not completely reflect the change process of its pathophysiology, especialy the early lesions. Therefore, the difficulties have increased for the prevention and treatment of CSVD. This article summarizes the progress in research on CSVD biomarkers in recent years in order to provide ideas for its etiology, pathogenesis, and clinical prevention and treatment.

Background C57BL/6.NOD-Aec1Aec2 mouse is considered to be an idea model for the study of the pathogenesis of Sj(o)gren syndrome,but the cause of dry eye in these mice is unclear.Objective This study was to investigate the histopathological change of the ocular surfaces of C57BL/6.NOD-Aec1Aec2 mice,and to determine whether dry eye is developed spontaneously in these mice.Methods Forty-five clean C57BL/6.NOD-Aec1 Aec2 mice were used as the experiment group and forty-five C57BL/6J mice(both male and female)were used as the control group in this study.Detection of fasting blood-glucose,Schirmer' s test Ⅰ (S Ⅰ t),lissamine green staining and scoring of the corneal and conjunctival epithelium in the mice were performed at the age of 4,8,12,16 and 20weeks.Five mice from each group were sacrificed and their corneas were obtained to measure the central corneal epithelium thickness and to count the number of conjunctival goblet cells.In addition,lymphocyte infiltration in the lacrimal gland of the mice was examined with hematoxylin-eosin staining.The uhrastructure of the corneal epithelial cells and microvilli were assessed by scanning electron microscopy.The use and care of the mice were approved by the Experimental Animal Care Committee of the Third Military Medical University.Results No sign of dry eye was seen in both the 4-week-old C57BL/6.NOD-Aec1Aec2 mice and 4-week-old C57BL/6J mice.The S Ⅰ t values in 8-week-old,12-week-old,16-week-old and 20 week-old mice from the experiment group were (2.7 ±0.9) mm,(2.5 ±0.8) mm,(1.8±0.6) mm and (1.9± 0.1) mm,respectively,showing a significant reduction in comparison with those of the control mice of the same age(all P＜0.01).The amount of lissamine green staining in the C57BL/6.NOD-Aec1Aec2 mice gradually increased with age,showing elevated scores in 12-week-old,16-week-old and 20-week-old mice in the experiment group(all P＜0.01).The central corneal epithelium thicknesses were(20.18±3.75)μm,(17.01 ±5.25) μm,(14.19±5.72) μm and(12.00±3.25) μm in the 8-week-old,12-week-old,16-week-old and 20-week-old C57BL/6.NOD-Aec1Aec2 mice,respectively,which were significantly lower than those of the C57BL/6Jmice of the same age (all P＜0.01).The numbers of conjunctival goblet cells were (8.2±2.4),(6.2±2.1),(6.1 ±2.2) and (4.1 ± 2.0) in the 8-week-old,12-week-old,16-week-old and 20-week-old C57 BL/6.NOD-Aec 1Aec2 mice,respectively,showing a gradual decrease with age and a significant decline in comparison with those of the C57BL/6Jmice of the same age(all P＜0.01).Lymphocyte infiltration in the lacrimal gland and destruction of gland ducts were seen by hematoxylin-eosin staining,and acinar abnormality aggravated with aging.Reduction of corneal epithelial cells and the number of microvilli were distinguished with aging under the scanning electron microscope.The fasting bloodglucose levels of the two groups were both less than 6.0 mmol/L,and no significant difference was found between them at any age(P=0.637,0.610,0.163,0.086,0.938).Conclusions C57BL/6.NOD-Aec1Aec2 mice develop dry eye spontaneously with aging.The course of disease and characteristics of dry eye in C57BL/6.NOD-Aec1Aec2mice is similar to human dry eye.The C57BL/6NOD-Aec1 Aec2 mouse is the perfect model to study the pathogenesis of dry eye.

In this paper, we present a 3D virtual phantom design software, which was developed based on object-oriented programming methodology and dedicated to medical physics research. This software was named Magical Phan tom (MPhantom), which is composed of 3D visual builder module and virtual CT scanner. The users can conveniently construct any complex 3D phantom, and then export the phantom as DICOM 3.0 CT images. MPhantom is a user-friendly and powerful software for 3D phantom configuration, and has passed the real scene's application test. MPhantom will accelerate the Monte Carlo simulation for dose calculation in radiation therapy and X ray imaging reconstruction algorithm research.

Objective To investigate the effects of MTA1 knock down on migration and invasion of NPC cell 5-8F in vitro. Methods RNAi (Si-MTA1-01 and Si-MTA1-02) that can transiently silenced MTA1 was designed, synthesized and transfected into 5-8F cells by lipofectamine 2000. Control group (transfection with nonsense sequence) was also estab-lished. The efficiency of MTA1 depletion was determined by q-PCR and Western blot. Wound-healing assay ,Matrigel inva-sion assay and thesolid-phase adhesion assay were performed to investigate the effect of MTA1 knockdown on 5-8F cell me-tastasis. Results Transiently knock down of MTA1 decreased MTA1 transcription and expression in 5-8F cells compared to shRNA-con cells, showing by Real-time PCR and western blot. The invasion and migration of the cells transfected with siRNA-MTA1 were much weaker than the control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion silencing MTA 1 gene can effectively in-hibit the migration and invasion of nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell, and might be a promising target for NPC treatment.

Objective To evaluate the alternate intravesical instillation of MMC and IL 2 together with BCG for the prevention of bladder cancer recurrence. Methods The instillation was carried out for 41 cases of bladder cancer after surgical management.All the patients have been followed up for 38～66 months with an average of 50 months.TNFa levels were periodically detected after the instillation. Results No recurrence has been noted in all the 34 patients of Ta,T 1 and T 2 tumors except 1 with mixed squamous cancer. 3 of 7 T 3 cases underwent TURBT,recurrence was noted in 2 and the TNFa remained much higher after the instillation. Conclusions Alternate intravesical instillation of MMC and IL 2 together with BCG is an effective means of preventing bladder cancer recurrence.TNFa detection might serve as a marker for bladder cancer recurrence.

Abstract: Objective （ ） To investigate the current status of medical radiation protection in medical and health institutions MHI Methods - （ ） in Tibet Autonomous Region. Sixty one MHIs in seven prefectures cities of Tibet Autonomous Region were selected as the study subjects by stratified random sampling. The radiological protection equipment and personal protective ， equipment were investigated and the quality control of radiological equipment and radiation protection monitoring in Results ， radiological workplace were monitored. There were 368 radiation workers in 61 MHI institutions accounting for 4.8% （ ） ∶ ， 368/7 701 of the total number of radiation workers. The ratio of male to female was 2 1 and the average was six people/ institution. The quantity of radiation monitoring equipment and personal protective equipment at all levels of MHI was less than ， 1.00 sets/person. Among them tertiary MHI had the lowest number of personal protective equipment configurations. The （ monitoring qualified rates of radiation equipment quality control and radiation protection in radiation workplace were 73.3% 88/ ） （ ）， 120 and 95.8% 115/120 respectively. The lowes tmonitoring qualified rate of radiation equipment quality control was 55.2% （ ） ， （ ， ）Conclusion 32/58 with digital radiography and the second was computed tomography 84.8% 28/33 . The monitoring ， qualified rate of radiation protection in MHI workplaces at all levels in Tibet Autonomous Region is high. However radiation monitoring equipment and personal protective equipment should be increased.

Objective To investigate the effect of Tongluo Tangtai Recipe(TTR)on inflammatory cytokines in rats with diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN). Methods Rat model of spontaneous DPN was established by feeding high fat diet. The rats were divided into 5 groups , namely model group , western medicine(metformin 100 mg·kg-1·d-1+ methycobal 0.2 mg·kg-1·d-1) group, and low-, middle- and high-dose TTR groups (TTR in the dosage of 0.72, 1.44, 2.88 g·kg-1·d-1 respectively). Rats of the normal group and model group were treated with normal saline orally, and the medication groups were given the corresponding medicine according to the experimental design. After intragastric administration for 4 weeks, sciatic motor/sensory nerve conduction velocity was detected with electrophysiological examination method, and tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α), interleukin-6(IL-6), C-reactive protein(CRP), myelin basic protein(MBP) levels in the serum were examined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). Results TTR in various dosages could reduce the serum levels of MBP and inflammatory cytokines of TNF-α, IL-6 and CRP, and increase sciatic nerve conduction velocity (P<0.05 or P<0.01 compared with those in the model group), the high dose showing the strongest effect. Conclusion TTR could inhibit inflammation reaction and nerve demyelination, and improve nerve structure and conduction function, which may contribute to the preventive and therapeutic mechanism of TTR for DPN.

Moyamoya disease is a chronic progressive cerebrovascular occlusive disease of unknow n etiology. Transcranial Doppler sonography (TCD) is a non -invasive ultrasonic examination that can detect the hemodynamic characteristics of intracranial large vessels. At present, there are more applications in screen, auxiliary diagnosis, and surgical outcome assessment in moyamoya disease. This article review s the current applications of TCD in moyamoya disease.

BACKGROUND: Clerodendron bungei steud(CBS) is a tree from genera of Verbena L. In the present pharmacological studies, CBS has showed anti-inflammatory, antineoplasic, nonspecific immunity-enhancing effects. Myoelectric effect of stimulating uterus round ligament is related with agitating adrenergic α receptor. The experiments about analgesic effect are few.OBJECTIVE: To observe the antinociceptive effect of ethanol extract of CBS in mice through hot plate and writhing tests.DESIGN: Randomized controlled experiment with animals as subjects.SETTING: Departmcent of Pharmmacology, Gannan Medical College.MATERIALS: The experiment was performed in Department of Pharmacology, Gannan Medical College from March to June 2004. A total of 120Kunming white mice, weighing(20 ± 2) g were provided by the Experiment Animal Center of Gannan Medical College.INTERVENTIONS: In the writhing test, 50 mice were randomly divided into normal saline, aminopyrine group(0. 1 g/kg), morphine group(0.01 g/kg)and extract of CBS groups(20 g/kg, 40 g/kg) . There were 10 mice in each group. Forty minutes after intraperitoneal injection. 6 mL/L acetic acid (10 mL/kg) was injected intraperitoneally, 5 minutes later, the number of writhing body and inhibitory rate of writhing body were observed for 10minutes. In hot plate test, 40 mice were randomly divided into normal saline group, morphine group(0.01 g/kg) and extract of CBS groups(20 g/kg,40 g/kg). There were 10 mice in each group. After intraperitoneal injection,the mice were put on the hot plate, and the temperature was(55 ±0.5) C. The pain threshold was recorded 15, 30 and 60 minutes after administration. And 30 white mice were randomly divided into naloxone 0. 04 g/kg + morphine 0.01 g/kg group, aloxone 0.04 g/kg + extract of CBS 40 g/kg group,naloxone 0.04 g/kg + normal saline group for hot plate test antagonized by naloxone(40 mg/kg) . The mice were injected intraperitoneally. The duration of pain reaction were recorded 15, 30, 60 and 90 minutes after administration.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ① The number of writhing body and inhibitory rate of writhing body; ② The duration of pain reaction; ③ The pain threshold in the hot-plate test after antagonized by naloxone were calculated.RESULTS: All the 120 white mice entered the result analysis. ① The number of writhing body and inhibitory rate of writhing body: The number of writhing body was 2.4 ± 2.5 and 0. 6 ± 1.7 in the 20 and 40 g/kg extract of CBS injection group respectively and the inhibitory rate of the pain reaction caused by 6 mL/L acetic acid was 93.3% and 98.3% respectively. ② The pain threshold at 15, 30 and 60 minutes after administration in the hot plate test: the pain threshold was[(121.2±98.7) s, (191.2±78.6) s,(133. 1 ± 91.1 ) s] at 15, 30 and 60 minutes after injection of 20 g/kg extract of clerodendron bungei steud; it was[(233.9 ±70.4) s, (219.6 ±78.2) s,(218.3 ±92.6) s at 15, 30 and 60 minutes after 40 g/kg extract of CBS being given. The pain threshold in the extract of CBS groups was all higher than that in the control group respectively[ (13.7 ± 15.2) s, (9.7 ± 12.5) s,(22. 1 ± 15.6) s] ( P ＜ 0.01 -0. 001) . ③ In naloxone antagonized morphine test, the pain threshold at 15, 30 and 60 minutes after administration in morphine 0.01 g/kg+naloxone 0.04 g/kg group[(1.7±5.2) s (6.4 ± 8.6) s, (21.8 ± 34.0) s]was obviously smaller than that in the extract of CBS 40 g/kg +naloxone 0. 04 g/kg group[(124.9 ±79.4) s,(139.3±72.9) s, (137.9±60.8) s](P ＜0.001).CONCLUSION: Ethanol extract of CBS has strong analgesic effect and this is not manifested through the activation of opioid receptors.
