3.ADR Reports of Our Hospital in 2008: Analysis of 113 Cases
China Pharmacy 2001;0(10):-
OBJECTIVE: To investigate the characteristics and general pattern of the adverse drug reactions (ADR) occurred in our hospital. METHODS: A total of 113 ADR cases reported by our hospital in 2008 were analyzed statistically in respect of patients’age and sex, route of administration, dosage form, category of drug, organs and systems involved in ADR and clinical manifestations, etc. RESULTS: The ADR were mainly induced by venous administration (59.29%). Anti-infective drugs dominated the first place on the list of ADR incidence rate (46.90%) followed by TCM preparations (23.01%). The most common manifestation of the ADR was lesion of skin and its appendants(37.17%). CONCLUSION: Great importance should be attached to ADR monitoring to reduce or avoid the occurrence of ADR.
4.Protective effects of erythropoietin against brain injury following stroke
International Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2009;17(4):312-315
Erythropoietin (EPO) is a hematopoietic growth factor that has a specific role on erythroid progenitor cells. Recent studies have suggested that EPO has the important neuroprotective effect on brain damage following stroke, and its major mechanisms include neurotrophy, anti-neuronal apoptosis, inhibition of secondary inflammatory response and excitatory amino acid toxicity, maintenance of vascular integrity and promoting angiogenesis, promoting neurogenesis, as well as anti-oxidative stress.
5.Evaluation of 10 mAs and low-contrast CT image optimization based on the multitractal spectrum in brain of infant
Chinese Journal of Radiological Medicine and Protection 2009;29(1):106-108
Objective To analyze scanned image optimization based on the multifractal soectrum and image fractal algorithm of 64-slice spiral CT in brain of infant. Methods The image data of Toshiba Aquilion 64-slice CT scanning using 10 mAs were imported to image processing toolboxs of Matlab 7.1. The evaluation of muhifractal spectrum and image denosing were performed, and compared with image quality of conventional low-dose CT using 50 mAs. Results The low-contrast scanned image used 10 mAs is the valueless medical image because of serious noise. Image denoise based on the fractal model had superior characteristic of image detail preserving and better contrast-to-noise ratio(CNR). There existed a group difference in the score of image quality between the rude imaging noise and optimized image based on the muhffraetal spectrum algorithm, though the score was still significantly lower than the normal dosage scanned image(F = 38.85, P < 0.01). The group difference was also manifested the image quality of infants can achieve basieaUy the request of clinical diagnosis by suitable model denoising algorithm. Conclusions Image denoising based on the multifraetal spectrum model can be used on the low-dose and low-contrast CT image optimization. It improved the CNR of the pathological region. The radiation dose of CT scanning in infants would be declined significantly by its further application in the future.
6.Artemisinins regulate apoptosis genes of neoplasm
International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2008;30(2):119-121
Artemisinin and its derivatives, which are known as traditional antimalarial drugs, have anticancer activities by inhibiting cell proliferation, inducing apoptosis of tumor cells, and resisting angiogenesis, etc. The activity of inducing apoptosis has become high-light for studies recently. Most scholars believed this activity was obtained by increasing apoptosis-inducing genes(Bax),decreasing anti-apoptosis genes(Survivin,Bcl-2),and regulating two-ways controlling genes, and finally led to the distinctive morphological changes.
7.Changes of the maxillary arch produced by different self-ligating appliance systems during the leveling and aligning phases
Journal of Practical Stomatology 2010;26(2):240-243
Objective:To evaluate the changes in the transverse dimension and the perimeters of the maxillary archs produced by 3 self-ligating appliance systems during the leveling and aligning phases. Methods: 45 patients who had class I skeletal pattern and upper arch crowding 3-6 mm were divided into 3 groups with 15 subjects in every group. The dental casts were analyzed. Results: Statistically significant increases were recorded of all dentoalveolar widths (with the exception of intermolar width measured lingually) and arch perimeters. The increase in arch perimeter showed a significant negative relationship with the individual perimeter of the maxillary arch before treatment. No significant change was found in arch depth. Conclusion: The self-ligating appliance systems produce statistically significant increases in the transverse dentoalveolar width and the perimeter of the maxillary arch during the leveling and aligning phases of treatment.
8.Bibliometric analysis of PBL related research in medical education
Chinese Journal of Medical Education Research 2011;10(5):620-623
Using the information metrology's correlation theories and literature measurement method, this article makes statistics of the PBL related research papers in our country's medical education published in 1979-2010 and analyzes this domain's distribution of time, article quantity, authors'units and key word term frequency. We propose that PBL research should be further standardized in the concept aspect and the research technique as well as the discipline involved should be further multiplied in our country.
9.MiRNA and breast cancer metastasis
International Journal of Surgery 2010;37(1):46-48
Most deaths of breast cancer patients may be caused by the development of metastases. The latest research suggest that some miRNAs regulated gene expressions related with breast cancer metastasis at post-transcriptional level, which was closely related to invasion and metastasis of breast cancer. This review mainly dicussed the miRNA involved in regulation of invasion and metastasis of breast cancer and their mo-lecular mechanisms.
10.DNA sequence homology analysis of Trichophyton rubrum isolates from multiple body sites of patients with onychomycosis
Chinese Journal of Dermatology 2010;43(8):542-545
Objective To profile genotypes of Trichophyton rubrum isolates from different body sites in patients with onychomycosis. Methods DNA was extracted from 30 T. nibium isolates from 10 patients with onychomycosis, and subjected to PCR with tandemly repetitive subelement 1 (TRS1 )-specific primer to analyze the number of repetitive elements in the non-transcribed spacer (NTS) region of ribosomal DNA gene, and to random primer amplification with the random primer OPAA11. The genotype variety was evaluated for T. rubrum isolates from different body sites of patients with onychomycosis. Results All the strains were classified into 5 genotypes based on the copy number of TRS1, and into 11 genotypes by RAPD analysis. The genotypes of T. rubrum seemed unrelated to sites of infection. Genotype diversity was observed among T. rubrum strains from different body sites of the same host in 7 out of the 10 cases as shown by amplification of TRS1 region, in 8 out of the 10 cases as demonstrated by RAPD analysis. Conclusion A single host with onychomycosis could harbor multiple genotypes of T. rubrum at different body sites, suggesting external sources of infection rather than infection from a different site in the same individual.
